Due to Dutka smashing chains on 15 and clearing the $317 ace pool, glo dubs has officially come to an end. Thanks to Mitch Winters for running things all winter long and winning our money all winter long :)

Capital City Challenge, 5/11, moved to Burchfield

Due to heavy flooding at Grand Woods, the Capital City Challenge has been moved to Burchfield Park. We will only be using Renegades Trail due to flooding on Rivers Edge. Layouts for each division will be announced soon.

News and Notes

Reminder... Tuesday Doubles has been moved to Burchfield until further notice.
Wednesday singles, 4/24, will be at Burchfield.
Round One of Wednesday Singles, 4/17 will be dropped. Both ratings and points. We will try to make up the round the week of the 4th. I will go into more detail at the players meeting. So, technically, this week is our first sanctioned and pointed round. Weather looking pretty good!!!

Tuesday Dubs 4/23 and Wednesday Singles 4/24 Schedule Change

Due to flooding at Grand Woods, Tuesday Doubles will be moved out to Burchfield Park, playing short to short layout.
And the 2nd week of Wednesday Singles league (which may be the first sanctioned round) will be at Burchfield, as well. We will play a bit of a mixed layout to toughen up the course for the sake of ratings, but it will primarily be the short to short layout.

Round 1

Only 6 of 45 players walked off last night due to weather, so the round will count. For those of you concerned, each player does get two dropped scores for the first 10 weeks and 2 more for the 2nd 10 weeks.

Club Meeting Monday, May 6th

Hello Renegades! Boy that was some crazy weather last night... I'm going to look at the cards, if half or more of the players left, this round will be made up at a later date....

More importantly... We will be having a Club meeting Monday May 6th, 8:30pm at Franks Press Box on West Saginaw. Why 830, people work and people play... I want everyone to have a chance to enjoy their day and when it's winding down, join us for some friendly conversation about disc golf and the CCR. Hope to see you all there!!!!!!!

I'm not gonna make the same mistake Josh did Tuesday saying that we're gonna be clear but the forecast has changed in our favor. For the first night, we are playing short to shorts. Tuesday Dubs Starts 3/26

Just a reminder that CCR's Tuesday Pro/Am Doubles at Grand Woods will be starting next week, the 26th. We will be meeting at the shelter by 16's basket, tee off is at 6, so please get there early to sign-up.
$5 a week... includes acepool and a chance to throw for extra CTPs at the end of the round. Payouts are in discs and other merch the Club might have.

CCR Wednesday Singles

Okay. I've been giving this some thought and now want to hear what you all think. Basically, The CCR is going to run two 10 week sanctioned seasons. 4/11-6/12 and 6/19-8/28. Coinciding with these two 10 week seasons will be a 20 week season where players compete for a basket by division. 10 week seasons will be $20 ($15 for Club members), plus an extra $10 if you want your 10 rounds sanctioned. The 20 week season will cost $40 ($30 for Club members), plus an extra $20 for 20 sanctioned ro ... more

DNR Needs our help!

The Recreation program director with the Michigan DNR needs a couple of volunteers to help out next week at a conference. It would include teaching people about the sport of disc golf. The FIXgerald Frozen FUNdraiser!!! 2/23/2013

I was going over the reviews of Fitzgerald Park... seems like we should rename it FIXgerald Park :) Most of the negative feedback was regarding the lack of tee pads, tee signs, raskets and directional arrows. These are all things the Fitzgerald Frozen Fundraiser, this Saturday 2/23, is raising money for! As it stands, the Scene rates the course a B-, not bad for what it is... HEY Fellow Golfers,
Did you know that the CCR is hosting a sanctioned Glow tournament? That's right, a PDGA C-tier at Burchfield DGC. I will have some flat LEDs for sale and player packs.

A note to all Tournament Players

Beginning with March Mush 2013, the CCR will no long accept "cash-less pre-reg." As useful as it can be, it's more frustrating to have an event full and people on a waitlist, then have 10 open spots the day of. During these Winter months, weather has a way of dictating whether or not we can travel, which is why you get January and February.

MSU is going back in, Saturday 12/1 @ 10 am

Hey Renegades! MSU is going back in the ground this Saturday 12/1. The CCR is working with MSU's new disc golf club, headed by Ziggy, to make this happen... any help we can get is appreciated.
THINGS TO BRING IF YOU HAVE THEM.... we need a Metal Detector to find the last few ground sleeves, message me if you have one to let us use. Man-power and the willingness to laydown some turf pads and stake them down... so maybe a hammer would help.

November 6th another ace race at DeWitt

Ace Race again at DeWitt next week. 5pm tee off next week. 3 rounds from the short tees. Only one throw per hole. No 2nd shots or putts unless you want to be disqualified from throwing the next hole. It also allows for faster flow. All aces split the cash. If no aces are hit, the 2 people with the most dots will get paid out 1st and 2nd cash places. If there is a tie for those spots, those dots will throw a CTP for the cash spots. Congrats to Josh Siwek and Danny Benda for cashing yesterday!

Tuesday Ace Race at Dewitt 10/30/12

Tee off 5:30pm. $5 per person. 3 Rounds of the short 9 tees. If no one hits an ace, there will be a CTP for the players with Dots, paying 1st and 2nd in the CTP. (A Dot is hitting metal on your first throw). There will be only ONE throw per player, no upshots or putting allowed. If you do throw an upshot or putt out, you will be penalized from throwing the next hole.

First off, sorry we didn't resovle the acepool money til after the league party. In a perfect world, I would have remember sooner or thought of the likelyhood a couple weeks out and planned for it... but I didn't. What did I learn? Remember next year :) Tuesday dubs is comong to an end, if you have money banked, be sure to cash in soon... when the seasons over, your bank goes with it. As for this years tag finals... this will be the last year all 8 play for the #1 tag. Next year the to ... more

2013 tags will be availble at Kick out the Yams, this coinsides with when Burchfield will be getting their annuals, so CCR members can get half off!
Glo league has started. Right now we are teeing of at 830 pm at Grand Woods. If you need lights, Mitch is always ready to sell you some. Golf is $5 plus $1 for acepool... light prices, ask Mitch.
We will be having an all Club Meeting next month. I'm gonna look at the calender and pick a day. This will be the final day you have to announce a desired position with the Club.

The extra 6 baskets at The Woods have been pulled for now. Thank you Alex for your help!
We're coming to the end of a busy season with a few big events left. Anyone willing or wanting to step up and help get the courses cleaned up or mark pads at Fitz, let me know... help is always welcome!

We welcome any Club member to run for any position you see yourself fit for. President, VP, Secratary, Treasurer. There are also many appointed positions, such as social media, photographer, course overseers.

Bag Tag Finals this Sunday 9/30/2012 at Grand Woods

Hello fellow Renegades, just a reminder that the Bag Tag finals will be this coming Sunday, Sept 30th... tee at 10 am. Please show up early. You will need to turn-in you tag before you play. Your tag will determine who you play with the first round and be used to determine ties. Format- Rd 1, stroke play 18 holes (orginal layout). Hello fellow Renegades, just a reminder that the Bag Tag finals will be this coming Sunday, Sept 30th... tee at 10 am. Please show up early. You will need to turn-in you tag before you play. Your tag will determine who you play with the first round and be used to determine ties.
Format- Rd 1, stroke play 18 holes (orginal layout). Top four score advace to the finals to play for the Number One Gold Tag. Spots 5-8 also advance to the finals to play for spots 5-8 and some cash.
Rd 2, 24 holes of stroke play. Round one scores DO NOT carry over to second round.
Top 8 get paid cash.. $100 to first, the only 2012 gold #1 tag made! and the distinction of bein CCR's 2012 Club Champ!

Burchfield Sunday doubles are cancelled tomorrow. Doubles will be held at Grand Woods instead at 10am. And then at 2pm we are having a work day at the woods. Meet at hole 5 at 2pm for the work day. Thanks!!

Burchfield Open, July 14th

The Burchfield Open, July 14th is now open to 144 players! The new course and the original course will both be played by all divisions! All divisions will also play the same layout on the Original course they're scheduled to play for the CCR Open, Aug 10-12, plus get their first glimpse of all 18 holes on the new course!!!!!!!

Workin at the Woods

From this Saturday, 6/23 till the CCR Open, we will be having a workday from 2-5pm. We'll meet back by Hole 5's tee. Bring any non-power tools you have. If you can't make one, try to make another... all the help we can get to have our courses in A-tier condition is greatly appreciated.

Work day at the Woods

Just to remind everyone, or inform those who didn't know... this Saturday, June 16th we will be having a work day at Grand Woods starting no later than 2 pm. Also, after morning dubs is complete, we'll need some muscle to help us load and unload some astro-turf to use for potential teepads. The teepad help should only take an hour, which will get you back to the Woods in plenty of time to help with the new holes we're carving out. Any help, for any amount of time is greatly appreciated!

Work Days

Hello everyone... Just to let you all know, I will be out at Buchfield from 1 to 4 pm both Thursday, the 17th and Friday the 18th grooming the new course and cleaning up the original. If you're free and are willing to help, please come out, the more hands the better.
And if you plan to play The Woods before Saturday, please help pick-up some trash so the course looks nice for the Mando on Saturday.

2) CCR’s Wednesday Night PDGA Sanctioned Summer League Showdown: Players who do not wish to compete in a full 24 week season may enter a division and compete with the existing members of that division in a trophy only PDGA Sanctioned 12 week season.
The cost is $25, which includes 10 sanctioned rounds and a Dry-fit league tee shirt (a Custom Stamp Club disc may be purchased at a discounted rate). The 12 week season begins June 6th at Burchfield Park and will run through August 29th... the 10 weeks of sanctioned play will begin June 20th (giving you slackers some time to catch-up :))
*Players who entered the 24 week season receive 4 dropped scores and may pay an extra $12 by June 6th to have their rounds rated for the 12 week Showdown, either way, they still compete for the 12 week trophy only prize, as well the 24 week basket. Players competing in the 12 week season receive 2 dropped rounds (however the rounds will still be rated)
** Wednesday October 3rd will be the League Awards Party at Grand Woods with our traditional long drive and putting contests, grill out, Club flymart and a Supersized Club meeting.

LE Crystal Z Zone

Okay CCR members, we, the Clubs of Michigan, have been given the opportunity from Discraft to have our own LE disc. After voting, the LE disc will be a Crystal Z Zone. I'm try to figure out how many to order, so please send me a message if you're interested and how many you'd like. I'm not publishing the price, I don't want to start some bidding war between Clubs, but I will say that CCR Club members will receive a discount if they pay in cash and not tournament/league funny money.

Format for Fitz Frozen Fundraiser

This event is a fundraiser to improve an already battered course. The park has given us the okay to add cement pads, tee signs and replace the raskets.... but we must fund the whole endeavor. Of course we plan to ask for hole sponsors from local businesses and friends of the park, but that will only take us so far.
This is a singles event. It is non-sanctioned, so FUN is mandatory! And all players will receive a pack of hand warmers as a players-pack. We are only offering 5 divisions- Pro Men and Women, Am1, Am2 and AmWomen. All proceeds raised will go towards the parks renovation.

Hey all... I forgot that I need to take my cat to the Vet at 6, so the glo round, following today's cleanup the Woods will begin at 730. People are more than welcome to play earlier, that's just the time I'll be playing... we may throw a little $5 action into the mix if that's what the group wants...

Anyone who'd like to come help, is more than welcome. I'll most likely be out there a little sooner, but much of the work that needs to be done is on 17, so I wont be too hard to find. Also, after the cleanup Thursday, I plan on playing a glo round, if anyone is interested. You are not required to help cleanu ... more

Burchfield volunteers!

Volunteers needed!!! May 7th at 230 pm and May 14th at 230 pm we are having work days at Burchfield to help the park expedite the process. On the 7th we'll be putting in directional arrows and hopefully some tees signs... amongst other manual labor type of tasks. This day would be a great opportunity for those to come out and see the course and get a feel for it before they throw.
On the 14th we'll be putting in the baskets and maybe a few other finishing touches. Then it's game on!
So please come help. The parks already done so much, lets show them our appreciation!

Saturday Nov 13th from Noon - 5 pm we'll need volunteers to help spread some soil, move some brush and other random bits of course work.

Volunteers for Burchfield

We need volunteers for Burchfield on Sat. Oct. 30 from 12-5pm to help plant trees and do some other grunt labor. This course is shaping up to be World Class... so come, get involved, and take some ownership in what will soon become an amazing course.
