So, now im confused? So, we just sign up and play anytime after 4pm? What if i only have one person to play with, Is that OK? Or solo even? I dont wanna just show up at 530-6 and maybe, hoping that someone else is just chilling on the grounds needing a group? Also, are we not doing ratings this year? Flex starts would make ratings invalid? Im signing up my 10yr old son this year, he counts as my third player if needed?

If your son is a pary of league, he's a player. Must have three or four per card, so if that means you wait for someone, that's what it is. Flex start may or may not alter ratings, depends on conditions.
