Just a reminder that the DGLA Michigan Cooperative Point Series will kick off Sunday Nov 24th

All Michigan Disc Golf leagues are elligable to participate. If you want to compete for awards and MDGO - Discraft Michigan State Disc Golf Championship berths, you must be a registered DGLA Player member by Jan 15th. You will get both Winter and Summer for the one time $30.
DGLA has just sent out the award emails. Most ellected to combine Winter and Summer - please respond to the email to indicate how you want to use your portion of the $495.00 payouts. All Player members recieved some level of payout awards.
You also helped grow the Michigan Disc Golf Course Improvement fund which has grown from $120 in 2012, adding $165 in 2013, to $285 - Thank You!
Payout Awards:
DGLA payout awards for the top 40 Players or top 40% of the Players whichever is largest. We have added another partner to provide members additional choices to how to use their award. We will continue to explore new opportunities and your feedback is always welcomed.
How is the payout total calculated? We had 30 player level members in Winter - with $10 of thier membership fee going to the Winter payouts and $5 for Summer payouts. 3 new player level members for Summer each adding in $15.
Look forward to seeing everyone in a league round someplace in Michigan in 2014. Peace to all...

1) # of rounds counted per week; 2 best or 1 best round per week.

DGLA Members Course Improvement Fund Status: We carried over $120 from 2012 and added $165 based on 33 Player level members during the 2013 seasons. How these fund will be used will be based on submitted request and member vote.

Leagues Coordinators need to Opt in to the MiCPS - Once your league is online send us the URL of your league on DiscGolfScene.com to join. Any Michigan league that has rounds played any time between Sunday Nov 24th 2013 and Saturday March 1st 2014 are eligible for the MiCPS-W 2014. The deadline to add new leagues is January 15th 2014.
Leagues can always run outside the MiCPS dates but MiCPS points will only accumulate for rounds played between these dates.
Cost: There is no fee to be in the MiCPS-W 2013, you just play league rounds in participating leagues and your scores are automatically included. You must have a Disc Golf Scene profile which is also free.
Everyone is competing for the title Michigan State Disc Golf League Winter Champion 2014.
DGLA "Player" level are competing for additional awards, MDGO berths, the top 40 "Players" or 40% of the "Players", which ever is larger will be awarded credit at our sponsor disc golf stores. In addition to the DGLA "Players" package.

Well the MiCPS-Summer 2013 is over. We are still waiting on the leaderboard to lock this Saturday and then we can finalize the standings, Name the Michigan State Disc Golf League Summer Champion and award the DGLA Players so awards and Discraft Michigan State Championships berths.
So League admin the drop dead date for any outstanding rounds or corrections is this Saturday, Aug 3rd.

June through July we had 29 HLW to try and encourage players to travel to other leagues or at least hear about other leagues, courses, what formats and special activities the leagues run. During these rounds player receive double points to help move up the leaderboard.
For the DGLA "Players" there is one Discraft Michigan Championships Berth up for grabs based on the Player who played in the most HLWs during the season.

Now remember your local leagues may have already ended or may still continue - check their schedule but after this Saturday no more Michigan Cooperative Point Series points will be accumulated.

We verify a few details and then make it official who is the Michigan Disc Golf League Champion for summer 2013. Well I know you've been missing my short little post, so I thought now that I'm back I'd send out a update related to the Highlighted Leagues of the Week.
First there was sever storms at Vienna when their HLW was scheduled and most of the 40 players did not play so we have reschedule this round for July 20th. So since they run two leagues you can enjoy Two rounds Saturday July 13th - the first for Double points. And the following Saturday July 20th the second round will have it's HLW - Double Points. You can anticipate their signature Bacon Cheddar Burgers on those days - Enjoy.
This week there is another shot for Double points, Thursday, July 11 @ 6:00pm, Chippewa Banks, Midland, MI - Chippewa Banks Disc Golf Club - Thursday Doubles

Ace Pool total is $401 as of July 6
Lets pray for a rain free day, with lots of sunshine. We will be cooking our signature Bacon Cheddar Burgers after the round for $3 each. $10 All-in will include the $400+ ace pool, 6 CTP's (2 of which will be CASH) and a guaranteed good time :)
Check-in from 12:45 til 1:00
It will be a random draw for partners.
Ace's will get 1/2 of the Ace pool, if more then 1 ace is hit in the same day, you will have to split 1/2 of the pool.
Our payouts our unlike any other doubles leagues, we try to pay out 50% of the field in most cases, and have special cash CTP prizes as incentives for amateur players.

First there was sever storms at Vienna when their HLW was scheduled and most of the 40 players did not play so we have reschedule this round for July 20th. So since they run two leagues you can enjoy Two rounds Saturday July 13th - the first for Double points. And the following Saturday July 20th the second round will have it's HLW - Double Points. You can anticipate their signature Bacon Cheddar Burgers on those days - Enjoy.
This week there is another shot for Double points, Thursday, July 11 @ 6:00pm, Chippewa Banks, Midland, MI - Chippewa Banks Disc Golf Club - Thursday Doubles

It will be a random draw for partners.

Thursday evening random draw doubles league. League will be played at both Moose Meadows and Willow Metropark disc golf course. $5 to play, $2 ace pool(pays out 50%) and $3 (2) 100% & (1) 50%/50% CTPs = $10 all in.
State berth will be awarded to the player who wins the overall league at cut-off date. A berth will also be given to the golfer who plays in the most combined league rounds on Thursdays and Sundays.

I bet you can expect a cookout - steaks, sauage and as always the best Jerky and Landyeagers. Check the league page for latest details.
$10 all-in (optional) will include $4 towards 4 or more CTP holes.
We meet at hole #1 and play Short Tees only, with occasional extra holes.
Check-in will follow the completion of the 1pm round.
It will be a random draw for partners.
Weekly Mini-contest, $2 entry - gets you 3 mini's (bring or own or we will provide, no metal ones allowed.)
Successful shots will score 50% of the total pool, 25% goes to league improvements and 25% will stay in the pool.
Ace's will get 1/2 of the Ace pool, if more then 1 ace is hit in the same day, you will have to split 1/2 of the pool.
Our payouts our unlike any other doubles leagues, we pay out 50% of the field in most cases, and have special cash CTP prizes as incentives for amateur players.
To keep this a fun league, we will not tolerate bad attitudes or bad sportsmanship, if you demonstrate either one of these in this league you will be told not to come back. We are all here to have fun and want everyone to enjoy the game.

With the month of May wrapping up and the details in on the first 7 HLWs I thought I'd provide some insights to those who are trying to play the most HLW this season.
Now this is a great excuse to get out and play some new courses, see how other leagues do their thing and see old friends and make some new ones. The turn out should be a bit higher and many leagues ad a few extras into the mix. So if your looking for more payouts or awards it's a great time to play another league. And how better to learn a new course than to play with some of the locals who know the lay of the land.
If your into the points thing, looking to win a Discraft Michigan State Disc Golf Championships berth - Double Points!
OK I have the first 7 HLW into the stat grinder and besides trying to resolve players who use different names or variations the preliminary - unofficial current stats are so far:
169 players have played in these 7 HLW throughout the state.
Largest Highlighted League of the Week had 40 players:
Friday, May 17, 2013 - Air Zoo, Flight Club Dubs - Nice but that will be beat by the end of the Summer. Wish I could have made it over for that one.
Currently the most HLW league rounds played by a single player is 3 and that achievement is held by three players ( "" denotes DGLA Player level players):

Well the end of the month of May is approaching so I thought I'd take a look at how the stats are shaping up. Not all the rounds are posted or even played but its fun to see who is doing what in the point series and figure out what you may need to do to achieve your desired results.
I'm just looking at the top 20 overall and that means you have to have at least 340 points currently. Jake Schooley stays in the top twenty with that 340 total.
From 10th place through 20th the average score is 362.27 and they all have played an average of 19.72 rounds or you can say they averaged 18.36 points per round.
So if you want to be in the top twenty make sure you play at least 1.669 rounds per week and get at least 18.36 points per round.
now at 10th place with with 396 points, an average of 39.6 points for the first 10 weeks after 19 rounds (an average of 1.9) is Bruno Drouillard - Nice Play Bruno.
You have to cross over into the 400 point range such as Taggart Anderson, actually right at 400 and achieving that in only 14 rounds. Well played Taggart.
Now in the top ten everyone has more than 23 rounds except Bruno and Taggart - way to optimize your points per round guys.
Climbing even further up the leaderboard we have Dave Lessen, running one of the new leagues and commanding 8th place. Mike Stratford getting in several rounds and making them work for him to secure 7th. Almost half way through the 400's at 445 points Ron Howard is at the 6th place right with Jerry "Chilly" Chilson at 5th with 448. A bit of a jump to 480 with only 23 rounds at 4th is Ben Ciccarelli.
Top three overall are within 15 points of each other - 1st and 2nd only 1 point apart but all are in the 500's.
samuel smith in 3rd at 587, Ben Calhoun at 591 and mike raley in 1st with 592. Way to play to win guys.
Speaking of Wins - in the Month of May so far no surprise our leader is at the top of the Monthly Win leaderboard.

I'm just looking at the top 20 overall and that means you have to have at least 340 points currently. Jake Schooley stays in the top twenty with that 340 total.
From 10th place through 20th the average score is 362.27 and they all have played an average of 19.72 rounds or you can say they averaged 18.36 points per round.
So if you want to be in the top twenty make sure you play at least 1.669 rounds per week and get at least 18.36 points per round.
now at 10th place with with 396 points, an average of 39.6 points for the first 10 weeks after 19 rounds (an average of 1.9) is Bruno Drouillard - Nice Play Bruno.
You have to cross over into the 400 point range such as Taggart Anderson, actually right at 400 and achieving that in only 14 rounds. Well played Taggart.
Now in the top ten everyone has more than 23 rounds except Bruno and Taggart - way to optimize your points per round guys.
Climbing even further up the leaderboard we have Dave Lessen, running one of the new leagues and commanding 8th place. Mike Stratford getting in several rounds and making them work for him to secure 7th. Almost half way through the 400's at 445 points Ron Howard is at the 6th place right with Jerry "Chilly" Chilson at 5th with 448. A bit of a jump to 480 with only 23 rounds at 4th is Ben Ciccarelli.
Top three overall are within 15 points of each other - 1st and 2nd only 1 point apart but all are in the 500's.
samuel smith in 3rd at 587, Ben Calhoun at 591 and mike raley in 1st with 592. Way to play to win guys.

This one was moved from July 13th, when their morning league will still have it's HLW. There was some mention of the famous Steak cook out after the round - One of the best ways to wrap up a round. I recommend a Double steak or get a sausage and steak since it a HLW and double points. Win Big Eat Great FUN FOR ALL. Also don't forget to stock up on the best smoked jerky and LANDJAEGERs. They enhance any round of golf - Enjoy the rounds.

24 Chains is a group of highly dedicated Disc Golfers whom fear no weather, play year round at courses throughout lower Michigan. We meet at course chosen by the members earlier on in the week, at a time and day that works best for the majority (Usually 5:30 pm on Fridays, or 10 am sat/sun).
Usually rounds are a singles format but we also play doubles, ChaChi, ript, one disc wonder, quarter sack, and are always open to new games and format ideas.

Currently 32 participating leagues with two already wrapped up so there are currently 30 HLW between May 5th and the Last day of the MiCPS-Summer 2013. May 15th is the last day to add new leagues to the MiCPS-Summer 2013. It's also the last day to upgrade to Player status and be eligible for payouts and State championship berths.
Here is the schedule so far. Please review the each league page to confirm time, location and details.
You can also tell by looking at the MiCPS schedule:

Look for "Double Points!" on the right side of the schedule and the league highlighted in light green.

We are up to 27 participating leagues and 14 have confirmed dates for their HLW. May 15th is the cutoff for adding new leagues.

Besides getting to play some of the courses as a warm up for the Michigan State Disc Golf Championships August 31st, Kyle Jansen van Galen & Randy Gallagher have setup a Double/Double to make it worth the travel and help the players in northwest region of the state get their points. Double/Double - Black & White. Yes Double rounds that day; Random doubles for Double points and then Singles for double points. If I could do that new math I'm sure that's much more than Double the fun ;-)

I have sent messages to all the participating League Admin to see if they have preferences on dates. These could be just regular league rounds but with double points or sometimes league do a little something special or pick a date when there is something else going on near by. Check out the league page as the date get's close and get out and play as many of our great courses, experience all the different formats and different things each league does and enjoy playing with some of the greatest players in the world. And get yeah some Double Points ;-)
We have 24 leagues currently and I expect that to grow until the cut off May 15th.

Leagues can join for free - doubles & singles leagues
Just send us the URL of your league on DiscGolfScene.com to join. Any Michigan league that has rounds played any time between March 17th and July 28th 2013 are eligible for the MiCPS-Summer 2013. The deadline to add new leagues is May 15th 2013. Your rounds played since March 17th will automatically be added. League coordinators do not need to do anything but enter your rounds in your league normally, as the MiCPS automatically calculates points so your league can use what every point system for your own league. Handicapped leagues must post adjusted scores - the scores used to determine payouts. We are working on a solution to this - stay tuned for an update soon....
Small leagues (4-19 players) are given a boost in points and leagues larger 60 have a points cap to try and level the playing field so as many leagues throughout the state can participate and players everywhere have a shot. Get out and play as many different leagues, courses and with different players as possible.
Only your best two rounds per week (Sunday - Saturday) are included.
Summer Aces are worth 25 points

Now if your a "Player" and want to show your support while competing for some extra booty, for $30 you can become a DGLA Player Member for the year. You get a commemorative DGLA Michigan Cooperative Point Series 2013 MEMBER putter, a DGLA Glow Mini, Lifetime membership number, you contribute to the DGLA Member Course Improvement Grant program that you get to vote to determine how it is used, along with helping to decide improvements to the Point Series and you are eligible for awards based on your final point standing as compared to the other Player Members, for the Summer 2013.
You can become a DGLA Player member by going to the Disc Golf League Association website and paying by PayPal, Mailing a check to DGLA or see Scott, Pete or Foz at an event. Check here for more info or to register:

Currently there are 31 Player level members for the Summer season, 30 Player members got both winter and summer for the same price and $10 went into the Winter Payouts and $5 into the Summer payout fund, so we are now at $165 and growing. $15 dollars is added for every new Player level member during the summer so it will grow quickly - Tell a friend, share the fun.
DGLA Player level Payout Awards:
DGLA will have payout awards for the top 40 Players or top 40% of the Players whichever is LARGER. We have added another partner to provide members additional choices to how to use their award. Thanks to The ThrowShop and Marshal Street. We will continue to explore new opportunities and your feedback is always welcomed.

Just send us the URL of your league on DiscGolfScene.com to join. Any Michigan league that has rounds played any time between March 17th and July 28th 2013 are eligible for the MiCPS-Summer 2013. The deadline to add new leagues is May 15th 2013. Your rounds played since March 17th will automatically be added. League coordinators do not need to do anything but enter your rounds in your league normally, as the MiCPS automatically calculates points so your league can use what every point system for your own league. Handicapped leagues must post adjusted scores - the scores used to determine payouts. We are working on a solution to this - stay tuned for an update soon....
Small leagues (4-19 players) are given a boost in points and leagues larger 60 have a points cap to try and level the playing field so as many leagues throughout the state can participate and players everywhere have a shot. Get out and play as many different leagues, courses and with different players as possible.
Only your best two rounds per week (Sunday - Saturday) are included.
Summer Aces are worth 25 points

Now if your a "Player" and want to show your support while competing for some extra booty, for $30 you can become a DGLA Player Member for the year. You get a commemorative DGLA Michigan Cooperative Point Series 2013 MEMBER putter, a DGLA Glow Mini, Lifetime membership number, you contribute to the DGLA Member Course Improvement Grant program that you get to vote to determine how it is used, along with helping to decide improvements to the Point Series and you are eligible for awards based on your final point standing as compared to the other Player Members, for the Summer 2013.
You can become a DGLA Player member by going to the Disc Golf League Association website and paying by PayPal, Mailing a check to DGLA or see Scott, Pete or Foz at an event. Check here for more info or to register:

Currently there are 31 Player level members for the Summer season, 30 Player members got both winter and summer for the same price and $10 went into the Winter Payouts and $5 into the Summer payout fund, so we are now at $165 and growing. $15 dollars is added for every new Player level member during the summer so it will grow quickly - Tell a friend, share the fun.
DGLA Player level Payout Awards:
DGLA will have payout awards for the top 40 Players or top 40% of the Players whichever is LARGER. We have added another partner to provide members additional choices to how to use their award.
