In addition to Seven Acres of Trees and P.O.M.A.P. Field... I'd Like to introduce a new course thanx to Karl Denfeld... located in Laurel (A subsidiarity of Hillsboro) this course offers vista's of 4 mountains, fresh country surroundings, camping, 27 holes w/ elevation... open field shots.... technical wooded shots offering a 9 hole course and an 18 hole course.

This Private Course is located on a 2 century old homestead located 3-4 miles away from Seven Acres of Trees and 15 miles from the Newberg courses and 17 miles from Horning's Hideout making Hag lake, Greenway and P.O.M.A.P. field 15 miles either direction away as well... making this new course an ideal location.

That's right ya'll... a new course coming in soon... (private to only P.O.M.A.P members). located in aloha near orchard park... we have a solid front 9 and back 9... a decent 3rd layout is in the process for an additional 9 holes ... to make 27 holes total!!

as many of you know we've been working on 7 acres of trees... now this new course is going to be based more inland. we are talking to a near by shop as a possible sponsor...needless to say the baskets from 7 acres of trees will be on the new course for a trial run.

tomorrow tone poles go in... and will be refined accordingly... once all the pins locations are settled upon the baskets go in... when i design a course i try my best to follow STEADY ED'S guide lines: http://www.discgolfassoc.com/course-design/course-designing-basics.html ... to design a course.

membership will play a huge part in the cost of upkeep for the new course and 7 acres of trees... cost to play is under scrutiny as of now... most likely i'll do a $5.00 tag buy in like i did last time... back in 2008.

the buy in will most likely go for cost of tag (1.09 printing & laminate @ .30 cents) i spent the money raised on ewing young, 7 acres of trees and towards a laminator for the tags so lamination cost is about 3 cents less per tag.

i will keep everyone up to date as much as possible towards the course and cost etc... stay tuned my friends ;)

Hi Matt - lookin' forward to seeing ya'll next weekend, but I've been hearing a lot of rumors. so here's copy of my wall post about the party. PLEASE help spread the word.

There's been a lot of talk about the Hootenanny party and disc golf tourney, coming up next weekend (Sat. May 29th)

To clear up any confusion: The event is $15 per person. This includes a full day of music with 6 bands, onsite camping saturday night, AND the option to enter a casual disc golf tournament. I will have some nice prizes for the top placers.
BUT please be informed - THIS IS NOT A DISC GOLF ORIENTED EVENT. It's a music event with some disc golf.

If you are coming to HH next saturday expecting a professional style tournament please be aware this is not one.
Anyone coming to HH simply for disc golf as a day patron will not be eligible for the Hootenanny DGT.

I'm expecting a wide range of skill level among the players, so we'll have a novice tier and an advanced tier.
Early sign up will begin at 11am sat. including a players meeting to discuss etiquette and expectations. Regular rules will be enforced, but I'm counting on good sportsmanship and peer accountability. any side betting is your responsibility and not to be considered part of the actual tourney. Final sign up and another meeting will be at 3pm. Awards will be handed out around 7:30pm.

can someone please be so kind enough from keizer or salem to take pics of this new course and upload them on to DGS? my dumb ass for got to take them when i was last there... if you want to e-mail me the pics i'll take the time to add the arrows and fotage etc for the holes... also keep in mind there are alt tees for the water holes so if you can try and take pics of those tees aswell... i know thats a lot to ask but that course is rad and if people were able to view the "way of the land" so to speak it might draw more attention to the course.

as far as the basket proses i have welded the main single cross members for two baskets now... Bob Horning donated the top rings that he scraped from the original canyon baskets (18 total rings) my friend derick donated two 20 ft sections of 1 inch angle iron and a few pieces of scrap...

there is talk of fence posting to be donated aswell... so a HUGE THANKS to all that have helped and are still willing to help in donating materials etc... im still in need of 55 gal barrels or whiskey barrel liners for the basket cages... also needed is chain but a friend says he can get me a good deal on that... but any free donated material would be great. stay tuned for further progress on both topics ;)

i know that asking for chain is far fetched but wiskey barrel liners and or 55 gal drums are on the list too. at least nine of the baskets will be installed on my private course "seven acres of trees" and as far as the other nine rings/baskets im willing to negotiate with.

i want to thank everyone that is a part of the club and/or that has shown support for the club...i never thought that when i founded the once small club back in 2008... that it would take off to become oregon's 2nd largest d-golf club.

apparently just alone on this awesome site (DGS) we have 65 registered members... thats not to count the members that are not on the site... making an estimate of some what in the 75-80 active members.

on this site we rank 9th place out of the top 30 clubs... i as the founder of the club chose only to use this site (DGS) thanks to pete and his hard work... im able to enter scores from tourny's/leagues/ etc...

coming in as 2nd ranked in the state of oregon im proud of all that we've accomplished in the last 2 years. being a laid back club we welcome beginners, novice, advance and open players... that just want to get away from the normal political pressures that are involved in huge established clubs.

be it huge groups to single players we tend to become die hards!!! if your a fair weather player thats fine too... the one thing we all have in common is our beloved sport of disc golf... no matter how big this club gets... let it be known that nobody will be turned down to join...

its free to join the club... when money is involved its for tag costs or course maintenance... at all times that is an option that will never be forced upon you as a P.O.M.A.P. member... nor will we ask of you that and/or for donations...

should you choose to make a donation please specify your wants... its really simple...if at any time you have a question... then ask... if at any time you have an idea... then lay it out... no pressure... im just happy for all that support this awesome laid back, die hard bunch of d-golfers that play rain, snow, wind or shine... thank you every one... lets keep up the good work and make d-golf and the likes a sport to be set in stone!!!

We here at P.O.M.A.P. have tried and fought many a battle to save greenway... we've accomplished the addition of trash cans at each tee box and the addition of porrta pottys... also to keep this course from being pulled/removed.

however sadly w/ the amount of damage and disrespect to the course from unknown people... its still on a downward fall... the baskets have been tared, damaged, and even pulled out of the ground... i found #9's basket thrown into part of the marsh/protected habitat area last summer...

the city held a meeting to remove the course... the course was saved but yet no changes have been made to install #9 again... which would led to it's 4th location... the course does not flow and as a result of the missing #9 basket locals have an alt tee back towards #6 basket to make the 9th hole. thus causing more problems w/ the surrounding residents & non d-golf users of the park.

the course shares a natural wild life habitat and plenty of other activities too... yet no mando flight paths have been established as talked about in the meeting... the porta pottys have been pulled and people still deface that course/park... this is not good!!!

the once regulars even go to a different course to play when given a chance... it's a shame as greenway falls in the heart of the whole PDX metro area's courses... did you know that you can play almost any course with in an 11-15 mile radius from this course?

i speak on my own my words above... im done fighting for this course... i amongst many people have stood up to the difficulties in keeping the course alive... in my words fair well greenway it was fun...

i ask that someone else such as brody and the other regulars to please take on the battle... make this cursed course/park into something that all can enjoy... i'll back them fully by myself and im positive P.O.M.A.P. will do the same...

2 saturdays ago the tourny was canceled due to the sponser not showing up... does anyone have info on that situation as to weather that was confirmed or not?

second question is that last saturday the 5th jeff and the sponser did not show again but the tourny was held... i witnessed people getting paid out for placements does anyone know who ran it last saturday?

3rd question rummor has it that there was ance during tourny play and the person did not get the ace pot? can anyone confirm this? if so does anyone know the name of the person who got the ace?

4th jeffs mom n dad are gonna do there best to reimburse this individual as they have been told by jeff that some guy named nick stole the ace pot money can that be confirmed? if so how much was the ace pot up to?

5th question is that the last final tourney is to be held this saturday? if so will the sponser be there? or is it done?

For those that don't know... i have to go to court tomorrow for a DUII charge. I feel i got shafted as i was pulled over in my complex 160 ft from my parking spot. i was never informed of why i got pulled over... i did many field tests... lost my job and my license... times have been tough for me lately.

Im looking at a ton of fines, jail and or work crew, and legal problems for the next year or so... i want to say thanx to everyone that has been there for me throughout my troublesome times the last few months. i really appreciate your kindness and thoughts... not to mention the rides to take me to play etc...

i've always been the driver/ organizer of the majority of P.O.M.A.P. events and play... im truly sorry for falling out as the creator of the club. i never knew it would become the 2nd largest in oregon besides STUMPTOWN.

i'm working with a few Washington players and a few from Portland as well... to correct any and all tag mistakes. I never thought the club would get this big. We have tell the end of this month for the current playable tag matches.

So if you have an incorrect tag let me know. currently i have 2 matches awaiting approval. IT IS DIRE NEED THAT ONLY ONE PERSON SUBMIT SCORES/MATCHES.... please be patient w/ me. i wish you the best.

Greenway has now had trash cans and restrooms added to the course... not by donation or from the money earned but thru dedication and the town meeting of disc golfers supporting it. a big "hats off" to all the P.O.M.A.P. members that took place in the meeting. we saved Greenway from being pulled. thankyou ;)

Horning's Hideout....Canyon course is haveing concrete tee's added... the 3rd and newest course is almost completed... the top course "highlands" i figured we could donate the money to having tee signs printed... making it a tad bit nicer for bob.

3 epic courses on one plot of land!!! highlands is gonna just stay the same w/out our help... anyone have anyother ideas etc plaese contact me. thanx for the time ;)

i also encourage existing members to join in the play if they want. (keep in mind the starting tag will be #40 to whatever the amount of new people join... IE #69 )

i have ghost tag #38 and dave sparrow has ghost tag #37. ghost tag #10 has been found and returned to it's new rightful owner(included w/ the temp tag of a sk8board truck riser). ive chosen not to challenge many players in order to keep #38 or people w/ in the immediate greenway locals so to keep track of it tell the next batch of is printed off.

and last but not least... if this club gets any bigger im gonna start needing to appoint staff members to help me run this monster!!!

im showing 3 submitted rounds for that date please contact me and do not play for tags untill i get this situation under control... i use DGS as pete (owner of site) has been kind enough to set up tag match controllability...

if u have a hard time entering scores or questions let me know and i'll walk you through it as to how i have it set up for tie breakers ( ctp/or played holes) the additional strokes section does not actually ad a stroke to your score it only identifies who placed 1st and so on if you do ctp or actually play the tie breaking hole out right.

i need this to be correct and i need help keeping the scores correct. thanx for the time and i hope this clears any issues up.

The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District has received feedback from neighbors and residents using Greenway Park, regarding disc golf and how it fits in with other park activities.

Since it's opening in spring 2007, the disc golf course has generated many positive comments from local residents. But we've also heard from park users who are concerned about safety. They've pointed out conflicts between the disc golf course and the natural areas and walking paths. In addition, we have received a petition asking that the course be removed - an action that was opposed by other local residents and park users.

Whatever your ideas or opinions may be, please join the staff of the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District for a neighborhood forum on this topic. It will be held Wednesday, May 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Conestoga Recreation and Aquatic Center, Room 203.

The purpose of the forum is to bring the wide variety of Greenway Park users together to discuss these differences of opinion. Through an open exchange of ideas we hope to find a solution that is agreeable to everyone. In the end, our primary goal is to maintain Greenway Park as an open, inviting, multipurpose community park that everyone can enjoy.

THPRD staff from a variety of departments will be in attendance to provide information, answer questions, and facilitate the forum.

it has been brought to my attention that perhaps P.O.M.A.P. should have Bag Tag challenge rules... I say that if another member challenges another member for their bag tag then so bee it!!! what the hell i've gone from tag 8 to tag 14... i never coward to a challenge!!!

but in all fairness to the other players i will throw this out... to see what you have to say... should their be a limited amount of challenges... taken/received per week etc? my vote is no!!!

it defeats the whole concept of a "Bag Tag Challenge" if you are not willing to partake in the challenge... i'll gladly refund your $5.00 purchase to offer the tag to a willing player!!!

3 more tags are left to purchase @ $5.00 a piece. Then mike and i should be able to make the next 18 tags. We had fun and got off to a mathematical error for the 1st annual Bag Tag to determine the handing out of the tags. Since then the majority of the votes were to keep the original tags people were handed out. I the created the P.O.M.A.P. Summer Bag Tag challenge and people are now able to submit matches w/ those tags.

Not a horrible start for only being up and running for 4 days. After taking care of the cost to make the tags (just over $20.00 per 18 tags) we have made a total of $50.00 not counting the additional $15.00 if we sell the 3 remaining tags. If we sell these last tags we will have a total of $65.00 to apply towards discgolf courses, supplies and to the club/discgolf in general.

Next we as a club need to vote on how we want to spend the raised money.

some ideas have been trash cans for greenwaypark... perhaps the better improvement of a few tee boxes at hornings hideout "highlands course" replacing the all gravel tee boxes w/ a honeycomb style coble stone w/gravel mix. Other ideas have been to apply the money towards club events and so on.

so last night some jackass decided to rip basket #9...concrete and all out of the ground. i have found the basket way off to the right of the fairway simi submerged in the marsh. i noticed fresh trampeled tall grass and decided to follow the trail and sure enough there it was.

i called the park and rec department and they now have the basket. they plan to reinstall it in the next few days.

also it looks like the vandal(s) tried to rip basket #1 out of the ground as well as it now sits crooked and loose in the ground. this is very upsetting to us here at P.O.M.A.P. and should also be upsetting to discgolfers as a whole!!!

Greenway is a nice park/course and we have been fighting hard to save the course from the park and rec department from pulling this course. i urge anyone that plays there to do their best by maintaining the course and following the course rules. we can not afford to loose Greenway as it sits perfectly in the center of a 5 to 10 mile radius of 8 other courses.

Please Call the Park and Rec department @ (971) 246-0169 if you have any information leading to the vandal(s) that defaced Greenway on 5-1-09 or any jackass' that may cause problems in the future. thanx for the time as always.

ok people we need lrg/5 gallon buckets (laundry detergent/big paint can style buckets/cat litter buckets) etc... 9 "J" hooks and two cans of spray paint (preferably a dark color IE black,green,or brown) and one can of white.

the idea is to set up a similar situation that they have at Orchard Park in providing trash cans per every tee box. this is in hopes that being there is only 3 provided trash cans we can cut down on the trash at our course.

someone from the club plays there almost every day so its a guarantee that the buckets will be well maintained and emptied out daily. thus keeping the course cleaner and giving us discgolfers the edge to prove to the community that we don't want our course pulled from the park.

im not asking anyone to go out and buy buckets but please save any empty ones that you may have and as far as the paint goes if you have a spare can laying around and want to donate it to the cause that would be great. and as always any more thoughts/ideas are welcomed. thanx

ok people!!!! i can't seem to enforce the simple effort it takes to write your full name and number on your plastic. recently i have found a lot of discs the majority of them at dabney state park and 2 at vance park.

also i lost one at dabney on hole #2 water hazord ( was a crystal clear champ wraith that i found @ vance w/ no name/number on it at the time.... i wrote my name/number on it) i pegged the tree limb and it plopped straight down center of the pond. after the round was done i went swimming for it... never found it but came out w/ a combined 18 or so discs between crazy mike and i and only 3 of the ones i retrieved had names/numbers on them the rest were un marked by their owners.

we all know it sux to loose ur disc so in good karma i made effort in contacting the numbers. (some of them looked like they had been sitting there for years ) i will say that i spent 45 minutes in my boxers trying to locate my disc but never found it. now i have a head cold and a ripped up shin from that nasty ass pond.

i searched pete's friend list and came up w/ only one member w/ the same 1st name but no last name on the disc and wrote him a message. the rest have been called 1 to 2 times and every one has been text messaged. no reply from anyone so in my last good faith effort of returning the lost discs i will post the names here. if anyone wants to claim their disc just simply pm me w/ the type it was (color model etc) i think thats a simple request for my hard spent time retrieving them. also if any one comes across my lost disc please call me ( my name and number is on it) to let me know you have found it... then i will gratefully offer for you to keep it for your hard tasks work as i know it sux in that pond and you have earned that disc!!!

everyone is tired from playing pier, milo and timber so it seems the majority of the crew wants to sleep in. i worked all day and got up early too... so i want to sleep in as well. so the plan is to play ewing young and champoeg and a possible herbert hoover (if the course isn't swampy which it most likely will be). i spose meeting time would be at greenway/my apartment around 11:30 or at ewing young by 12:00 noon play some rounds have fun then possibly sneak in a round or 2 at greenway before sundown if anyone wants too. any questions just call me.

so it is confirmed byrons plumbing has a 3 hole pitch n' putt course behind their shop. it's located just off of cipole rd it has a center tee w/ 3 baskets in 3 of the 4 corner lot. home made baskets 2 of the holes are about 100ft to 120ft and the 3rd i'd say is about 75 ft. the business was closed when i checked the spot out. i would imagine it is privite and not open to the public. i will provide more info when it becomes available.

w/ all the recent changes the flow of the course sucks now. and now it has been patrolled by T.H.P.R.D. and they seem to only single out discgolfers. play by the rules/laws and all should be fine. but as of lately i find myself hating the course more and more. it's my home course and i'd rather drive 12 miles to Orchard park than walk 3 minutes across the street from my apartment to play at Greenway DGC.

I'm calling on all discgolfers to take back the course and stand up against the bastards. or we will loose this course and that will be a shame as it sits in the middle of the majority of most portland metro area courses.

Once again hole #9 has been relocated and now there is an extremely long walk from basket #8 to the non existing tee box for hole #9s new location. i feel this breaks up the flow of the course even more now being that it is located on the other side of the park then the rest of the holes. and you almost have to shoot over a basket ball course to get to the basket. i can see this causing huge problems. not to mention after finishing the hole you have to walk up and around past hole #2 to get back to hole #1's tee box.
