On to the summer leagues. I sure hope we keep seeing all of you come out each week . . . and hopefully you bring some friends out too.

Congratulations to our Division Winners Terry Miller, Brian Moser, Jeremy Morgan, Jacob Klug, and Lori Locke, and to our mulligan raffle winners including Gary Obernbeger who won the Innova traveler basket! Go practice putting Gary, Semi-Pro is gonna challenge you in the summer season.

There will be a handful of people moved up a division for the summer season because their scores indicated a talent more suitable for a higher division. Please realize this is only to protect the intention of these leagues. We want everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves and noone has earned the right to completely dominate a division. We are not accusing you of intentionally sandbagging (well most of you at least), just that your game improved dramatically during the season. We let some people stay the entire season because there were divisional implications that we didn't want to impact.

We also do hope to establish another 4th division which would be people who generally shoot above par or right around par. Advanced will remain Even to -4, Semi-Pro will remain -5 to -8, and Open will be anyone who wants to pay for cash or is averaging around -8 or better. If you are under the average but dominated this season and won money nearly every week, please expect to be moved up. We hope this doesn't discourage anyone from not coming, but if you are only coming to league to win funny money, you are not seeing the bigger picture.

Be sure to telly our loved ones you will be late so you can come to BW3 for the drawing for the extra prizes and cheer for your friends who happened to place well in their division. For those of you dominating your division, be prepared to be moved up a division to allow others a chance to win soem funny money and place well overall. It is only fair, and I hope it doesn't discourage you from continuing to come to league, I hope it is incentive for you to come and play with better players.

Well one disc night is complete . . . only the second time in the history of Valley View leagues has this game been played this way. Some of you have to love one disc night and other have to hate it.

Take this advice . . . if you shot really well this week, was it your technique or was it that you didn't have to think about what disc to throw . . . you only had to think about how to throw that one disc? If you played really poorly, why is that? Was it because you couldn't putt with your driver, or because you couldn't drive withy our putter?

I for one threw a fairly nuetral mid-range Star Spider for 2 reasons . . . I can throw it either way (left to right or right to left) and I also feel fairly comfortable putting with it. I have carried it for years as my putter in the 2 disc nights I have played and it has not let me down as a viable option. Last night it let me down on the turnover shots . . . it wouldn't keep the anhyzer and would cut out short and left of the basket, but I was able to make some good putts with it to shoot 48 (-6) . . . which was 3 shots better than the last time we did 1 disc night at VV leagues, so I cannot be too upset.

Take a minute to analyze your game, your disc selection, and why you played really well or really poorly. Was it good driving so you didn't even have to worry about putting much, or was it excellent putting with mediocre driving?

I for one was astonished by the ability of Dustin Skorupinski this week, he chose a Nuke as his 1 disc and he flicked it, threw it backhand, and he made a lot of 15-25' putts with it to tie his second best round in leagues 45 (-9). He putted with confidence . . . . and a little anhyzer to keep that baby in the chains, but I cannot think of many misses left or right, only low. I SIMPLY PUT . . . COULD NOT PUTT WITH MY DRIVER . . . EVER! Dustin apparently knows how! Seek him out for advice if you want to learn how to putt with a Nuke.

Ok enough with the stories . .. onto the recaps.

In the Open Division we saw a few of the guys who come every so often play well. Todd Farnham (-14) and Kyle Dolezar (-13) took the top two spots with outstanding rounds for 1 disc night. Jonny V was in third with (-12) and there was a 3 way tie for last cash at (-11) between Terry Miller, Jose Rivera, and Casey Connors. Dave Olson who is sitting in 3rd place faltered with his worst round in leagues, but maintains a slight edge over TJ Weber.

In Semi-Pro we saw the leader Brian Moser extend his lead as Mike Ellery didn't show for 1 disc extravaganza and Gordon Frater passed up Ellery for 2nd place. David Scalf also jumped into the top 3 because of Mike not showing. Brian shot a (-10) and complained about how he would be so mad about shooting his best round with 1 disc . . . Well it happened, now what can you learn from this week? Maybe you should always throw 1 disc? I doubt he is mad with another weekly win, the $20 funny money, or extending his lead in the division. He might be mad when he gets bumped to Open for the summer division, but his scores are leading him in that direction. Dustin Skoupinski shot (-9) along with Kyle Sparrow and Scott Smogeleski (both personals best league rounds ever). Gordon Frater and Matt Chellman tied for the last cash spot.

In the Advanced divison we saw some jostling in the standings. Jeromy Morgan shot his best round at VV leagues (-11) to win the week and vault into the overall lead, while Ned England faltered slightly moving down to 3rd place overall, allowing Jeromy and Gary Obernberger to move ahead of him.Jim Marek showed more consistent play (and another personal best round of -7) to take second this week, while newcomers John Gunderson, and Adam Sather both shot (-5) to tie for 3rd adn Cody England and Andy Kintop both shot (-4) to tie for the last cash spot.

In the Women's Division we saw some hot shooting by one hot lady. . . . Loriena Harrington . . . (yeah I can say that because it's my wife) who shot the best score overall this week with a (+3) . . . which is funny because when I saw her after the round she thought she had a +6 . . . she forgot to subtract her birdies and she originally thought she had 4 bogies instead of just 3. In second we saw Nikki Feilen steal a point from Brianna. It might be too little too late for Nikki who has only been here three weeks, but you never know with double points night if she is able to pull off a victory. What I want to know is how our one disc Woman Tiffanie didn't show on her night (1 disc night)? I saw her play 2 maybe 3 rounds during the day while I was out there working on mulch, cutting trees, and doing basket maintenance, but she didn't stick around for league. WHile she didn't lose her top spot in the divison, Brianna made it a little tighter and Loriena is creeping up on 3rd place with Lori Locke. Come on ladies, I would love to keep seeing 4-5-6 of you out there every week!

We saw two aces on the week with Jose Rivera (shooting his best ever round by far (-11) with an ace on #17 and Todd Farnham (who is known or his ace runs) hit #16 with his R-Pro Dart :). They split $45. Never do I remember so many aces at Valley View . . . In fact I remember the ace pool climbing near $100 a couple of times last year, one of which I hit. I had every intention of running at aces each week knowing I wasn't able to cash in Open very regularly, but it is hardly worth it with an ace being hit every week.

2 more weeks of spring league, regular old "throw however many discs you want night" next week and then double points night to end the league followed by a party at BW3 where we will announce our seasonal winners and give away the basket and other prizes from the mulligan purchases!

Tomorrow is 1 disc night . . . I hope this is our biggest night of the season, it looks to be one of the nicest and with all the fresh mulch spread around #3, 7, 9, and 10 there will not be much of a mess out there even with the recent rains . . . just keep that 1 disc on the fairway.

I am not afraid to say I will most likely be bringing my Star Spider with me. I can make it hyzer, anhyzer, but most importantly I can putt with it. I cannot put with a driver, and other discs I can eithe ronly hyzer or anhyzer, so i am going for it all with my choice of the Star Spider.

What disc will you bring and why?

On another note, if Tiffanie shows up, we might allow her to carry 2 discs since, every night is one disc night for her and her Eagle.

In Open we saw Jonny V shoot the hot round (-16) with Terry following behind at (-14). Joe Rawling who will be leaving our area within the next week came and Drew Retherford ended in a tie for third with (-13) and Dane Miller had his best round at VV leagues (-12) to take the last cash. Jonny V jumps ahead of Dave Olson, and TJ Weber leapfrogged Scott Slauson who stopped coming to league. Drew Griswold, Brad Weber, and I are battling for Mr. Insignificant . . . to take something from the NFL draft.

In Semi-Pro we saw newcomer Max McCollow shoot an Open caliber score (-11) to take the win. I am waiting to hear back if he thinks he should be in Open or if this was an out of character score for him. He is a good guy so I know he will do the right thing. Following closely behind at (-9) was Brian Moser and the "Wiley" Veteran Mike Ellery. Then we saw Dustin Skorupinski and Scott Smogeleski tie for last cash with (-8). Brian Moser still maintains a decent lead in the division (and he doesn't pay for the mulligans), but there are three people batling for 2nd place between Mike Ellery, Dave Scalf, and Gordon Frater with Dustin Skorupinski lagging a few points behind. It is going to be an interesting end to the season!

In Advanced we saw another Open caliber score (-11) by Brian Greibl who is averaging (-6 or so) is one of the primare people to be bumped up. (-11) is a great score and not something that you would expect to see from what we intend to be the Advanced Division. It is more of the Semi-Pro division type of score shown partially by the fact that he won the week in the division by 4 strokes. When setting up divisions we need closer competition than that to keep everyone interested. We also saw Lee Ireland and Eric Jaske shoot (-7). Then we had a 4 way tie for two last cashs pots and Matt Walczyk, Jim Marek, Scott Hintz, and Ned England (I TOLD YOU SO LAST WEEK) with (-6). Ned vaults into the lead with the previous leader Jeremy Morgan not showing up this week and the battle for the divisional win is only 2 points seperating the top 3 players.

In The Women's division we again had 5 women show up to do battle and we saw Lori Locke (Even) win the week with Tiffanie Meissner come in 2 shots behind and taking 2nd place and the divisional standings there also got really tight between Tiffanie, Brianna, and Lori.

Congratulations to the winners of the most dueces, most threes, and most fours. Jonny V won the most dueces with 16, Mike S. won the most pars with 16 and Kaitlinn Peterson won the most bogies with 10.

Matt Walczyk also hit an ace on #5 to take the $48 ace pool down.

Next week is 1 disc night.

Wow - we are already looking to play in week 7 of league tonight. With that being said - we are on in rain or shine! I'm betting on the fact that we won't even see any rain. I mean come on, when was the last time the forecast was ever right?

Anyway - we are ON tonight so be there as early as possible and we'll keep things moving along swiftly. If you get there way early make sure you find Mike Harrington and help him in spreading out some wood chips on the course.

We have been lucky this spring with decent weather, I think this is the first rain we have had this season during league and am thankful for that. We still hit 52 people this week despite a couple regulars not showing and the worst weather so that isn't too bad, but I expect a return to normal or an improvement and hitting 60 plus people again each week. YOU CAN DO IT!

In the Open division we saw Brad Weber shoot his best round of the season (-13) to win this week. We also saw Dave Olson, TJ Weber, and Greg Schwartz shoot just one worse (-12) than Brad, but multiple strokes better than two of our longtime Open division competitors to move up in the standings. Taking last cash with his first visit to VV this season was Todd Farnham with a (-11) who also recorded what looks to be the only ace this week which should be a nice $46 cash in his pocket or $69 in funny money. We all sure hope we haven't seen the last of Scott Slauson (who recently declared he may be playing more at Sussex Leagues than VV) . . . even if it means more cash available to the next level of open player. . . he has been a mainstay at VV since I started playing the game and we will all miss him if he decides that other leagues should take precedence over the fun that can be had at VV each week. I have to say that partially because he helped me cash in my first ever Open division tournament . . . the Pro Howler last season, but he is a good friend and always a welcome addition to my card and any league I play in! Enough about the pros . . . its not about us anyways!

In Semi-Pro we saw the leaders falter allowing many points to be taken away by the gentlemen just below them in the standings. While Brian Moser maintains his lead (proving he is ready for OPEN next season) and Gordon Frater teetering on that same level between Semi-Pro and Open, We saw the 3rd and 4th place players take some points away. David Scalf and Mike Ellery both shot (-7) to lessen the gap that Gordon and Brian had set. Kevin Boucher and Jason Froemming also shot (-7) but have more ground to make up. However, we also had two hot rounds by Dan Kohler (-8) and Dustin Skorupinski (-12) to take the top 2 positions this week. I also got an email from Dustin tonight about adding him to the Disc Golf Scene Notification list . . . apparently he is now hooked and looking to continue to move up in the standings otherwise he wouldnt care to receive the notifications. Dustin ended in 5th place overall but is only a few points behind the wiley veteran Mike Ellery, but Dustin has already missed one week, meaning he is playing well when he is here. Look out Mike!

In the Advanced division we saw the top point earner Ned England (and I am sure to hear about this comment next week at league) falter by shooting his worst round all season. I am sure my comments from last weeks League News got to him slightly, even though they were not meant negatively. Remember folks this game is both physical and mental . . . and sometimes you need to push through even though the setting might not be ideal or your game is not at its best. You can learn from every week and every round you play . .. the quicker you learn from each round, the quicker you will continue to improve. SORRY Ned you became my example for this week, but I hope you and others take what I say to heart, I have learned a lot about the game in 3 short years and it isn't always fun to hear or see, but it sure is fun when you take steps forward! Here is to a return of Ned England returning to the top of his division next week when he ties his best round all season (-7)! OK OK Enough about Ned . . .We also saw Jeremy Morgan launch into the overall lead with yet another hot round of (-8). It wasn't his best round at VV but was the best on the week and that is all that matters in terms of points. Lucas Nuss came in tying his best VV league round of (-7) to take some points away from the rest of the top of the division. We also saw a 5 way tie from some more regulars and some newer players. Gary OOOOOOOO, Lee ireland, Jim Marek, Brian Greibl, and newcomer Andy Guyette came in with (-4) rounds to take the last cash spot.

In the Women's division we saw the race for points get tighter because Tiffanie (the leader) was not here and second place holder Brianna Welch took second this week moving her just 1 point behind Tiffanie overall. Lori Locke wins this week and remains in 3rd overall but she is only 2.5 points behind and she has already missed 3 weeks. Loriena Harrington and Nikki Feilen are still in the hunt, but 6 points behind Lori Locke.

We did see another ace this week . . . and by someone who already hit the Ace Pool in league . . . it's about time he come over to BW3 and spread the wealth as is customary! Anyways congratulations to Brian Moser for again hitting an ace . . .this time he did it on #18 which is a little more legitimate than his prior ace on #4. Brian told me this was only his 5th ace overall and it happens to be his second in 5 weeks of league at Valley View. I'm probably up around 350 rounds over 3+ years at VV with only 6 aces. Two of mine were in league and worth about $150 in funny money . . . so you know I got my money's worth out of the weekly $1 Ace Pool. You just never know wheny ou are going to hit one, so why would you ever not get in on a course where you could hit just about any hole any given week.

Anyways enough about the Ace and on to the key feature of Week #5 . . . DOUBLE POINTS.

In the Open Division we saw some of the usual suspects and some of the not so usual suspects play well. We had Dave Olson, Drew Griswold, and Mark Klug pick up a few dollars for their 3 way tie for last cash with rounds of (-12). Then we saw longtime Valley View competitor Kyle Dolezar come in 1 stroke better (-13) to take 3rd all alone. Then we also had perennial player Scott Slauson beat KD by 1 stroke with a (-14), only to be surpassed by the Open Division leader and league director Terry miller who shot one of only a handful of (-17)'s that I have ever heard of. Fortunately he only missed #14 . . . which is one of the two hardest holes on the course in my opinion. Terry extended his lead to 19 points currently . . . while Scott who sits in second already missed one week . . . allowing Dave Olson to be really close to the action for the top of the VV Open Division.

In Semi Pro we saw the top two players in the division falter slightly (well not in score but in comparison to a few of the newer players). We saw Jason Froemming come in with an Open caliber (-10) as well as kid wonder Zach Walczak . . . who might want to both show up next week to play off for the extra half point. DS Squared (Dustin Skorupinski and David Scalf) both came in with (-9) this week to end in a tie for third this week.Yet again a 3 way tie for last cash between Brian Moser, Randy Reicher, and Kyle Sparrow who all shot (-8). The leader remains Brian Mower and a bunch of points behind him is Gordon Frater followed by one half od DS Squared Dave Scalf in third place.After third there is a heated battle to try and move up. I suggest all of you continue to come each week and try your best to move into the top 3 of the division as you all have proven capable of doing.

In Advanced we saw Ned E. Jeremy M. and Gary O. all add to their divisional lead with Holly Finley trying to rain on the parade (but in overall standings Holly will struggle to break the top 3 unless she decides to come each week. Right now she sits in 10th place after playing only 2 of the 5 weeks. Look out BOYS . . . there is a woman coming for your points. Ned actually passes Jeremy in the standings because of allt he ties happening, but Jeremy M. could easily shoot the hot round next week and get those points right back.

In the Women's division we saw 6 women this week . . . as far as I know . . . the most women in the division as I can remember (add in Holly Finley and that is 7 in attendace this week). I am excited by what I see . . . we could use more women in our sport and it is nice to see a trend at the casual and fun VV leagues. Tiffanie again took the top spot and ended up with $12 and 12 points for her efforts while Nikki F. and Lori Locke ended up doing better than the other divisional competitors this week (Loriena H. and Brianna W.). I love to see the competition with all of you ladies . . . and it is so close every week which makes it even better. Bring some of your other lady friends and maybe they will get hooked just like all of you did.

On another note . . . Our lone Advanced Division Female Holly FInley won twice this past week . . . first she won the Intermediate Women Division at the supertour event the Glass Blown Open by Dynamic Discs. Then she went on to win the Take Your Disc to Work photo contest. SO if you need some specific disc be sure to ask Holly if maybe she would donate it to you? If any of you do not know Holly is an international fashion model . . . and her photo entry was her in a $10,000 Oscar (De La Renta not the Oscars) gown shown practice putting before a runway show. She was the judge favorite and got a $500 Discraft shopping spree for her photo entry.

That's right folks, week 5 has arrived . . . not quite as early as our spring weather, but double points night is here. If you plan to have any chance of placing in your division you better not miss double points night because there are usually the busiest weeks of league each season. Nobody wants to miss the chance to get twice as many points as any other week and anyone who intends to place near the top of their division cannot miss this week. I expect a record turnout this week . . . despite what might not be perfect weather. Maybe we should set up pre-reg for leagues on iregisteredonline.com so noone misses out on a spot.

So 2 disc night has come and gone. Some people improved their scores, some people fell back to their average, while other plummted in their scores. Everyone is different and some people benefit from only have 2 discs, others struggle.

In the Open division we saw David Post post (not a typo) an incredibly hot round of -16. He seemed to be walking around as if he didn't expect that to be the top score. I personally have only heard of a few -16's each season and only a couple -17's or -18's in over 3 years of playing this league, so when I heard that is what he shot I was sure that was the top score. Then we had newcomer Kyle Koconis come in and shoot a -14 and he almost played Semi-Pro. The two front runners Terry M. and Jonny V. took big hits to their point total leads by both shooting -9's and David P. vaulted into 3rd with that hot round. We also saw a 4 way tie again for the last cash spot in open . . . contributed by the fact we continue to get 16 or more people every week!!! I think double points night might be the night we see who the future of the Open Division will be.

In Semi-Pro we saw Gordon Frater shoot a hot -11 (Open caliber score for sure) in what I believe was his first 2 disc night at Valley View. Greg Klein made a return to the VV leagues after quite some time away (welcome back Greg . . . we all missed you). Hopefully Estabrook doesn't keep you away for that long again. Greg shot a -10 and Brian Moser shot -9 and there was another 3 way tie for the last cash spot in Semi Pro too.

In Advanced we saw Jeremy Morgan shoot his best round at Valley View (-9) to take the win, followed closely by Adam Kindred with a -8 and two -7's Lucas Nuss and Lee Ireland and a -6 by Jim Marek to take the final cash spot.

The Women's division saw 5 women this week which is outstanding to see and this was by far the closest I have ever seen 5 women shoot in scores before. We saw Tiffanie Meissner shoot a -1, Loriena Harrington shoot he personal best of E, and newcomer Kaitlin Peterson with a +2. 1 stroke back was the godmother if Wednesday Weeklies Bree Welch who I am sure will be bringing all of her skills next week to double points night, so all you ladies better look out, competition is getting fierce int he battle for the Women's Division.

Another great attendance week, keep it coming, bring your friends, hopefully now the crowd will thin out with more courses being open, but I hope that doesn't pull anyone away from leagues . . . keep in mind you can play casual rounds at all those other courses on other days, so don't stop coming to Wednesday Weeklies. I want to see us raise our numbers into the 60's each week. We no longer have to deal with the lack of light so don't be afraid to bring some friends. We will finish on time . . . and perhaps even throw in a couple sidegames from time to time after the round is over (now that we have the light to do it).

I almost forgot . . . 2 aces this week too. Congratulations to TJ Weber for his ace on #18 and Dan Kohler who aced #10 . . . in the long position. I have never heard of that basket being aced so congratulations on that. Either you threw an incredible shot . . . or you hit a tree and kicked in, I'd like to hear the story because I picked that pin position out because of its difficulty. I felt like VV needed a tougher green, sure some luck is involved possibly on that hole, but I think there are plenty of ways to try and get it close there. Dan you can also thank the lock on the basket . . . because I was unable to move the basket because the lock was stuck.

I know there will be a ton of people coming to the first week of Valley View League . . . why you ask? Because we are the first league in the area to start and the weather is supposed to be like the normal weather in June. Why not celebrate this glorious weather with all of us regulars at Valley View. Invite your friends, bring someone who has never played the game, but whatever you do . . . do not miss the first week! I will personally donate something to the league (to be given away after the round on week 1) if we can hit the magical number of 75 attendees. What will it be you ask? Well the only way you will find out is if we are able to get 75 people there on Wednesday March 21st by 5:45 for checkin. It takes a lot of work to turn everyone around and get them checked in and draw up scorecards so do your part. If you can't make it by 5:45 don't be discouraged, we still want you to come, but be sure to notify Terry or myself when you will be arriving, but if you cannot make it by 6:00 sharp we will have to tee off without you unfortunately.

While Matt Atherton clearly had an impact on attendance tonight I am disappointed that we did not sell out leagues tonight. Let's see if we can improve the attendance again next week and get back to having 70-80 people show up for league! I am so happy to see the divisions matching up so nicely with 16-18 people per division for Advanced, Semi-Pro, and Open. I t was also awesome to see 4 women show up tonight because we used to get between 3-5 women each night in previous years. My wife Loriena Harrington will be returning to league next week hopefully and Loretta Ellery (long time league attendee) also plans to return for the summer session.

We had some tight battles this week and 1 stroke could cost you a whole lot of points or money even. In the Open division there was yet again a multi-person tie for the last cash spot . . . last week it was a 4 way tie at -12, this week it was a 5 way tie at -10. It looks as if none of those in the tie (myself included both weeks) "Didn't Want It" quite enough or we would have made the one putt we regret.

Last week saw a tie in the Semi-Pro division that was played off tonight with Mike Ellery beating Brian Moser. This week is no different . . . there is another tie between Josh Servi and Joe Behmke (who both shot -9) . . . if you want that valuable 1/2 point I suggest you both return to settle the tie!

The Advanced division also saw a tie between Jeremy Morgan and Lee Ireland at -7. I also suggest you show up and paly off that tie for the extra half point. You never know if that 1/2 point will cost you!!!

We also saw somethng I haven't seen in a while . . . 3 aces . . . and they were all in the ace pool. They each took home $32 cash or $48 in funny money for their efforts . . . I on the otherhand offered up a wager to Matt Atherton of $2.00 that I would get an ace tonight (I just felt it was my time for another league ace) and I was unable to perform under the pressure (at least I hit the pole once), but I would like to think I had an impact in our group because we kept talking about acing in the face . . . Kyle Dolezar did just that, he aced in our faces . . . and for all you ace hounds out there notice you didn't hear a lot of hooting and hollering . . . we all high fived and kept it nice and calm! That's how professionals (and I use that term loosely) celebrate a 152' Ace . . . Just Sayin!

Newcomer Lori Locke came in and successfuly put the pressure on Brianna to keep working at her game and getting to that threshhold of even par or under par . . . Lori if you keep coming each week I look forward to the battle between you, Brianna, and my wife . . . it should be interesting to watch.

I look forward to more unseasonable weather because VV spring leagues have often had one of those cold and miserable weeks that only a few people show up for. Lets just keep everything where it is for another few weeks and enjoy this weather while we have it!

On another note . . . Terry Won Open . . . but Scott Slauson (was the current point leader) didn't make it tonight so Terry vaults into the lead and he only stretches his lead over the rest of the division with all of the ties taking place.

Typically we begin sometime in March, so hang on for a few more weeks. We would love for you to bring out some new friends who either haven't played in a league, or just a friend who hasn't been to Valley View Leagues before. We would love to establish a complete Amateur division and find a couple more women to play in league again as they seemed to disappear this season. My wife plans to play the VV spring league session so if any ladies are just being shy . . .don't be there will be at least 1 other woman there most weeks.

I have been busting my butt for the last 2 weeks trying to stay afloat with work (the lawn and landscape season is about 4 weeks ahead of schedule) but I still had time and energy to get the scores posted the night of league after BW3. . . but I literally was falling asleep at my computer so i didnt want to mis-publish payouts and have someone come up and say I saw it . . . the league page said I won $312 for 4th place in Advanced, so I saved that for tonight rather than put Terry in an "Awkward" position next week.

Scores are up, money has been tallied and payouts are posted . . . now for the weekly recap.

Congratulations to Brian Moser . . .he was able to collect $53 unofficially for his incredibly diffcult shot on #4 (ahem . . . . the shortest hole on the course). I personally have a fondness (I have two aces here myself) for this hole and I have heard Terry was supposedly perfect on this hole in 2011 with a birdie every time he played it. Oh wait I was supposed to talk about Brian's ace . . . well I didn't get any details but I suppose we will still payout the acepool anyways. Just an FYI for everyone out there . . . the odds of a 900 PDGA rated player making a shot from 150 feet is 1/238. So if you play 238 times at Valley View you should ace approximately 1 time on this hole. I have played this hole 352 times . . . and I have 2 aces (1/176) . . .so I have a while to go before I hit this one again . . . as far as the odds say! I actually had to use my mulligan on this . . . the shortest hole . . .and I still ended up with a 3 . . . SO Congratulations to Brian for the ace pool hit. You can also turn that into $80 in funny money for that special purchase of Terry's merchandise in case you wanted to buy that special someone something . . . or yourself.

Now enough about Brian's ace and my stupid statistics! (I take certain liberties because I keep the statistics and write these news items, so it will often turn into stories about me . . . for no other reason than I can make it happen!

A quick note about the divisions . . . we have seen an incredibly well spread grouping of people attending league . . . we have been having 14-20 people in each of the 3 main divisions each week. not only does that keep everyone interested . . . but it also keeps us from having to preventatively shift people to different divisions solely on the fact that they are winning the division each week (Gary O . . . you were the closest person so far because of your -11 in week 1. . . but you followed that up with a truly Advanced score (+2) so we didn't move you . . . then you bounced back with a perfect Advanced level score (-5) this week, so i am pretty sure you are Advanced to stay for the spring season, but look forward to seeing you elevate your game to Semi-Pro in the Summer Session). With more people comes more payout spots and the winner does not take a higher percentage of the funds . . . more people get a piece of the action and that makes it fun for more than just 1 or 2 people each week. We will be shifting people up to higher divisions based on their averages or their overall standing in a division (like we used to do) but only in extreme circumstances prior to the end of the spring session, since you all seem to be abiding by our desire to keep the flights consistent! Thank you all for your honesty . . . league should be about fun and not about how much funny money you can win!

In Open this week we saw Terry falter slightly letting his long-time friend Jonny V take the W with his (-14). We also saw David Post (who voluntarily stepped up to Open this season (THANK YOU DAVID) take home his first cash(and tie the Course Pro Terry Miller with a (-12) . . . congratulations on the success this week, I am pretty sure Terry won't bogey 16 again nest week. I personally plan to avenge my poor showing next week so you better keep bringing it David P.!!!!! We also saw TJ Webber and Mark Klug (both new voluntary Open players) take home some cash . . . and Dave Olson snuck it out to take home $4 also . . . Don't forget folks . . . you can always turn that cash into funny money if there is something you are saving up for . . . Terry has been gracious enough to offer this option to ams playing pro . . . who might still need to purchase discs or equipment. It's almost like a company matching retirement plan if you think about it!

In Semi-Pro we saw the man who aced Brian Moser also shoot the hot round (-10) (ahem . . . all three rounds for him this season are Open Caliber). We also saw a newcomer Jason Froemming come in second with a solid (-9) and a 3 way tie for third between Gordon Frater, Dustin Skorupinski (one of last weeks aces), and Jared Jacobson . . .each taking home $11 funny money for their efforts.

In Advanced we saw yet another reall hot round for the divison (that should be shooting between Even and (-4). Week one the winner shot (-11), week 2 the winner shot (-7) and week 3 the winner shot (-8). This just goes to show you folks in Advanced . . . you have the ability to shoot great scores but may just lack consistency. I expect to see the top 4 or 5 people in this division playing in Semi-Pro next session . . . and I bet you will cash regularly also if you can work on the consistency.

In the Junior division we again had 2 . . .Jacob Klug had an Advanced level score of (+1) to take the division lead.

In the ever popular Women's divison at Valley View leagues we saw Brianna and newcomer Tiffanie tie with (+1) and will need to both show up next week to playoff for that all important 1/2 point. Loriena (my wife) was welcomed back to leagues with her second best round at Valley View (+3) and I expect she will be challenging the leader in this divison each week. Well she will if she wants to get any new plastic! Just Sayin!

He is a great supporter of Lifetime Disc Sports and also the league director of the Spassland leagues on Thursdays in Germantown. I expect to see this week sell out because of Matt's attendance so be sure to show up early between 5:15-5:30 to guarantee a spot in this weeks league!
