In light of the continued restriction on gathering size and other information from Gov. DeWine's plan to reopen the state, we have extended the suspension of the Wednesday Doubles League through May 13th.

When the state comes out with new advisories about the process (likely in a couple of weeks time), we will reevaluate in consultation with Medina Parks.

We appreciate everybody maintaining social distancing while playing the Medina courses.

I just got off the phone with the director from Medina Parks. Apparently yesterday there were several calls to Medina Police about gatherings of players at a disc golf course not adhering to social distancing. He told me that they don't want to have to, but if they continue to get similar calls or they see players congregating they will have not other option but to pull all the baskets.
Medina Parks wants to work with us to keep the course open (the director is heading out right now to post additional signs by some of the tee boxes), but ultimately this really comes down to us disc golfers:

Don't play in groups larger than 4. (Just a twosome or a solo round even better).
Even if a small group, don't gather together at tee boxes. Maintain 6 foot separation.
Self-police. If you see another group not adhering to social distancing rules, tell them to break it up.(especially if new player/not as connected to our community). Better that disc golfers break it up and promote good behavior than have it called in.
Follow other PDGA recommendations for safe play. Only handle your own disc, don't contact other players, etc.
* Doubles league is suspended. Please don't try to replicate it with scrambles etc... it increases the likelihood of group gatherings and violations of other items listed above that could get the baskets pulled.

Continuing to take in account information from the state, CDC, and WHO, Medina Disc Golf has decided to extend the suspension of the Wednesday Scramble League until at least May 6th.

You may note that this is consistent with the PDGA announcement today. (https://www.pdga.com/announcements/covid-19-statement) While we are not an official sanctioned PDGA league, this suspension is consistent with the intent of helping slow the spread of the virus.

We will be doing our Spring Meeting via web/video conferencing on March 30th at 6 PM if you want to discuss this in more detail.

Based on information from the state, CDC, and talking with several NE Ohio health care professionals, Medina Disc Golf has decided to suspend the Wednesday Scramble League until at least April 8th.

We understand that it might be disappointing to those who enjoy playing in the weekly league at Roscoe, but hope you understand. Note that as of now, the parks and courses are still open; we are just no longer operating a Medina Disc Golf run league during this time period with cash entries and payouts. That being said, if you do play, please take appropriate measures to help mitigate the spread of the virus. According to PDGA recommendations, this includes, but is not limited to:
- Handling only your own disc
- Don't share food or water
- Limit high-fives, fist bumps and other contact
- If you are sick or feel sick, please stay away

The Youth Disc Golf Event is this Saturday in Medina at Poolside Disc Golf Course (421 E Homestead St, Medina, Ohio 44256). If you know a kid 7-12 years old who has an interest in disc golf, this is a great event. For $15 they get a disc, lunch, and a fun disc golf experience with lots of other kids their age.

We'll take registrations the morning of, although if you could pre-register that's helpful in terms of planning for how much food we'll need. You can either pay in advance or cashless preregister by commenting here on DiscGolfScene.

$6 entry ($1 goes to the club, $5 to payout)

We are scheduling a work day on Sunday, January 13th at 1 PM to help clean up holes ahead of the Frozen Fingers event. Meet at the parking lot on Guilford by the Old 8/9 holes and we'll move from there so we can tackle what needs the most attention on Masi and Roscoe. We'll work for a few hours and if you bring your discs, afterward we'll play a round if there is enough interest.

We are planning another course work event at Roscoe, this time focusing on holes 7 and 8 along the left and moving on from there. The idea behind this one is to have a short, "blitz" work effort and knock out what we can in an hour, maybe hour and a half. The more people and equipment, the more efficient we can be and quicker we can finish up.

Meet by the practice basket at Roscoe Ewing at 5:30 PM. If you can't get there right at 5:30 PM, get there when you can. Any and all help is appreciated.

Also if you are available earlier and want to put in some more time, there may be a couple people there earlier doing prep. Any mowers and weed trimmers appreciated... let us know in the comments.

Finally, bring some discs... afterward we'll play a few twilight/glow holes for those interested.

1) I've added a tentative layout to the UDisc app if you are interested. Just look for the "2018 Discraft Ace Race" under layout. It features the 9 regular holes, plus 9 safari holes. 6 baskets will be used twice, with 3 temporary baskets used. If you have a basket we can use for the event, let me know as I'm looking for a couple.

2) We are adding a prizes for the top woman and junior player at the event.

3) Reminder to sign up by August 23rd to guarantee your spot. $30. Easiest way is to do so through DiscGolfScene tournament page. Alternatively...

Just a note if you are heading to Roscoe Ewing to play that Guilford Blvd is closing from Berkshire Dr to E Smith Road today for construction of the bridge. It's supposed stay closed until the end of July/mid-August. If you typically get to Roscoe along Guilford Blvd from the north, you'll either need to take the detour or approach from the south.

On Thursday July 5th, Friends of the Memorial Pool are having a celebrity and pro disc golf event. We are looking for some players for this event. meet time is 6ish at the poolside pavilion. All seasoned disc golfers welcome, as we will be paired with people who have never played before. This is a great oppotunity to be ambassadors for our club and city (even if you don't live here, you will be an honorary club member for a night). growing the sport one small community event at a time.


Also!! the very next day, there will be a celebration at the pool and a learn to disc golf clinic for pool goers. any one have easy to throw putters or mids lying around?? Deep in the Game hits USA

Discmania Deep in the Game - the extremely popular series of instructional Disc Golf videos has been one of the most popular resources for all Disc Golfers looking to better their game since its inception in summer 2012. In just about 18 months the completely free videos have gathered over 500,000+ views on Discmania’s YouTube account. By the time these videos were published they set a new standard in production quality of any Disc Golf videos to date and still remain to be probably the most professional and informative set of Disc Golf technique tips available anywhere on the web.

The tour will stop in all of the northern states of United States, Simon Lizotte and myself, make our way throughout the US while taking part in the biggest events on the PDGA tour. Last summer Discmania and I organized a tour of instructional clinics in selected locations around Germany & Finland. These clinics proved to be very successful and most of the clinics sold out immediately. The tour was built around the Deep in the Game theme and provided in-depth instructions for those who were lucky enough to take part. Thanks to the success of the European tour and overwhelming demand from US players, Discmania is happy to announce the 2014 Deep in the Game US Summer Tour.

About the Clinics

Each clinic will last approximately 2+ hours, containing comprehensive instructions on how to better your game. Attendees will also get personal advice on how to work on their form and other aspects that they may need to see some process. A majority of the clinic is basic Disc Golf Instruction and is catered to Recreational to Amateur Players but I feel that everyone will learn a great deal of information from these clinics no matter their skill level. The maximum amount of attendees for each clinic is 30, so players will need to act fast to secure their spot! Payment for the clinic will take place in advance via PayPal through the Discmania Store. There will also be selected Deep in the Game Collectable Merchandise available for purchase at all of these events. Credit card payment will be available on location, but to play it safe we recommend bringing cash if you wish to make some purchases.

40 USD includes a Collectible Deep in the Game Tour Disc

All pre-payments must be made via Discmania Store at least one week before the clinic date but much earlier to secure a spot (Discmania Store: http://store.discmania.net/ditg-registration.htm). Price is for one participant & one clinic. Further payment info will be emailed to all registered attendees.

Location

This Discmania Deep in the Game Disc Golf Instructional Clinic will take place at Adam' Field at the Church of Stony Hill at: 2756 Stony Hill Rd, Medina, OH from 6-8 pm. They hope to see everyone out there that wants to improve their Disc Golf skills and help to gain distance to their throws!
