Saturday June 11 coming up is national Get Outdoors Day. We are going to have a work day on the course for that section of the event. Everyone that can lend a hand for the day would be greatly appreciated. We are planning on meeting at the top of the dam around 9:00 to get organized, and will be working out on the course for most of the day. Bring water bottles, bug spray, a lunch, favorite pair of work gloves if you have them, we should have some volunteer work gloves available if you want. The above is a link to the responsible sports grant page where Flat Rock is applying for a $2500 grant to run some youth programing.

To get the grant we need as many people to take the responsible sports quiz as either a Parent, Coach or both. Each time someone takes the quiz and applies it to the Flat Rock Disc Golf club we get closer to winning one of seven grants.
We are the only disc golf club applying and we only need to get in the top seven to win the grant.
As of today 10/26/2010 @ 8am if we get 100 more people to take the quiz that would put us into the top seven.
If 50 people took both quizes that would put us in the top seven.
It Takes About Ten Minutes
Liberty Mutual Insurance co is where the grant comes from but you DO Not have to accept/choose to receive information from them in order for your quiz to count.

Also the 2nd batch of Tully Tags are in...contact me (Titan) to obtain one...The cost is $25 and all proceeds go to improving the course...this batch we hope to earn enough from proceeds for a practice basket..Tags are Lifetime....we have a tag league on Sundays at 1pm or just have fun shooting it out with friends

Today I found that there has been some illegal cutting here at Tully Lake. I got a report this afternoon that there was a tree down at hole 15's basket. I went down to document it, noticed tire tracks in the lawn leading down the first hole and into 15's fairway, and realized that the tree had been cut with a chainsaw. It was the pine that was directly in front of the basket, one of the major course features on that hole. I am very dissapointed and upset that this has happened. This was an illegal activity, there is to be NO cutting of any type on Army Corps of Engineers land without approval. Besides that, there is no altering of the course in any way unless approved by me or my boss. Please help me to keep the course on the straight and narrow, if this continues then there will be major repercussions. If you have any info on this incident please contact me. Thank you everyone that is responsible while having fun out there.

Hello everyone. Just giving everybody an update on current volunteer stuff. We rocked the house during the month of April logging almost 70 hours total of volunteer effort. That is huge you guys, everyone deserves a thank you that was lending a hand getting the course ready for the Tully Tournament. May was a little slow but that was expected because I think everyone had to recover. Keep logging those hours and dont forget to report them to me! Thanks again everyone.

We will be holding works days to get the course into tip top shape.

We will be starting our first monthly tournament this saturday at Tully Lake. I hope that the water will be down enough so we can play a full round, we will have to deal with what we find. So, the format is tentatively going to be a PRO, AM, REC, and possibly a womens division. I believe the buy-in will be $10, all cash payouts determined by how many players in each division, with possibly some CTP's if there are some donations. We plan on having food available at later tournaments but for this first one its going to be bring your own lunch. I would like to do 2 rounds of singles, starting at 11:00. I will announce this again at tonights league, if anyone has any questions or suggestions/donations please feel free to contact me. Thanks you guys, hope to see you out there.

I hope that everyone is battling the cabin fever succesfully so far. We are setting up for some cool things happening this year. We are going to be doing monthly tournaments at tully this year starting on April 3 and continuing through the summer on the 1st saturday of every month. Titan and I are working on getting this going but we will need some help organizing and running the tourney. Also, there will be materials to finish the teepads this year so we need to set up a schedule to get those in as soon as the ground thaws, we will need volunteers to help put those in as well. Give me a post or a call if you have any questions or suggestions.

Howdy everyone. So we are starting a new year here and I wanted to keep everyone updated on current happenings. I have put in a request for a permit that will allow us to do a monthly tournament at Tully, possibly first or last sunday of the month type thing. I recieved a reply from Jeff at Tully saying that it was totally fine to have a running permit for the summer and that it was also possible to work off the permit fee that would be required for each tournament. Therefore, everyone needs to get and fill out a volunteer agreement form that I have and return it to me. From there anyone that does any sort of volunteer work up at Tully needs to keep track of their time invested and report it to me. Everything from picking up trash or tree limbs or shovelling teepads can be logged, even 15 minutes will help because we only need a total of 3 volunteer hours to waive the fee for each month. Good times with the free tournaments. On a side note I agree with Sean about the metal footgear that is scratching the teepads, please refrain from using the pads if you are wearing those items, but also I probably put a couple of those scratches on there myself when I was chipping the ice off them yesterday, tried to be gentle.... but that ice is certainly tenacious. Good luck in the snow all you die hards out there... Spotters Recommended :)

To all who use spikes or yak tracks... Adam and I were there yesterday playing a round and we noticed many scratches on the new brick tee pads. As a request, I would like to propose that anyone using said spikes or yak tracks or any other METAL traction devices please refrain from (do not) tee off from the cleared tee pads. Either tee from a snow covered area near the tee or remove the metal from the bottom of your shoe. Thank you for understanding...

Its hard work getting the leaves to the edge but its the right way
When picking up sticks put them neatly in the piles that are already there on course

Wed 11/11 will be a mass gathering of people from all over New England any one wanting to improve there skills and see how they stack up agaisnt guys from other courses come on out for some fun 10am

Sat 11/14 anyone who cashed at the tully tourney in May or any DAM tourney in 09 is qualified to play the DAM BIG 1 at buff all CASH payouts, Check NEFA.com for details or ask around about details

Sun 11/15 Team Tully-Rock the local team will be playing a NEFA TEAM CHALLEGE vs Team Tolland a course from CT, so just keep in mind the course will be busy with tourney play please respect the players involved so they are not distracted from casual play.
All are encouraged to come and root on the team as we go for 2 wins in a row in the first year of competition.
Course will still be open for public play just try to welcome the visiting team and be aware highly competitive play will be going on that day

Does the last post have anything to do with that ridiculous pile of wood chips scattered all over what used to be a nice flat green on hole 5. Maybe everyone should stop changing things at there leisure and play disc instead. Its starting to look ridiculous. Why dont we cut all of the trees down and play in a big ass field? Oooh now that sounds like fun.

Recent events have uncovered the need of a "Committee" to be formed. Hopefully, this will be the best way to continue our efforts towards club/course improvement.
It really isn't fair to have all the decisions be made by one person and to have that one person take all the blame from the few people in the group that may be unhappy with that final decision. Therefore, I suggest we submit names to be a part of an active committee headed by a president. This way issues of any kind can be brought to the attention of a committee member, who could bring this issue to the president, who could then bring this issue to the rest of the committee to vote and resolve the issue as a group.
If you have nominations for such a committee please submit a list of names, 10 or less, to myself or Bill Mehr and we will ask the most popular nominees to be apart of this.

We will be breaking ground for some new tee pads on Saturday 9/26 and volunteers would be greatly appreciated. There is plenty of work to be done so don't wory about "too many hands in the soup", if ... show more ›

There is plenty of work to be done so don't wory about "too many hands in the soup", if you show up ready to work there will be something to do. If you would like to do something specific contact Bill and let him know, otherwise just show up ready to go. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help, as always, course carma should be enough as far as compensation is concerned.

Also, planning for the Octoberfest party/tourny has begun. I am speculating Oct. 25 for this as long as it is acceptable for the majority. I am thinking about holding the BBQ at my house if there are no objections, this is open for disscusion. More news will come as details are worked out. There is a slight possibility that Tully Tags may be available by this time but we will see.
I will do my best to keep everyone informed of any new information as soon as it is definitive.

So the way its looking is that we are going to try and take out that huge rock in the middle of the current tee at 4 and place the new pad slightly behind where the line is now. So its not going to be set as far back as we had initially thought but instead what we are going to do is move the basket on 4 back about 20-30 ft, birdie alley is gonna get difficult boys

I hope this isn't too much to ask, but... Would everyone start taking a card with them during leagues? If you write your name and email on your card (along w/ your score) and turn them in at the end of the round we will be able to post scores and eventually fill up the list.

I think this will be the easiest way to get everyone in the leagues onto the lists to post scores. They will be able to create a profile after one round if they want.
