Just wanted to extend another huge THANK YOU to everyone for coming out and supporting the league this year. We played over 72 rounds of disc golf, gave back with significant contributions to course improvements, and of course, made new huckin' friendships to take with us as we play on.

Additional thanks to those who made it out and helped with the league finale on Sunday, even in the less-than-stellar weather conditions.

The Ace Race title went to Gary Adams, who edged out Martin Desch's Ace with an Ace of his own plus a Metal Hit to clinch the victory. Gary won an Innova Dominator and a $10 gift cert to Marshall Street.

The Random Dubz competition was also close, with the win going to the team of Greg Bianco and Johhny Flash for their -5, narrowly beating out multiple teams that finished -4. Greg and Flash each take home a dubz medal and $10 gift certs.

Medals and MS gift certificates were awarded to the top 3 finishers in the Gold division, top 10 in the Platinum, and some significant stats. For those not present to receive your awards, I'll hold on to them until we can get you the goods. I'm also holding the extra mini's for those that don't yet have a matching set.

Greg Bianco printed out and posted some of the stats on the info board by Hole #1 for any of those interested in checking it out.

$220 (and a 12pack of ShockTop) was given to Mark Ravenelle on behalf of the league members as our contribution to the Tee Pad Improvement effort. Of that total, $123 was the remainder in the 2013 league fund after all activities/awards, and an additional $97 came from the donation box at league finale event. Thanks again to everyone for chipping in!

Finally, if anyone is interested in helping out to plan and manage the league next year, drop me a note and we'll be sure to include you on the email threads when discussions fire up in the early spring.

I hope everyone keeps on coming out to meet up and play both Sunday morning and Tues afternoons. I know I'm looking forward to many more rounds this year, as I especially love these cooler months out on the courses. See you all soon!

Reminder to all that this was the last official Tuesday night round. Everyone is encouraged to keep on playing on Tuesdays as daylight and schedules allow, we just won't be tallying points, etc.

Also, reminder that this coming Sunday, 10/6, is the league finale. Please see my previous news post for all the details on the finale. We haven't had many people sign up for BBQ pot luck items yet in the chat room, so please make it known if you can bring something. Chips, sides, plates, utensils, condiments, tables, rain canopy (hope we won't need it), whatever you can bring, just chat it in the room so everyone knows.

Hey there Huckers,

Here are more details on the upcoming league finale this Sunday, 10/6 at 10am.

The plan of events is as follows:

10am - Ace Race
--------------------------------------------------------

We will have flags set up along the course to mark the custom tee locations to be used for the Ace Race.
Each person has two attempts at each basket using any two discs from their bag. Different discs can be used on different holes.
Score cards will be provided so that each group can keep track of how many Aces and Metal Hits each player gets during the round.
At the end of the round, the player with the most Aces wins. In the event of a tie for number of Aces, the player with more metal hits wins.

11:30am (ish) - League Awards/Prizes

After all groups complete the Ace Race, meet back at Hole #1 for the distribution of prizes and awards:
1. Award for Ace Race winner
2. Awards for top finishers in the Platinum and Gold divisions.
3. Awards for select other stats-based standouts

We've got extra bag tag minis! All league members who attend will get another mini to take home. Platinum members will receive a Gold mini, and Gold members will receive a Platinum mini so everyone has a nice matching set.

12pm (ish) - Potluck BBQ

After the awards, it's time to refuel and kick back for a bit with a pot luck BBQ.
I'm volunteering to bring burgers and burger buns. Greg Bianco mentioned he will bring hot dogs and buns.
Mat Ladroga said he could bring his full size grill. Two grills are better than one for cooking speed (and backup plan) if anyone else wants to volunteer a second grill.

I've started a chat room discussion at the following link where people can coordinate and chime in they would like to contribute something to the BBQ event.
I'm thinking we could use a couple tables if people have portable ones they can bring. Paper plates, forks, napkins, chips, desserts, or your favorite side dish would be a great additions as well.

We will have a donation bucket available during the BBQ for anyone that wants to personally contribute to the recent tee pad improvements at the course. For those who have not seen the course this week, you'll notice that there are now 17 tee pads completed with rubber mats. Thanks to everyone who has contributed their time, energy, and money to make this happen.
The majority of this was made possible by Mark Ravenelle, who has fronted the funds necessary to purchase the 18 rubber pads. A portion of the league fund that is allocated for course improvements will be going to Mark to help reimburse some of the costs for the pads and materials. This amount does not even cover half of the cost, however, so any further donations during finale day will be greatly appreciated.

To level the playing field, players will be grouped into two skill level buckets based on their average round score for the year. Teams will be formed by randomly picking one name from each bucket. Prizes will awarded to the team that wins the final doubles match.
There was discussion on perhaps making this a "two-disc" doubles challenge, since people seemed to enjoy the last two-disc singles challenge we did earlier in the year. We will take a vote prior to the doubles team selection to see what everyone would rather do, two-disc or regular doubles, majority wins.

Hey Chuckers, Another push to get rubber on the T's will be held On Saturday the 28th starting at 8:45. Tomorrow's (Fri 20th) effort is being cancelled.

If we can get about 10 helping hands we could easily get 6 pads in before 1:00 - a good mornings work. That would make 2/3 of the holes complete!

Thanks to Bob, Mark (the founder of the feast) Matt, Ryan, Marty, Ken & Jack for helping on the last effort, but we need more hands this time. Do you part and come out and put in a few hours for the course.

We will do a quick setup of the course at 7:15. Try to get there for setup so you have time to glow your discs as well as helping to glow up the joint! There will be tape and glow bracelets to put on discs you want to glow. Dollar Store has lots of glow stuff for a buck. Clear packing tape will make it stick best to the underside of your disc.

If the turn out is good we will do a disc give-away for one CTP and a cash pot for another - holes 12 & 17 are the likely CTP's.

We will try and make official start at 7:45. It would be good if each group had a flash light and some packing tape.

Hey fellow chuckers,
I'm organizing a glow round for the 24th. Planning on a CTP pot on hole 17 or 11. Thinking of an ace buy-in to win a couple of special discs - Innova Christmas disc (thanks Marty) and one other donated disc. Money from the ace pot will go to the course improvement fund and half to the fund from CTP. It would be $2 for CTP and $3 for ace, but no need to buy-in if you just want to come and throw some glowing discs into the woods instead! Will be looking for a few hands to help get the course glowing, so let me know if you can help out. Hope to see you all out there dodging bats and heaving your favorite glowing discs deep into the woods!

May 26th - This Sunday.

After the singles round on Sunday we will be holding the 2 Disc Challenge. Instead of doubles following the normal singles round we will be challenging those that wish to enter to make their way around the course with only two discs. These can be any two regulation discs you like.

So, if you are one of those people who has said, "I could play this course with my putter", it is time to prove it! It should be pretty challenging and very interesting to see what the winning score will be.

The buy-in will be $5.
Pay out for 1st, 2nd and third place.

1st takes 50%,
2nd 20%
3rd 5%
25% goes to league fund.

We are organizing a Tee Pad Improvement Work Session this coming Sunday 4/28 @ 8:30am, right before the normal Sunday league start.

We will initially target some of the most needy tee boxes, tackling some root removal and dirt leveling activities among other things. Those interested in lending a hand are encouraged to bring some work gloves and any tools they have that may be of assistance, such as metal rakes, hoes, shovels, loppers, etc.

Every helping hand is much appreciated. See you guys (and gal) Sunday!
