This Sunday we are heading out to Holly Recreational area to play the ponderous course that is HollyWoods. We are also going to start our Winter Points series, the idea is to award first, second and third with points (1st = 3 points, 2nd = 2 points and 3rd = 1 point) the rest of the crowd will have to try again next week to gain their points. That way there is something to shoot for week to week (other than the growing ace pool). This will be a trail run to see if this will continue for the following seasons.
Tee off will be as close to 10:00 am as possible so I look forward to seeing all you scurvy dogs then.

This is our first Sunday round of the month, and as such we are going on a raiding parrrrty. We chose to bring the CHA! out to our friends of Ypsi Dubs who just so happen to be playing out at one of our favorite private courses BRATS!!.
They run a Cash game and any questions on their game can be answered by the council or by asking their league admins. If you plan on attending please add your self to the game on the home page here and also send your info to one of the ypsi dubs admins so they can add you to the league prior to Sunday.

This Friday will be our last Friday Night happy hour for the year and the people have chosen Chuck D to host our final night. We are chasing the sun so plan on playing a tad faster than usual and maybe smaller groups to ensure we have enough light to play.
We in the council would like to thank all those whom have come out and shared a laugh with us over the summer months. We have had some outstanding times and got to play alongside of some of Michigan’s finest player on some of the best courses. A big shout out to the Private course owners who opened their lands for us to pillage and plunder.
We are going to be making some minor “Tweaks” starting this winter to give a little more CHA to our regular program; this will include point’s series where we will be awarding 1st, 2nd and 3rd places points with possible multipliers for playing in blizzards, freezing temps and other absurd conditions.

This week we are finally headed out the buggy madness that is Black Locust and take the pirate stab at some mighty fine DG. I would expect to play in smaller than normal groups to try and beat out the sun, and it might be a good idea to bring some glow’s or led’s just in case we get caught with the lights out. Tee off will be as close to 5:30 as I can get, as I’m coming in from downtown A2. Will be playing last man rules after tee off so if you are running late holler out a CHA and find a group to join or swagger around with.

The switch to Sundays is drawing near, but we have yet to establish a set date for the change. Might think about doing the same as last year and play our last Friday at Da Mer closing the season out with a round of glowies from the shorts. But s always we look to the voters to guide us.

Only the truly divine could navigate through the winding roads and rest their weary bones amongst the wildlife that calls Mill Creek home. To look around and find one’s self resting in the majestic rolling hills of delight and outstanding urban planning.. Angels wept of the creation of this course. It is our duty to set sail to the shores of Brown and take our chance at finding some extra doubloons to line our pockets.

This is our First Friday cash game so brings the monies and also your ‘A’ Game. Tarzan and maybe some dirrrtys will be voted on as optional side games.
While we enjoy our normal home courses keep in mind and heart those who are venturing north to represent our area leagues in the Michigan State Championships. We know that they are going to put on a great show and represent us the best they can.

This week we are hoisting anchor and setting sail out the Redford to play the magically delicious course that is Lola. Nestled in the famous creek bed we will find ourselves facing a mixture of long and short holes that will rival flip city in grandeur.. Who am I kidding, I’ve never played here and all the reviews point to this being a good place for the pirates to run some shenanigans and our normal rounds of Yeah me eff you.
Ace Pool, Tarzan and dirrrrty shall undoubtedly be played and I’m sure we will find some other games of chance and maybe even play some safari (mostly due to unmarked tees)

We are setting sail to the glory that is Cass Benton, for all those who have never been out to Cass you are in for a treat. This course boasts the most scenic views of Northville, Virtually no casuals, and a well-kept course that should be the standard for all tree maintenance and care. A stroll through the woods out here is like playing the Masters in Augusta only in Michigan and will undoubtedly leave you asking “Why”.
As usual we will have the side games of chance for all those willing; Ace Pool has breached the $200 mark and is looking to be taken down a peg by someone. I look forward to the next coming weeks for the death of the “skeeters” and am hoping that we can play Lola, Founders, and maybe even Freedom before the night sky falls faster than we can play.

We are going to test the conditions out there and hope that the Bugs are still on a vacation or just flat out dead from the heat wave that we just went through. Ace Pool, Dirty, and an epic game of Tarzan (.25) await us as I’m sure we are going to see a lot of peoples come out and play this week.

For those who didn't catch some of the gibber gabber this week this is our double points week with the Co-op point series. It's also Beer fest so we called it Lake Shore ahead of time to make sure that we would be nice and close for folks that want to enjoy the best of both worlds. As States is quickly approaching we will be having our last Berth allocation Friday for a $5 buy in. So bring out the CHAAA, and your A game this week. We'll be set to meet up by 5:30 and Tee by six pm. $5 Berth game is a optional side game for those who favor the games of chance.

Well it's cause we played the most interesting game of WOLF ever with 8 players and a whole lot of sillyness. Just to give prop to the players for doing what they did best the break down of points went as so

Also note that this Sunday is the “22nd No Foolin” out at Hudson Mills, All those with the time and the money please try you best to go out and support the areas longest running league as the always put on a great event. It’s been a long time coming but the day is here, we are heading north raid the players of Club Kensington and spread a little Pirate CHA!!! They have many side games and their ace pool sits at $415 ($205 pay out). We can meet up to car pool to take the sting out of the gate fee but as it comes to their pay to play I have no relief. Please take to time to both add yourself to the game on the “Discgolfscene” home page and shoot Jeff Kaluk your information prior to playing on Sunday so they can add you to the league.
As I understand it they play 18 holes in the winter time and usually draw out about 40-50 people. We will be bringing our usual DFL prize and maybe even some Frosty Brew to help keep warm during the round.

Yes you read right! We are playing Ypsilanti's own Waterworks in 6"+ snow. Bring quarters because we WILL be playing Quarter Sack! All trees hit will cost a quarter, chance of winning the bag of quarters at the 9th hole. Ray or Miah will have new discs available for sale, as well as more info on what it will take to with this year's births!

As many of you know Corner Brew is pretty close to the course. After game libations will be available here. The lucky Quarter Sack owner could spend his or her earnings here, or just do laundry!

This will be the first raid in a long time to go a visit our fellow frozen throwers. Their side games usually total in the area of $10 but I have spoken with them in the past and they assure there is still a way the the Pirates can CHA for free’z so worry not ye broken and busted dogs… Fun times are always free. This Sunday the pirates of 24 Chains will be setting sail towards Cass Benton and playing there round amongst the fallen trees and scurvy natives. Be aware that the Admiral will not be able to make this week’s round so Miah and Ray shall be running and gunning the show.
I would expect a fun and cold round with a couple ace runs and lots of “holy crap that tree almost hit us”.

To All 24 Chains Members

There has been a fair share of on wall conversations, and person emails between several members, and staff as of late. I'm taking just a short amount of your time to explain just a few simple things.

First and foremost 24 Chains has always been, and will strive as hard as possible to keep our league free, and for the players first. There will at times be cost that are outside of our control such as park cost, and pay to play cost. We understand that this will play a roll in each person’s choice weather they play or not that week. We will never look down on anyone who chooses not to play weather it is for the cost, the drive, or even the weather (but we reserve the right to heckle you if you say it's too cold for you).

Second seems to be the topic of concern as of late. 24 Chains stands alone in our design of play. No other league has been successful in doing what we do with the player having a say in the course, the game, the time, the cost, and other aspects of format that may occur. However while we do encourage this participation to all members. Those same members need to be aware that the final decision falls to the three heads of 24 Chains. Gabe Dotson the founder and President of 24 Chains. Jeremiah Swain Co-founder, and Vice President. Raymond Karl Head Chair. The actions taken by 24 Chains are theirs to decide for it is our responsibility to help represent 24 Chains to the other leagues. We will always try to let our personal influence be the last, or at least the least of the deciding vote on games. However there will be few times when we will have to decide what we feel is best for the group as a whole when there is conflict of interest. We have always held being respectful to the players in high regard cause without each one of you this could have never become what it is today.

The Third idea I would like to share deals with our representation at, and with other leagues. We always promote our players to be members of other leagues for we are all part of the same (very small) subculture. We are known for be a fun bunch, and a bit rowdy. However our format allows us to play with more conservative leagues who invite us to play. When ever another club has already established themselves as a weekly at a park at a certain time we will respect that club. If they are open to us joining them, and the vote decided to join them we will play by their design. This point is not negotiable. We enjoy being part of someone else’s game, and look forward to being invited back. With that in mind we will always show them the respect they show us with the invite by not disrupting their play style. This may mean fees that we do not normally carry. We will try to make their cost known to you before the round is decided so you can choose weather or not to attend.

Finally to help deal with some of the current and I'm sure future conflicts. Votes for the upcoming week’s game should be posted by noon on Tuesday with any adjustments a player would like to make such as start time, possible side games, and even offering up the idea for a friendly cash round. This way we all have time to make our voice be heard about how we feel on each topic before the Thursday final vote comes in. We will still take in to consideration all comments made after noon Tuesday, but understand that it is in the interest of all players that we do make this system more functional as we continue to grown

For the few of you who don't know 24 Chains started by the mear need for two roaming pirates needing to have somewhere to call home. At that time in winter of our fourfathers we called that place Hudson Mills. It was the cold, and snow that first brought the first tell tale battle cry of 24 Chains "NO whimps, NO whiner". Well this is it, our last Friday Happy Hour game for now, We had a good run of games and met some of the finest players and degenerate pirates the side of the state has to offer.. Now let’s see what you guys got in the cold. After this Friday we will be switching to out winter church schedule of Sundays at 9-10am. Time and location will be put to a vote as always. We will also take on our random raids of the others in the area as we did last year, to help warm up the others with fresh and steaming piles of CHA!!!.
So as this is our last Friday we are playing the course we started our season with to try and end on a good note. Just in case anyone is lost about last Friday's Happy Hour @ Rolling Hills. Steve-O, K.C., and myself all made it on time for the regular round. Some other got tied up in traffic. So being the good sports we were, and having just a few more pints of blood to give to the masquitos we played the front 9 a second go to help the late bloomers get in their full round. So you'll see two sets of scores for us. Sad to say they do not have a "front 9" layout so I used the short round instead. Figured we played the holes we should get the credit for them so I kept track. Bravo gents on golf well played.

hello everyone
We are having a work day this saturday starting at 8AM at the group camp course (part of hudson mills metropark). we will be looking for the metal sleeves that were put in the ground in 2000 for worlds ran by A3. They are all buried or grown over. So we have at least 1 of the original course designed maybe both coming out to help us find them. We have found a metal detector to use, more would be fantastic. We need people with shovels to dig for the sleeves once found.
We need bodies.
We need people with shovels.
Some stakes to mark the sleeves once found.
If anybody has a GPS unit to mark the coordinates of the sleeves when found would be a huge help.
Let me know if you can make it even if not at 8AM later is fine to. Gunars (1 of the original course designers) is coming but has to leave by noon. The rest of us can continue to work if not finished until done or time runs out.
This course is located to the north of Hudson mills metropark, right across the street from the park entrance. Entrance is north on huron river dr about .5 miles on the left.
Let me know if you can, might or will try and make it out please.

What a great game! On my home course up north in Midland's Chippewa Banks. It turned out to be a beautiful day of disc golf with old friends and new friends all on a course I haven't played since I moved downstate. Thank you Craig Prime for getting the word out. Congratulations Kevin Suave and Dave Hamilton for taking the win and taking home 10 dollar gift certificates to Ypsilanti's Lakeshore Throw Shop, and the cash prize of 12 dollars. Second Place to Kei, and Craig Prime, with a win of custom dyed Crystal and FLX discs. And of course no one is a loser in the 24 Chains, especially with the all mighty DFL. Guy Gill and Eric Strauser took home two LED Light up Mini and Putters courtesy of The Throwshop in Ypsilanti. Thank you to all who came. It was a lot of fun to see you all again.

Our friends and Brother pirates at Local 101 are hosting a event this sat and I think it would be great if any of our Drunken Pirate selfs had the time and money to go that they would.
As I understand it's not only a Cali-Throw event but also a Chili cook off. Ray is attending as well as some of our West Coast friends(Wade). I cannot attend due to family. Any question please ask and I will answer the best I can.

There is a tourney going on at rolling hills that alot of people are opting to goto other then play leagues. We can still use this and disc golf scene to make a game for those that are in town but I'm not planning a round as of yet.

This week we are going on a raiding party and plundering Ypsi Dubs at Rolling Hills. As far as I know there is a $6 buy in and $2 optional ace pool. Might try to run 2 ace pools ours and theres just to make it a really huge pot for the day.
Their page says game is on at 10am, they also have CTP's and side games (CTP for a growler of beer) and you know we're going to have some sorta side game going on.

I had a talk with miah last night about this weeks game and here is what we came out with. This week we will goto lakeshore and have at it. Next week we will goto Independence Lake and play which ever course that the group chooses.
Having said that..,. I've made mention a couple times about the "Fall Back" time change. I would like to get the game going at 10. that way we can try and fit in 24 holes and maybe even the 4 new holes they have put in out there.

To all those who came out, Thank you! I had a great time. We couldn't have had a better day to play. 10am tee time proved well. We all met up to the sounds of someone playing french horn in the park. Definitely made for a good soundtrack to our just for fun game. Brian from Kzoo (+5) ended up taking the win followed by a newcomer,Tim (+10) who tied with yours truly (+10)["Yeah I know!"]). Cassidy (+13) next, then newcomer Joe(+14), then CJ (+22) finishing off.

After the game we drove to a secluded park for the BBQ. We ended up sharing the site with a little league baseball team who we all taught to play disc golf. All in all a great day! Thanks guys!!! CHAAAAAA!!!
