Thanks for the suggestion, Tony. While there is no PDGA rule that would forbid this, cutting the lunch break on such short notice is likely to negatively impact many competitors, especially those with longer commutes who have been planning around the customary hour break.

I understand the custom of a break but giving the circumstances of inclement weather, we as players should not only be prepared for the weather but in charge of feeding ourselves on the course. I believe players would much rather get the rounds in than take a lunch break.

All that needs to be completed is 1 round for the tournament to be official. Considering the inclement weather won't likely be to Redan until lunch/after lunch. He may even need to send people home before the second round begins. As a TD myself, and a player in this tournament, I think Adam is doing the right thing by not playing right through lunch and keeping a watchful eye on the weather. There a quite a few players that also NEED that hour break for rest in between rounds. There are more MA50, MA60 & MA70 players than any other group of players that might need to use that time. I appreciate and share your concern. We are monitoring a number of meteorological sources in regard to the possibility of severe weather on Friday, and are seeing a mixed bag of potential scenarios. Some are suggesting that the worst weather may hold off until the early afternoon while other sources have suggested that the inclement weather may be scattered and spotty. While we can’t bank on the best outlook, there is some hope to be had in the differing forecasts. As of now, (Noon-ish on Wednesday the 10th), there is no plan to move the tournament to another date. That being said, this situation is being monitored thoroughly, and there is certainly the possibility of an abbreviated tournament should the weather dictate a non-temporary stoppage of play. The registration and refund window will close at 8pm on Wednesday the 10th should you decide not to play based on the forecast. The safety of our competitors is of the utmost importance and we will be outlining our inclement weather strategy in the forthcoming caddie book and during our players’ meeting.

Hello Marta! Both are true. The amateur ladies will be playing the course as a par 57 while all other divisions will be playing the course as a par 54. All the same tees and baskets, but the FA divisions will have holes 4, 13, 15, and 17 play as par 4.
