We're wrapping up the year but we have a lot of fun still in store for the next 2 weeks. Please read through the bullet points for a rundown.

Hi-Lo details:
- Hi-Lo is tonight (8/23). Check-in before 5:10pm, players meeting at 5:15pm, tee @ 5:30pm.
- We'll have CTPs/LPs on EVERY hole!
- 50% cash payout to the top teams in each division. Half of you will get paid!
- We'll play 24 holes in the yellow pins.

Awards Party details:
- 8/30/16 @ Saugatuck Brewing Co. Gather at 6pm, Awards at 7pm, Debauchery from 8pm to 9pm.
- Basket raffle, bring cash!
- Tip your servers well, dine and drink to support our sponsor!

Greetings. Tomorrow marks our last divisional tournament of the year. We will be playing 24 holes in the black pin locations utilizing a shotgun start. Given the fact that this is a tournament, we will be using PDGA tournament rules which includes a 2 stroke penalty for wrong scores.

Check-in at hole #1: 4:30 to 5:15pm (you must check in!)
Players Meeting: 5:30pm
TeeOff: shortly after the players meeting

If you can't make it Tuesday, please let one of the committee members know.

These divisions will be used for both Yellow and Black Divisionals. If you would like to move up a division to avoid bagger taunts, post here.

Greetings. Next Tuesday marks our first divisional tournament of the year. We will be playing 24 holes in the yellow pin locations utilizing a shotgun start. Given the fact that this is a tournament, we will be using PDGA tournament rules which includes a 2 stroke penalty for wrong scores.

6 MI State Finals Berths will be awarded to the top 2 scores in divisions 1, 2, and 3&4(combined).

We will be handing out 60 discs/minis with 20 to 30 winners depending on CTP winners!

Check-in at hole #1: 4:30 to 5:15pm (you must check in!)
Players Meeting: 5:30pm
TeeOff: shortly after the players meeting

If you can't make it Tuesday, please let one of the committee members know.

These divisions will be used for both Yellow and Black Divisionals.

Record breaking night!
There were only 5 players under par in week 7 with only 1 player way under par. Evan Buit claims several records on the night but becomes the first person to achieve the Hot Round, Best Adjusted Score, and Naughty honors in the same week! But due to wording within the rules, he along with Dennis, Ken, and Rob won’t be docked points for not turning in their scorecard. Not only did the night belong to Evan, Jory Koopman added his name to the long list of aces this year by scoring a 1 on hole 11. Nice work!

Week #5 featured a mixed bag of scores and results with the league collectively shooting 1 and a half throws more than last week. I guess the hangover was inevitable after week 4’s scorching hot scores. Standouts on the night were Leah Cole for throwing the best adjusted score award with a 44 (60) and Jeff Kuehle for taking the hot round with a 49. Congratulations to you both! The selfish award for week 5 goes to Ryan Givens for nabbing 3 CTPs on the night. Save some for everyone else!

I've been told that it's time for a poem, so here goes:

Week 2 has come and gone,
Rain and wind headlined the day.
A historic first for SADGC,
We already have 2 aces in May!

Congratulations to Rob and Dan,
Hole 7 and 10 were skip aces.
Their 1’s on the scorecard,
Will certainly help them in scoring races.

There were 2 hot rounds on the night,
Jeff Kuehle and Rob Buit nice job blokes!
They each finished with 50 throws,
Besting 65 other folks.

And we’re off…Week 1 featured our best weather of the year but the wind was definitely a factor. 91 players (86 members) combined to throw 5,739 shots. Accounting for the least of those throws were Rob Buit, Eric Crandle, and Jeff England as they start the year with Hot Round honors by posting 51s. Nice work gentlemen! While those are ok Hot Round scores, the night belonged to Ken Climo…oops, I mean…Ken DeBoer as he posted a smoking hot Adjusted Score of 44 (57) narrowly beating out Sean Holton and Zach Driesenga by 0.2 throws a piece! Let’s hope the Adjusted Score curse doesn’t get Ken in week 2.

So Dr J was at it again adding to the record books with back to back Hot Round and Best Adjusted scores for the first time ever! This week, he did it on the yellow pins to the tune of a 47 adjusted to 44! Nice work JRDZ!! Honorable mention to Aaron Kleinheksel for his 45 (59) just a half a throw away from Jason. Next week, we'll finally be able to award some prizes and points.

League Notes:
- We're live next week! The first official league round of 2016 which will feature not 1, not 2, but 14 CTPs!
- Super naughty week! The card of Dirk Kuipers, Jesse Pentecost, Kurt Sutherland, and Bob Blanton shot smoking hot rounds of 8, 17, 15, and 9!!!! On second thought, I guess they forgot to add up their scores and just posted their over/under. Naughty naughty! Steve Warren and Ricky Bodman also posted some incorrect scores. Attention 2016 League Members
SADGC is pleased to announce that our league will be PDGA sanctioned this year. This means that league members will have the option to receive PDGA ratings and points for league rounds during the course of the season. As a result of the PDGA fees associated with offering a sanctioned league, we are asking interested members to pay a flat fee of $15. By paying this fee, PDGA members will receive an official rating from each league round attended that will be included in that player’s total average rating. PDGA members will also receive PDGA points, which is the primary criterion for earning an invitation to World Championship events. You do not have to be a PDGA member to take advantage of this opportunity. Non-PDGA members who pay the $15 will be able to view their unofficial ratings online throughout the duration of the league; however, these ratings will disappear following the completion of the league if a PDGA membership is not acquired.

League members who are interested in this option can pay any of the SADGC Committe members (Ben Barton, Rob Buit, Brian Fitz, Dan Kuipers, Travis Prueter, Todd Tracy, Zach Vaughn). The $15 member fee will cover the entire 16 week season, but scores will not start being reported to the PDGA until payment is received. Members may choose this option at any point during the course of the season, but the same $15 rate will apply regardless of when the member pays.

Winning both the Hot Round and Best Adjusted Score is a rare feat. It's so rare that it has only happened 5 times in 48 weeks since its inception in 2014. Jason Rodriguez was the man of the night as he becomes the only player to win the Hot Round (53) and Best Adjusted Score (50) more than once! Too bad it's preseason as you won't be collecting prizes for your accomplishment. Though I would imagine you could nab a hug from some of the committee members.

General OB rules per the Official Rules of Disc Golf (edited for SADGC)

A. A disc is out-of-bounds if its position is clearly and completely surrounded by an out-of-bounds area.
B. The out-of-bounds line is part of the out-of-bounds area.
C. A disc that cannot be found is considered to be out-of bounds if there is reasonable evidence that the disc came to rest within an out-of-bounds area. In the absence of such evidence, the disc is considered lost and play proceeds according to rule 804.05. (Lost disc - Re-throw from previous lie with a penalty)
D. A player whose disc is out-of-bounds shall receive one penalty throw. The player may elect to play the next throw from:
1. The previous lie; or,
2. A lie that is up to one meter away from and perpendicular to the point where the disc last crossed into out-of-bounds, even if the direction takes the lie closer to the target; or,
3. Within the designated drop zone, if provided.
E. If the thrower moves the disc before a determination regarding its out-of-bounds status has been made, the disc shall be considered out-of-bounds.

Mandatory rules per the Official Rules of Disc Golf (edited for SADGC)

• A mandatory restricts the path the disc may take to the target. A disc must pass the correct side of the mandatory before the hole is completed. A disc has passed the mandatory once it establishes a position beyond the mandatory line.
• A throw has missed the mandatory if it passes the incorrect side of the mandatory from the direction of the tee, and establishes a position completely beyond the mandatory line.
• A throw that has missed the mandatory results in a one-throw penalty.
• Missed mandatory shall play from the previous lie.
• If, after a mandatory has been passed, a subsequent throw crosses the mandatory line on the correct side but in the reverse direction, the mandatory has no longer been passed. The player must still pass the mandatory on the correct side. A line connecting the lies for the hole must pass to the correct sides of all mandatories for the hole.

2016 SADGC Out of Bounds Rules

General rules and special cases

A. No 2-meter rule.
B. Missed Mandos must re-tee with a penalty stroke (holes 7,8,16).
C. Holes 7 and 8 – You have missed the Mando if your disc passes to the left of and beyond the vertical plane of the Mando sign. Discs stopping short of the Mando do not incur a penalty and may be played per basic rules of play.
D. Hole 14 – The cactus circles are to be treated as casual relief. Relief may be taken outside of the cactus, no closer to the pin and on the line of play.
E. Hole 15 – The log pile is out of play and considered casual relief. Discs that come to rest within the log pile outline must proceed to the drop zone – no penalty.
F. Hole 16 – Your disc must come to rest beyond the road to be considered in bounds and past the ‘Mando’.
G. All OB is in play regardless of the hole being played

I think the cold days are finally behind us, hopefully last night was the last sub 50's temperature round of the year! Just a reminder, we will be playing black pins again next week with a return to yellow for the last preseason week on April 26th.

The curse of the reigning best adjusted score winner was hard at work last night eating away at Dirk Kuipers to the tune of a 17 throw adjusted score swing! A 44 (54) last week turned into a 61 (69) this week...good thing it is preseason. We'll see how Christian Newton handles it as he had this week's best adjusted score with a 50 (69), nice shooting! Travis Prueter and Craig Pluger also struggled as they followed up their hot rounds from last week (53) with cold rounds this week (62). In the complete opposite direction, Zachary Vaughn shot six strokes better on the tougher black pin layout this week to take home the hot round honors with a 52.

League Notes:
- Craig Pluger 62 (61) and Mike Miedema 64 (67) were naughty this week posting wrong scores.
- Pay no attention to the scorecard par with adding up your scores. Simply take the over/under from 3 on each hole and add it to 54.
- Paper copies of scorecards are the preferred method for scores. Digital copies are only accepted in rare cases.
- Be sure to put first and last names on scorecards.
- Tracking OBs - Stephen "Numbers" Nottingham would prefer if you track all OBs by circling your score for the hole when you go OB or miss a mando. If you go OB more than once, put a double, triple, or quadruple circle please. This will ensure accurate statistics for all league members.

Hopefully yesterday was the coldest day that we will see this season at Shore Acres. At least it was sunny with not a whole lot of wind...it could have been worse.

The scores seemed to have reflected the colder temps as the Hot Round for the night was a 53 which was shot by Craig "ace" Pluger and Travis Prueter. Apparently you needed a P and a U in your last name to have shot well. Most impressive on the night was Dirk Kuipers', fresh off a birthday, adjusted score of 44 (54). Nice work gentlemen!

A couple of reminders:
- We will be playing the black pins for preseason weeks #2 and #3 with a return to yellow in preseason #4.
- Don't be naughty like Elvis Hadzalic who added his score wrong or else it will cost you come the regular season.
- Points will start being awarded 5/3.
- No cash for preseason aces and no awards for preseason achievements.

We currently have 89 members with plenty of room for new people (31 spots to be exact). If you know of someone who is interesting in joining, let them know that they can show up at Shore Acres between 4pm and 5:30pm on any Tuesday night in April and sign up with one of the committee members stationed near hole #1's teepad. Additional league spots will be given on a first come first served basis.
