I just wanted to update everyone and remind them that the standings on disc golf scene are basically the total points earned to date up until right now, but each weeks scores get added and it figures out your next lowest point total to not include. I was very generous in this league to allow people a chance to compete even while missing up to 5 weeks of the 17. I figured we might miss out on some weeks because of weather but you all proved that you wanted to play in just about everything. As disc golf scene gets updated over the final 4 weeks you may see the points race tighten up because of people dropping their worst weeks. I have a spreadsheet that can help figure out exactly where you are at each week but it takes a lot of math to figure it all out and post it. If you are curious what your lowest point totals are you can get that from the past weeks scores, or ask me where you stand.

I don't think I have ever felt so much wind in the woods, and I thought it would get better once we hit #4. I was wrong.

Here are the updated handicaps for next week, where the current forecast says 22 degrees. It will be like Florida!

Well it looks like Tim Nelson is on a hot streak. He not only had his second career ace in league in 3 weeks after a few years of no aces but he also set the new record low score after handicap of 46 (-8).

It looks like I am quickly losing my lead and depending on attendance next week I might be back a few spots.

Greg Weber and Dustin Bocek have a couple scorecards in case they are running behind the next two weeks while I am gone. I just ask that Greg or Dustin update Nick Williams on when they will be arriving so they can better pair up groups. You can always send me a message and I can tryt o relay it but it would be best if you just communicate together. THEN I will just need someone to collect the cards, photograph them so that they are legible and I can calculate the scores, edit them, put them on Disc Golf Scene and then re-calculate the handicaps for the upcoming week. I will keep track of how much money each individual owes or is owed based upon performance and we will settle up when I return the week of February 26th.

See you guys in a few weeks . . . I hope I don't lose all 13 points I am currently ahead of Dustin in the standings!

I will be there for one more week of league, since I will be leaving early Thursday morning for my road-trip. I will let you guys play the two weeks (February 12th and 19th) I am gone and we can settle up on who owes who what after I return to league the week of February 26th. I will give someone scorecards who intends to play all those two weeks so that you have a way to keep track of scores. If someone can email me or text me a photo of the scorecards I can update the standings, payouts, and calculate scores and handicaps for the following week.

I would nominate Nick since he has been the most regular attendee or Greg Weber . . . but Greg has had to come late a handful of times and I would hate to make people wait around to get started each night.

I went out for a round to shovel, salt, and play a round before league. I met up with a couple guys who will be joining in some league fun again in spring. We got to the 8th hole and Dominic decided he would shovel off that tee. He finished shovelling and I stepped up, threw my flick and parked the hole. I walked off the tee and started coughing. That's not surprising as I have probably eaten a couple hundred cough drops in the last week with the cold I have had. I coughed so hard and for long enough that I actually puked. I couldn't continue on for fear I would go through another coughing fit and I am sure the shovelling and salting didn't help the situation so Dominick Salas and Nic Howard . . . thank you for continuing on with the teepads despite not even playing in the league.

I just went to my car and relaxed eating more cough drops hoping the coughing wouldn't return. . . and it didn't . . . at least not to that degree so I decided I would still play in league.

Another first happened in my group during league . . . and it happened on Hole #8 also . . . Tim Nelson stepped up and throw a slight anhyzer that turned right and then straightened out and went into the basket . . . that was Tim's first ace in 3 years of playing. We all celebrated and I told him that aces will just start to drop like flys now.

Another first on the night was an adjusted score that was below 50 . . . Tim shot a (-2) but his (-3) handicap took him to a (-5) 49. That is the first adjusted score below 50.

Here are the adjusted handicaps for week #10. I should be there this week before heading out of town, but do not want my absence to stop this league so you guys can continue to keep coming on Wednesdays and playing your round at 6:00 PM or if there are a couple people who run late, you can start later or just let them play their rounds after you. I will simply need one person to report all scores and aces to me so I can record the scores while I am on the road.

Lots of fluctuations are happening now that we have moved out of the original 5 round I used to start your handicaps. Keep in mind if youy have been playing below your handicap, you are bound to start an upswing and get more points and paid out some times too, but if you were playing above your handicap, you are likely to see a downturn in your weekly placement and payouts might be tougher to come by. I wish i could have played last night (it has been too long since I have thrown), but I would have ended up with Pnuemonia and been accussed of sandbagging just to get my handicap down! In the end we are probabyl at the toughest time of winter to play so let's hope to see everyone's scores improving. I am feeling better today so I should be ready to play next week, let's see how I stand up to the handicap system before I head out of town for a few weeks.

There were some fluctuations in handicaps this past week of up to 2 throws. That will be interesting to see outlasts the others in a season long battle . . . will it be the volatile player who has really good and really bad rounds or will it be the consistent player who is always right around their handicap?

Either way tonight looks to be decent. I will be trying to get there by 4 so I can make a pass through the course with a shovel and some salt to ensure good tees for tonight.

Sorry for my slacking . . . I did not even realize I hadn't written a recap of either of the first two weeks of this league . . . with this being so ground-breaking being handicapped I better pay more attention and mention things as they happen!

The first two weeks saw only a couple of rounds under "Par" (after handicap) and the rest above "Par". This week . . . noone "beat" their handicap and quite a few people were well above their "averages". It was a rough week with the single digit temperatures, 3-4 inches of snow causing at least 2 lost discs, , the unfamiliarity with the temporary winter holes, and the slippery rubber teepads on those holes.

It will definitely be interesting to see how the handicap league turns out . . . I tried to do my best to come up with a good handicap system and I feel as though throughout an entire season things will level off between players. While someone might start the league with a "generous" handicap, others might find it difficult to stand up to their handicap for one reason or another. i will be sure to analyze the results of this league thoroughly to make sure all future handicap leagues are fair for everyone.
