CCDG Monthly Meetings
There's been a little confusion about the new time for meetings. Club meetings are now the first Tuesday of the month at 6pm. The first meeting under this new time will be April 2. Meeting will be in the upstairs room of Fitzgeralds Public House (F/stop), located at 335 Grove St. NE, Salem. General club business will be discussed, reports from committees and general disc golf items. Memberships expire 3/31/13 for anyone that has not renewed. Memberships will be $10.00 again this year. Bag tags will be available as well, $15.00 for members, $20.00 for non-members. Hope to see you there.

"RIVAL CLUBS" #1 Host CCDG
The kickoff of the 2013 RIVAL CLUBS series is Sunday March 31 at 9:00am at Keizer Rapids. Capital City Disc Golf is the defending champion and due to host the RIVAL CLUBS # 1 of the 2013 series, yet ONLY one CCDG player is currently registered!
Remember; RIVAL CLUBS scoring system awards points ONLY to one player of each club in each division. Preregistration is key to clubs/players RIVALRYs, thus maximizing the fun:)

Missing basket at Cascades
Went out to Cascades to check on the basket (15) that's missing. The lock is still on the collar, so who ever took it must have had a key. Called Salem PD to report the loss and an officer is supposed to get back to me later. Also someone has fashioned a tone pole of sorts in the basket position. Going to be in touch with Beast to get the practice basket from Woods and put it at Cascades for now and get a new pole for the practice basket we have and get it to the practice basket position at Woods.

I know there are fences to mend within our group, it's just disc golf not life or limb. We all aren't on the same page at times but truly believe that we all have the future growth of disc golf at our best interest. I would like to see who could donate so items for our troops, currently my son Ryan Wildcard Harpster is on deployment in Afghanistan and his FST team is made up of 20 men and women. Taloali Annual Permits
Camp Taloali annual memberships are available. Membership runs Oct. 1, 2012 thru Sept. 30, 2013. They need to sell at least 42 memberships. Purpose of the memberships is to put a portable toilet on the course. Memberships are $20 and will entitle you to play unlimited golf at Taloali when it is open to the public. This is to let everyone know that I personally called the camp administrator and informed her that we would have a large group there Sunday and she put us on the calender of events.I did this a week ago to make sure it was taken care of. As for the $13 dollars in the pay box, I am disappointed in a lot of people for not putting the money in the box. Everyone that plays there should put $2 in the box. Will have to talk about it but maybe TD's running events at Taloali should collect the fee when entries are collected and personally put the money in the box. Robert Jones

I'm asking for weed-eaters for this work party. If you got one please bring it. If you know someone who has one please borrow it. We need to clear the grass and other growth on all fairways.
We also need to remove all downed branches and trees.
We are also working on the back fill dirt for all those new concrete tee pads. There is plenty of dirt coming out of the new boat ramp and were trying to get the city drop it off around the course. R&R tree service has donated chips to course.

Only 3 tee pads left and Keizer Rapids will have a full 18 tee pads!
I am planning on pouring 17-18 at Keizer Rapids tomorrow morning. I will be picking up the barrel of concrete at 7:30am and ready for help from 8am untill we are done (11am-Noon).
If enough people show up we will clear the new location for hole 7 and pour it also. That will put a wrap on the concrete tee pad portion of the project!
The next steps are to have a survey of the course layout for mapping and signage, clearing of debris in fairway (chipper).

Invasive Weed pull at Keizer Rapids Park on Sat.
The Claggett Creek Watershed Council and staff from the Public Works Stormwater Division will be hosting another invasive weed pull at Keizer Rapids Park on Saturday, June 2, from 9:00am to noon. On April 14th our energetic volunteers removed 100 cubic yards of invasive scotch broom, but there’s a lot more work to do. No experience required! 2nd Annual BATTLE at Keizer Rapids CANCELED
The 2nd Annual BATTLE at Keizer Rapids this weekend is officially CANCELED. I generate the jackpot for the BATTLE format from local businesses and players with hole sponsorship, organized in my BATTLE tournament directors packet. My car was stolen this morning with contents exceeding the value of the car including my entire disc golf bag, tools for work, boots, camp gear, and TD packet with sponsorships. All reported to Salem's finest in a detailed fashion.
I hope to see you all at the 4th Annual BATTLE at Cascades, I will have more time to prepare for that. Sorry:(

Come on out, lets get this course ready. I won't be there, have to work, but would rather be there. Also, the work party will go on no matter what, even if some are going to shoot a second round, they'll have to play around the workers.

Word on the street is there is going to be a bunch a people pulling out scotch broom at Keizer DGC this Saturday.
Claggett Creek Watershed Council is leading the way.
Come join the party.
I'll be parking near Tee Pad #5 at 9 am. I'll have the Weed Wrenches and the Loppers.
I plan to start pulling scotch broom on 13's fairway, that mess on the edge of the pond, and moving over to 16.

Monday February 20th, presidents day, we are going to whistlers bend for a day of disc golf. So far I have four going with me and I know more that would like to go. So if anyone is interested in going and willing to drive, please say something. We plan to leave Salem at 6am for the long drive. This is also Steve's birthday, so come on down and beat his ass in a totally non-gay way. This is a full day of disc golf so plan on being home in the evening possibly late, but it is well worth it. In my opinion this is one of if not the best course in Oregon.

Work Party at Keizer DGC
We have been told by the city today that we have permission to begin work on tee pads 4 thru 9 at Keizer DGC. This Sunday, 22 January, starting at 9am we will have a work party to level tee pads. Meet at tee pad #8 at the end of Chemawa Road. We will have a rototiller from a rental company to do most of the work. We need 5 -6 people to make this happen. Keizer DGC Flooding!
I talked to the park department today and they say as of this morning the flooding has started on the Disc Golf Course. Baskets 11 and 12 are cutoff because of water. They were suppose to pull them out, but they were a day late getting it done.
The Disc Golf Parking Lot is closed.
If you want to play the course drive down to the end of Chemawa and start at 5, 6 or 8.

I want to thank the 7 club members plus myself for showing up for the Keizer City Council meeting last night. Those in attendence were Kyle Groff, Rich Ayers, Steve Moore, Jason Bruster, Lee Hartman, Chris McRae, Chris Wilcox and Robert Jones (If I forgot someone, please let me know). Chris McRae and Chris Wilcox both made public statements on behalf of the club. Money was approved for the pads at about 10:00 something, all of us were there fom 7:00 pm on.

Keizer Rapids City Council Meeting 7 PM Keizer City Hall
I would like to see as many members of our club and interested parties at this meeting tonight. They will be discussing the types of tee pads and placements of tee pads at this meeting. Some city staff members are concerned about damage the pads may cause to the trees. I walked with a State Certified Arborist through the park on Saturday. The "Drive for show or Putt for dough" disc golf tournament is the brain child of Chubbyman. He wanted to force players to putt in a stroke-play format. It has been a week since I have sent invitations to many oregon disc golf clubs for the Oct.29th CCDG event to launch the 2012 "RIVAL CLUBS LEAGUE". I have yet to get a reply. This event is by invite only and CCDG will be providing lunch and some prizes for a single round of 18 holes. If you have recived an invite please respond. The 2012 RIVAL CLUBS LEAGUE is for all involved clubs growth and this event is for the comity of tournament directors to form a LEAGUE. Scotch Broom Removal at Keizer Disc Golf Course, 25 June 10 am
Hey All, This Saturday we will commence with Operation Scotch Broom Removal at Keizer Disc Golf Course. We are going to rip them out, cut them down, and stack them high. According to the clubs list, 30 people that use discgolfscene.com have added CCDG to their favorites list. I have counted only 23 members of the CCDG home site that have made more than 5 posts on there since its conception. To me the numbers don't lie. I use both and will continue to use both but my poll on the CCDG home site is not getting the activity needed to convince my fellow CCDG members the scene is worth messing with. I have posted as per the last CCDG meeting that Ace pool is at $100. For 2011 CCDG Bag Tag league the Ace pool is only open to paid players with $1 for Ace pool on Monday night league or events where Ace pool is open. No casual rounds pay Ace pool.

3rd Annual BATTLE at Cascades
I just walked the course with Steeve M. who is making the course map for the BATTLE layout. Each group will have a map to verify the target hole and mando. This BATTLE will be the toughest yet, therefore the most FUN. If you are familiar with Cascades park you will find yourself taking driving lines you never took before. If Cascades is new to you bring a big arm, these fairways are LONG.

New Course Comming Summer '09
Salem/ Keizer and Capitol City Disc Golf Club are "putting" in a new disc golf course this summer at Keizer Rapids Park on the West end of Chemewa Rd. in Keizer.
