Meeting Minutes
CCDG Meeting Minutes 5/9/2012
Meeting started at 6:38 p.m.
Board members present: Chris Wilcox, Robert Jones, Justin Stinson, Robert Littrell, Vance Tomes
Members present: Cain Stoneking, Andrew Quisenberry, Steve Moore, John Johnson, Kelly McDowell, Chris McRae, Wayne Harvey, Judy Higgins

Web site and social media
Steve Moore has expressed interest in the past in updating/revamping the CCDG main web page to ensure it is updated. His belief is this could be used as a focal point for communications. Some of his ideas include:
-adding current activities and dates on the front page, possibly use a mini calendar for these activities
-update course pages with current pictures, status and current conditions
-quick link for work party information
The club is very interested in helping Steve move forward with this endevor. Chris Wilcox will coordinate the transfer of knowledge between Steve Moore and Rich Ayers. Steve indicated that there is a big learning curve for gaining the knowledge of this information and that he will not be able to accomplish this task immediately. He would like to take the next month to evaluate if he wants to take on this task or not.
There was some discussion about what other website options are available. Beast indicated that in the past he checked with DGScene to see if they would host our club site, but because we already have our own site, this is not an option they offer.

Disc golf store
With the closing of Play it Again Sports in Salem, the timing is right for CCDG to enter into the sales and distribution of golf discs and apparel. Chris Wilcox believes the club should move quickly to open a CCDG disc golf store. Options discussed included:
-Dedicated store
-Wall space at existing store or convenience store
-Mobile store/trailer
-Restore the shed at hole 4 Cascade gateway
Considerations
-vendor permit
-business license
-man power
The top two choices were the shed at Cascade and a mobile store.
Chris Wilcox will talk to the City of Salem to see if restoring the shed for use by the is an option.
The Cap City Cab is an option for the mobile store (see next topic). Additionally John Johnson has volunteered to speak with the Elks club about the possible use of their trailer for disc sales on Elks property adjacent to hole 13 at Cascade Gateway.

Cap City Cab
Vance brought forward an opportunity for club members to help sponsor the purchase of a short bus. The bus is currently owned by Stinky's family. They are willing to sell it to CCDG for $1000. Vance suggested the the club look for individual sponsors to help purchase the bus. If 10 people would be willing to sponsor $100 each, that would cover the cost.
The specs of the van are as follows:
-1991 Ford F350
-runs off of two 30 gallon propane tanks
-12 seats with room for 3 wheelchairs
-Rear lift
-63K miles
John Johnson has offered to inspect the bus to determine the mechnical and overall condition. If it check out, he will be on point for accepting sponsorships.
The purpose of the bus would be to provide club member transportation to out of town tournaments. A nominal fee would be charged to cover expenses.
The bus could also be used as a traveling store.
Chris Wilcox and Vance will be on point for obtaining an insurance quote.

Club Apparell
Ron Owings researched local companies and provided estimates for various club logo'd apparel. He determined that purchasing items through Paragon is a better deal. Gavin has designed a few new logo ideas that will be posted for club members to vote. Chris and Ron will move forward with this endeavor.

Talolai Tournament Preparations
It would be really nice if a few t-pads could be installed prior to the tournament on 5/19/2012. Justin Stinson will be the project manager to get the t-pads fully installed. He will coordinate the manpower and resources, and call a workparty, possibly on 5/26/2012. Stay tuned for more information.

Miscellaneous
Chris Wilcox indicated that the club banner needs updating to include all the parks including Dallas City Park and the new Independence park.
The disc boxes at Keizer Rapids and Woodmansee keep being vandalized. A different design is needed to prevent this vandalism. Considerations should include a lock on the bottom, possibly a baffel, different mental material (steel) and 3 or 4 feet deep. Wayne will speak with Dan about these options.
The group discussed the new Salem Club, Chain Bangers and their relation to CCDG. Because many people join multiple clubs throughout the state, there are no issues here and people can have duties in and participate in both clubs activities.

Woodmansee Lone Wolf Glow Series
Beast made a motion that the Thursday glow activities at Woodmansee be moved to Friday. These are scheduled on the lunar cycle typically twice a month on the dark nights. Additionally he would like to host a handicap league prior to the glow event. Start time and payout would be the same as Monday league. This league would use new handicaps and the handicaps from Monday would not transfer over. The glow event would be changed to a doubles instead of a lone wolf format, with the option to go back to lone wolf format by popular demand. Justin Stinson will be the co-tournament director for these events. Chris Wilcox seconded. Unanimously approved. Beast will have the specific dates by the next monthly meeting.

Open Mic
Wayne inquired if there was any interest in having a club basket fund. This funds could be used for the purchase of portable baskets in order for the club to host events at different venues. There wasn't much interested in this idea.
The lost basket from Woodmansee was discussed. There was thought that it may have been found, however, there were no clearly identifying marks on the basket in question so no further action will be taken.
Steve Moore reported that he met with Salem parts staff at Woodmansee. The City is looking to have open communication with the club. These are the topics they discussed.
-full time t-sign sponsorships: The City is comfortable with sponsorship at tournaments, but needs to look into the legality of full time sponsorships on t-signs and kiosks.
-mowing: because the disc golf course is located natural growth area, the City has only scheduled mowing once per year, typically in June for fire hazard reasons. He discussed options of hiring a licensed garden service or having club members weed-wack the area. If club members volunteer, they need to take a safety class first.
-Hole 14 tpad: The City needs a proposal before they authorize any work. Beast has a number of ideas and will draft a proposal and work with Chris/Steve to have it submitted to the City.
Steve Moore inquired into the status of the Molalla event on 6/16/2012. CCDG is involved in the coordination of the disc golf activities only. Gavin is coordinating the activities for the club. If you are interested in assisting, contact Gavin.
Beast would like a standardized sponsorship template established. Chris Wilcox has created these previously and will provide one to Beast.
