Clubs and individuals or businesses interested in matching sponsorship for a basket at Big Bend Park ($200 per hole) will be given until May 1st to secure their sponsorship. In return for sponsorship, the club, individual or business will be guaranteed a berth to the tournament. After May 1st, registration will be open for the remaining spots in the bracket and available on a first-come, first-served basis. So far, the following clubs/individuals have sponsored holes: Mt Pleasant Disc Golf, Club Dead Disc Golf Team, Battle Creek Disc Golf, Big Rapids Disc Golf, FSU Disc Sports Club, Snyder's Market, and Jamie Vincent.

The fairways at Big Bend were roughed in this past Nov. My goal is to have baskets in the ground before Memorial Day. The course connects two campgrounds, and is very wooded. No wide-open holes. Several are long and tight, taking advantage of gradual changes in elevation. Water definitely comes into play on two of the holes--tournament basket placements on those holes each add about 50 feet to each hole in a precarious location with a 30' drop off to the river behind....

I've sent out a request to the MDGO for clubs/individuals to sponsor holes. I will match you or your clubs $200 donation to sponsor a hole, and for that donation, your club gets a berth. Clubs/sponsors have until May 1st to sponsor a hole and secure a spot. After that, all remaining berths will go those who pay first.

Should the current trend continue, and barring a substantial number of 'walk ins,' the field will be set at 16 with the following adjustments in the payouts: Match Play: 1st: $1,000, 2nd: $250, 3rd: $150, 4th $100. All players 1-1 after the first two matches will win $25.00. Doubles payouts for the 6-team field will be: 1st: $400, 2nd: $300, 3rd: $200.

CORRECTION: Should you opt for the Huge grant, all you have to do to repay "the man" is to win one of your first two 12-hole matches! After that, we split everything 50/50. So, if you win it all, your take is half of $950! If you take second, your take is half of $450! If you win only one match, but prevail in the doubles, your take would be half of $200, etc., etc., etc.

In the event registration falls short of 32, no matter how many show up, the winner will get $1,000! (other payouts will be adjusted based on the "take"). All those who have paid by 5:00 pm Friday, July 29th will be randomly assigned a place in the tournament bracket--along with the hole on which play will begin. That drawing will be conducted at tournament central at Big Bend Park. Should there be less than 32 on Friday at 5pm, a "bye" for each spot the draw is short will also be randomly assigned at that time. Any player wishing to 'buy in' to the draw prior to the beginning of play on Sat. morning will be randomly assigned to the bracket at 8:30 am. For an additional $10 players will receive lunch, all the Oberon they can drink until the 1/4 keg I'm donating is gone, and be entered into an ace pool/cash ctp.
