Skinny Raven Disc Golf Classic

I have posted the group picture from the Skinny Raven Disc Golf Classic in my pictures on my page, as I can't upload pics to the tournament page. We'll be giving an 8x10 copy to both Skinny Raven Sports and Peppercini's Deli House.

Karen, the ratings on PDGA for the tournament are unofficial at this point, which means they will make adjustments once they have included the measured distances and the conditions I indicated in the TD report. This can take a while, sometimes they aren't made official until the next ratings update. There is also a prevailing opinion that we usually get shorted a bit here in Alaska as far as ratings are concerned, which is most likely due to the fact that we don't have 1000+ rated players regularly playing our tournaments. The ratings system uses the 1000 rating level as a sort of benchmark. The unofficial ratings you see right now only take into account the scores and respective ratings from the players present. I'm guessing the ratings will adjust upwards once they're official, but it's hard to say.

I know this course was set up just for this tournament, and I'm wondering how ratings were determined? I've played similar distance courses with less elevation change, only slightly more tree/shrub, but with very different ratings for similar scores (805-830 compared to 720-780).

I'd like to give a big thanks to all the people that came out and played the event, despite the relentless rain. Thank you also for your patience with your TDs, both of whom were new to running a sanctioned tournament. Thank you as well to all the volunteers who helped Tim and I in any way. Thanks to all our sponsors: Skinny Raven Sports, Peppercini's Deli, the PDGA, the ADGA, and Innova-Champion Discs. I hope everybody had a great time!

We will be collecting money for those who would like to pre-register tomorrow at Saturday league at Peters Creek. We would greatly appreciate those who are able to bring extra cash with you to league so that we can reduce the number of people needing to pay the day of the event, and it's one less thing you've got to worry about on Sunday morning.

Prior to teeing off please have one spotter from your group ensure that another card isn’t putting or approaching Hole #18’s basket (regular #9) to avoid potential distraction/interference. Hole #1: 226’ Tee is located on the north side of the storage shed, and the basket is visible approximately 35’ from the light pole and drainage culvert on the east edge of #9’s regular fairway. Prior to teeing off please have one spotter from your group ensure that another card isn’t putting or approaching Hole #18’s basket (regular #9) to avoid potential distraction/interference. Hole #2: 272’ Tee is located about 70’ north of basket #1, near a pile of wood chips on the east edge of regular #9’s fairway. The basket sits in sight uphill through a gap in the trees, in the center of regular #5’s fairway. Hole #3: 230’ Tee is located on the west edge of the fairway in between the two light poles and #7’s regular basket. The basket sits in sight right near the opening of the trail leading into the woods on the east edge of 9’s regular fairway. Hole #4: 307’ Tee is located 70’ north of #3’s basket and throws back across the fairway to the regular #7 basket. Hole #5: 336’ Tee is located approximately 100’ north of basket #4, on the north side of regular #7’s golf green near the sand trap. The basket is the regular basket for #8. Hole #6: 243’ Tee is located about 90’ north of #5’s basket. Throw across the fairway to the regular basket for Hole #6. Hole #7: 413’ Tee is located uphill from #6’s basket, near the corner of the fence. The basket sits up on regular Hole #6’s Astroturf golf tee area. Hole #8: 290’ Tee is located near the regular golf green for #5, and the basket sits in the alternate sleeve by the hedge on the east edge of regular #5’s golf fairway. Hole #9: 402’ Tee is located near the normal tee area for regular #4. The basket is in sight near the rock pile on the left side of the fairway. The road is considered out of bounds, with the inside edge of the bollards determining the OB line. Hole #10: 301’ Tee is located near regular #5’s golf tee. The basket is located across the road on the west side of the model train building. This is an island green marked with flags, any throws on the outside of the flagged area are considered OB. Throw from where you were last in bounds with a penalty throw added. Hole #11: 250’ Tee is located on the backside of the model train building. The basket is #3’s regular basket. The parking lot/road is also OB on this hole, with the inside edge of the bollards indicating the OB line. Hole #12: 225’ Tee is located on the north side of regular #3’s golf green. The basket is located at the west edge of the fairway near the grassy clearing that slopes downhill. Hole #13: 342’ Tee is located approximately 70’ south of #12’s basket. The basket is visible through the gap in the trees and sits on the plateau above regular #2’s golf green. Proceed to #14’s tee with care as players may be teeing off as you finish this hole.
Hole #14: 196’ Tee is located in the clearing downhill from #2’s regular basket, and is played uphill to this basket. Hole #15: 233’ Tee is located behind the chalet and is at the regular golf tee for Hole #1. The basket is downhill about 20’ east of the first of the two light poles with blue padding. Hole #16: 305’ Tee is located about 100’ south of #15’s basket, past the second light pole equipped with blue padding. Throw to #1’s regular basket. Hole #17: 269’ Tee is located about 80’ NNW of #16’s basket. The basket is located at the top of the hill on the flat adjacent to the bike trail. While the bike trail is not considered OB, please give trails users the right of way before proceeding with any throws on or near the trail. Hole #18: 323’ Tee is located on the east side of regular #9’s golf green. The basket is the regular #9 basket.
