The forehand line is next to get cleared, the hyzer line was first, and this hole has been pinned by multiple players of different abilities with the new turnover shot clearance. I love it! But also understand the big oak immediately off the temporary carpet tee throws people. Thanks for the feedback as a whole, this is exactly what we want and need before finalizing anything. Concrete is hard to move once poured and so would really like to know any and all thoughts from local players.

Just have a line that (at the very least) pros can consistently hit. Difficult holes shouldn't involve a lot of luck; I'm tired of course designing thinking that anything DG difficult is 'good'. I can drop a basket in the middle of any woods as a 'difficult' hole; but, it's ignorant to believe that it's a 'good' hole. Difficulty should praise skill over luck.

100% Agreed Eric! A "Good Hole" is one that incorporates skill as the backbone with maybe a little luck sprinkled in. Having a specific line or throw is not always essential though, and in the absence of a defined "Must throw Line" multiple options to try will suffice. I am a firm believer that if many options exist (and results proven) anyone can step up to a hole and see their options and succeed. Will everyone reach the green? Never! But is it likely a seasoned player will reach the green? YES and hole 3 is no exception. The remaining clearing of 3 for the long pad will open the corner and allow for bigger arms and better players to play this hole from the long pad with a much more defined line. This is how the hole was designed, not to the short pad, but to the long, the short is essentially worked into a larger picture that is not yet completed. And, while your argument is 100% legitimate and 100% appreciated, I think we need to complete that hole before we can truly judge it's potential. Temp baskets are out and the 18 hole layout at the Thorne is up and good for practice. Downtown is not up though, as it would be difficult to maintain over several days lol. Hard to maintain just for one day honestly.

As it stands, we are using a variation of last years layout with some much needed improvements. As you may be aware we planned on using the Phoenix Center but with only 3 days notice, due to litigations in regards to the Phoenix Center we were forced to completely redesign and move the course. As of Jan. 4th, the city has resolved the legal issues between the Ottawa Towers and Phoenix Center. The OG course we designed atop of the city is of course the dream but we are tempering expectations. We will be proposing both layouts this year to DPW and the Mayor’s Office.

Hi Jay, we haven’t specified that it will be putters and midranges only this year. Though we are asking to try to limit it to such discs. As you played it last year, you know the holes downtown are almost all less than 250’ so there is very little need for wide rimmed discs.

Right on....I don't think my wife would wama throw the hawthorn course but she would be down for throwing around downtown pontiac...can we jus play the downtown. Layout and not play Hawthorne or do you have to play both courses
