League rounds for our final week at the beautiful yet challenging Punderson Disc Golf begin today!!! Don't forget to follow the usual protocol by paying before you play your round, scheduling your round via post, and to submit your scorecards ASAP after your round.

Also, please be sure to reference the OB post for any questions during your round, as OB is abundant at Pundy. Please note the slight changes to water OBs (ignoring the ropes in some areas), the Island Rules, and Hole 4 OB rules especially, as they differ from normal play and have been changed to make it somewhat easier to understand the OB rules.

A and B Pool are playing REDS TO LONGS (long pins on 2, 9, 12, and 15), and C Pool is playing REDS TO SHORTS. Get out there and get those rounds in. But most importantly HAVE FUN!!!

Week 4 is also our League Finale and will take us to the gem of a course at Punderson. All competitors will be Red tees, with A and B Pools playing Reds to Longs (including the Island Pin on Hole 2), and C Pool playing Reds to Shorts. Long pins are on holes 2, 9, 12, and 15. The Red to Long par is 59, with Red to Short at a par of 54. Below you will find the OBs for each hole and rules for the Island Pin on Hole 2 for the A and B players:

Course OBs in Play:

Hole 1 - Pine Lake (behind basket)

Hole 2- Pine Lake (along right of fairway and near short pin -- see bottom of OB list for special rules for Island pin)

Hole 3 - Pine Lake (along right of fairway)

Hole 4 - Red and Yellow roped areas around creek on right, left of fairway (divides hole 4 and 9 )and around the "green" of the basket (generally the creek on the left but also rope on the right that separates hole 4 and 5) -- to keep it easy, all shots will be played from where the disc went OB rather than using the drop zone rule (which gets complicated)

Hole 5- No OB

Hole 6 - Pine Lake (along right of fairway)

Hole 7 - No OB

Hole 8 - Pine Lake (along left of fairway and green)

Hole 9 - Yellow ropes dividing hole 9 and 4 on the right side and the "chasm" area for those playing the Long Pin

Hole 10 - No OB

Hole 11 - Yellow roped areas on the left of fairway (creek area)

Hole 12 - No OB

Hole 13 - No OB

Hole 14 - No OB

Hole 15 - Pine Lake

Hole 16 - No OB

Hole 17 - No OB

Hole 18 - No OB

For any OB listed as Pine Lake, ignore the ropes that are along the lake and use "surrounded by water" as the OB rule. If you disc is not surrounded by water, it is considered in bounds. This comes into play on holes 2,3, 6, and 15.

As with any OB rule, a one shot penalty is incurred for each shot that goes OB. You are allowed a meter off the OB area for shots that go OB and those that are close to OB.

Hole 2 Island Rules: The in bounds area on the island is inside the wooden planks and the roped areas on the left (near the bridge). A disc must be inside the planks. If it lands on the planks or touching the outside of the planks, it is not considered in bounds. The disc has to come to rest on the island. If it skips off after touching in bounds but goes OB, the shot is considered OB. Two shots can be taken to reach the island. If the two shots do not land safely, the player will move to the Gold Tee for Hole 3 (on the platform) for their next shot, and incur a one stroke penalty for each shot that goes OB. This is the same condition for those who attempt to reach the island off the tee. If a player does this, and misses twice, they would be moving to the drop zone shooting their 5th shot (and most likely be taking a double bogey and a score of 6 on the hole). This will hopefully cut back on lost discs and prevent people from continually throwing at the island.

I know this is a lot, but it is standard for the course, which makes it one of the most fun and challenging courses in Ohio. My suggestion is to use this post for reference during your round to check any possible questions you may have.

For the final week at Punderson next week, we will be doing the following format:

A and B Pool - Reds to Longs (including Hole 2 Island)

C Pool - Reds to Shorts

For the Island, the wooden planks surrounding the green are the OB line. If your shot does not land safely in bounds, a rethrow will occur (with a one shot penalty). If the rethrow does not land safely in bounds, the player will move to the platform for their next shot (with another one shot penalty). This will minimize lost discs and people continually throwing to land safely. An update on OBs for the entire layout will be posted on Wednesday

Don't forget to follow the standard protocol of paying for your league before playing, scheduling your round via post (here or on DGS), and sending your scorecard in a timely fashion!! Rounds can be played any day beginning tomorrow through Memorial Day. And weather looks much more optimal t his week!!

OBs for The Pond will be in play and will match the OBs listed on the tee signs. See below for details:

Also, note that since we are using the OBs listed on the signs, being over the road on holes 1, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, and 18 along with being over the path on hole 3 are considered IN BOUNDS. This means that your are only OB if you disc comes to rest on these paved surfaces.

I am seeing a very wide range of scores this week and it has me wondering and concerned. Considering I played yesterday (along with 90% of you) and know how that wind was, I tend to find it worrisome that C Players are throwing as good as if not better than most B Players and even a couple A Players. This is the result of either 2 scenarios: 1. Players are playing down a Pool. or 2. Players are not being honest with their scores. In that wind yesterday, 10 foot putts were not easy. I was there, I experienced it. To see C Players throwing single digit over par is not likely. I'm not accusing anyone or saying it cannot happen, but to me it is very unlikely.

We need to remember C Pool is for women, children, and new players who average double digits over par a round. In the first week, all C Players were +30 over par at Sims, and the scores were generally close. This week I'm seeing C Players posting scores that beat most B Players. That to me tells me that one of two things need to occur: 1. Eliminate C Pool or 2: Make C Poll solely for women and children and some very new players that are just learning the game.

I want to keep this fair for all players and want to encourage new players, women, and children to play. When there's this much difference in scores in the C Pool, it will do nothing but turn away those players and discourage them from competing. That is not the goal. We need to keep things fair and competitive for all. I want to the keep the C Pool, but will be much more strict about who plays in it for the final two weeks of league.

As for this week, I'm leaving the scores as is. The funny thing is, most of these C Pool players who played well would have ended up getting more payout playing in B Pool. I don't want to screw the B Pool players who would then be ousted from a payout by moving the C Players up into their Pool. Neither seems right, so I"m leaving it as is for this week.

Please be sure you are honest about not only what Pool you deserve to play in but also your scores. It is quite obvious something as afoul when the scores show this much difference between players.

We still have one day left of league for this week. Rain is in the forecast tomorrow, but feel free to get out there if you can. Next week's round will move to Painesville before the finale at Punderson for the final week.

Week 2 at Osborne Park in WIlloughby begins tomorrow!!! League rounds can be played at any time beginning tomorrow through this following Monday (5/18). Please remember these simple rules:

1. Send payment before your round to PayPal (Friends and Family) to [email redacted]

2. Post on this page (or the discgolfscene.com page) before your round to "schedule" your round. Groups must be 2-4 players per card.

3. Send an image of the scorecard to me via messenger or text within 4 hours of your scheduled round start time.

We didn't have any glaring issues last week, so I'm hoping this has worked well.

Don't forget, this week is 2 rounds of the 9 hole layout at The Oz. Course OBs have already been posted and will be in play.

Last week we had 30 total players. Let's see if we can surpass that for this week!!! Spread the word and GOOD LUCK!!!!

WEEK TWO LEAGUE ROUNDS BEGIN FRIDAY!!!!

Week 2 begins this coming Friday (5/15) and run through Monday (5/18)!! This round is at Osborne Park will Willoughby playing 2 rounds of 9 for an 18 hole layout.

OBs for Osborne Park are in play and include:
Hole 1 -- on or over the road behind the basket (drop zone if OB)
Hole 2 - Lake Erie and over the fence on the left
Hole 3 - Lake Erie
Hole 4 - Lake Erie and residential yards (over the fences)
Holes 5 and 6 - Residential yards (over the fences)

A 1 stroke penalty should be incurred if you go OB and the next shot should be taken from where you went OB, except for the drop zone on Hole 1.

A few key reminders:

1. Be sure to prepay for your round. Payment needs to be sent BEFORE you play your round. Send payment via PayPal to: [email redacted] BE SURE TO USE FRIENDS AND FAMILY SO THERE IS NO FEES!!! It is a $6 entry per player, regardless of Pool.

So far we've had 3 A Pool players, 9 B Pool players, and 3 C Pool players. Let's get this closer to 25-30 before it's all done!! After much thought and some player feedback, I've decided to make this league A, B, and C Pools. I want to keep a fair competitive balance for all players and also want to ensure new players have a chance. Below you find the guidelines for each Pool.

A Pool -- Averages an under par round at each course. Using PDGA standards, this should be any player who plays Advanced or Open and some Intermediate players (920 + rated).

B Pool -- Averages par to 8 over during a round at each course. Using PDGA standards, this should be any player who plays Intermediate and some higher Recreational rated players (890+).

C Pool -- Averages 9+ over during a round at each course. This should generally be new and lower level players.

Average score is the best way to determine this. I realize B players can shoot under par on occasion, just as an A player may be over par. But take your average score to determine where you think you will fall. I do reserve the right to bump players who are playing down. You also have the option to play up a Pool. Play where you think you belong. The scores will help show that. If you have any doubts, please let me know. I know the majority of players who will be partaking in this league and would be glad to let you know where I think you should play. i also don't anticipate a large C Pool. But to ensure new players don't get scared off by some of our better B players, I think it's fair to give this 3 Pools a shot. It may change depending on where people play and score this week.

I will be updating the League Rules doc that's announced at the top of the Facebook page with these changes and Pool clarification. That will be done tonight. I will also try to find a way to post that here as a "League Flyer."

Below you will find the League Payout scale. Keep in mind that we are doing A and B Pools. Clarification on Pools is below. I am contemplating a possible C Pool for some players, as the line between A and B can be very narrow. But the difference between B players can be quite significant. I want this league to be fair and fun for all. So I will be very strict when it comes to the league rules and what Pool players play in. I do reserve the right to bump folks that are obviously bagging. I also will not tolerate any cheating. If I catch wind of this, the players will be booted from league and blocked from the page. This can occur from many things, like fudging scorers, taking extra shots, of using multiple rounds to get your "best" round score. The biggest issue with this league will be trust. I am going in with trust for all. But if I do find out about any of this, I will take the appropriate actions.

Pool Details:

Simply put, if you play in any of the local Doubles leagues, you should play the Pool (A / B) that you play during these leagues. This is a singles league, so I anticipate a wide spread of scores, regardless of Pool. But here's some other clarification -

A Pool -- If you are a PDGA member and have a 900+ rating and play any Advanced division, you are an A player. I do realize there's a big difference between a 900 and a 940 rated player. But as a singles league, this should even out if all play honestly. If you are not a PDGA member, if you average AT OR BELOW PAR at the course, you are an A player. The courses we are using are short. I know there's some B players that can shoot under par. But if you average anything below par, you are an A player. At Sims for example, I can have rounds that go anywhere from 6 or 7 down to 2-3 over. But I'd say I average -3. So I am an A player.

B Pool -- If you are a PDGA member and are rated below 900 and play generally in Recreational, Novice, or in some instances Intermediate, you are a B player. Just as an A player averages below par, and B player should average above par, generally 3+ or more.

I know most players in the area play above their rating. So the ratings / division relationship gets skewed. If you have any doubts, please let me know and I will try to clarify or let you know what division you belong in.

Point being, this league is set up to keep the competitive spirit going until we are cleared for our normal Doubles leagues. I want this to be fun yet competitive. So please follow all rules and be sure you keep it legit and fair. No clubs are taking any money from this. I am doing it out of my love for the game. The time I will be putting into this is significant, and I know there will be bumps along the way. So please understand this is something completely new and I I plan to run it by the books. For any of you have played in any leagues or events I run, you know I run a tight ship. Do not expect anything less from this.

Week 1 will be at Sims Park in Euclid with a 20 hole standard layout (including holes 1 and 2). Rounds can be played any time on Friday May 8th through Monday May 11th Please be sure to do the following:

1. Prepay for your round via Paypal (payment details in league description). Entry should be paid before you round is started.

2. Schedule your round by posting here or on the Facebook page. Rounds must be scheduled!!! Your payment and post must coincide times.

3. Play with at least one other person, but no more than 4 to a card.

4. Send your scorecard photo via text or FB message (my personal page or group page) within 4 hours of scheduling you round.

These 4 things need to happen to keep it legit and fair. Round scores will not be accepted if these do not occur!!!

Also, be sure to have a scorecard that is LEGIBLE!!!! I need to see the scores on all holes and be able to double check the scores and see birdie / bogey counts to help with possible tie breakers.
