OK what did it take to get into the top ten out of 576 Michigan League players

Must have played an average 49.5 Rounds, 3.1 Avg Rounds / week - Lowest number of rounds in the top 10 was 32 josh Minard and most rounds played was 75 Jay B.

That would have ensured you had an average 30.5 Rounds Counted out of the max 32 rounds - Beats the round stats from Winter - Wonder why????

Each round you had to average 20.223 Points per Rounds but I see as low as 8 pts and as high as 122 - I'll explain that Max high points shortly.

You had to average 8.5 Wins for the season
Nail 1.7 Aces on average Man I have a bunch of 0.7 Aces - wish they counted.
Attend 2.9 HLW to get those Double Points - OK that's a Hint on that Max Point Round above....

Now between the top ten players this summer there was a Point Spread of 353 points, with our champion amassing 1151 points.

It also looks like you had to have played at least a few rounds at the 2017 Cass Benton Monday Night Doubles league this season. In the MiCPS you get points for out performing other players during the same round so the bigger the league round the more points up for grabs. Caps out at 60 players to try and level the delta between large and small leagues. As you see from the stats above you don't always have to win the round, especially if there are a lot of competitors in the round. Small leagues leagues get a boost to try and equalize things but there should be some advantage for the ones who can go to the bigger leagues and be on top at the end. So 2017 Cass Benton Monday Night Doubles had a great participation which meant lots of points up for grabs each round and I'm sure the Ace pool was as well. Who runs that league any way? Nicely done Phil "Puttimus Prime" Common, who also helps with DGLA and this Point Series - Nice

So whats the big deal about the Highlighted League of the Week (HLW)? We besides it ensure we have an opportunity to show everyone around the state what each club/league is doing, special announcements, plugs for special events, some do cook outs, Fireworks, some have extra prizes, some have special pre-round games and CTPs. You just never know what a group of Disc Golfers will come up with to have more fun. Oh and Yeah Double points.
So the end results is its a great time to travel to a league or course you have not been to or go back and see some great friends, make new ones - Party on Garth.

Double points and Big leagues = Max Points - Well if the league has more than 60 players you hit the Max normal points of 61 if there is no tie for first place. So Double that and you get Max points of 122 points for a single round. That is Max Points baby. NICE!!!!! It was achieved once this season in the top ten at least.

Bottom line - If you can possible make it you want to grab a friend and head to the HLWs, even if you get 12th place in a round w over 60 players you will get more points than 1st place at a 20 player league round.

Now both size league rounds have their advantages but for those who really want to compete the HLW and Big leagues test your metal and can reward you big time.

DGLA would like to once again thank you for your participation in the Michigan Cooperative Point Series (MiCPS) in 2017. We need your response concerning your awards. See below

You contributed in many ways and we wanted to highlight a few of these and update you on what is new. Your participation this year contributed to the 4896 rounds played this Summer in Michigan by the 576 league players of the 27 participating league. You also supported the growth of this State-wide Point Series and bigger and better things for Disc Golf leagues in Michigan. You helped make this the biggest MiCPS year yet. THANKS! for making our 8th year so successful.

In return you are sharing in a part of the $ 425.00 ($ 115.00 Winter, $ 310.00 Summer) MiCPS-2017 awards with the other 17 DGLA Player members.

I always like to see how much we would have for awards if all the league players paid in - That would be 576 players who participated and the total award funds would be FOURTEEN THOUSAND, four hundred dollars - Yup $14,400. Not bad for playing disc golf leagues - One day....

As a DGLA Player member you have also contributed to the DGLA Michigan Course Improvement fund with $5 from your DGLA membership fee? Thank you and enjoy our many wonderful Michigan courses with more new courses and improvements coming soon. Thank you for your contribution to this cooperative effort.

$695 Total funds available to date in DGLA Michigan Course Improvement fund. Thank You!

You can also say that you helped the Disc Golf League Association continue to grow and improve as we cooperatively work to improve disc golf leagues together.

This year we had no player package again so $10 additional per player was added to the Payout awards - Bonus!!!!

So of your $30 fee (less than most tournaments cost- You had two seasons: Winter and Summer, 30 weeks of leagues, saw players standings and achievements from around the state, got points from playing in any of the 27 participating leagues and of that $30 - 5.00 goes to course improvement fund, $12.50 to Winter awards and $12.50 to Summer awards. For those who join for only Summer all $25 goes into the summer awards.

As always DGLA will payout awards for the top 40 Players or top 40% of the Players whichever is largest - each season.
Thanks to donations of Player Members last year we were able to add some additional items to the DGLA treasure Chest and offer more awards to players - Again THANKS!
We will continue to explore new opportunities to improve the Point Series and your feedback is appreciated.

OK the MiCPS is officially over tomorrow at Midnight. That gives league admin 1 week to post and update after the last round was played last Saturday.

To avoid a mega post I'm going to post a few stats here for those who care since I like to dissect the number s a few different ways and like to give Kudos to those who achieved even if they did not end up at the top spots.

For the DGLA Player members I will post the berth awards and the submit them to MDGO so you can register. Reminder you must register at least 1 week prior to the event or you lose your berth and it is up for grabs in the Last Chance Qualifier on Friday before The Discraft Michigan State Championships

OK for some stats.

There are several stats that tend to really impact overall points, Number of rounds played, Wins, ACEs, Highlighted League of the Weeks (2x points) and I like to look at the Average Points per Round to see who the potential movers and Shakers are if only they could play more rounds.

So who had the most rounds ?

Now the max counted rounds is 32 but those extra rounds increased these players odds to maximize their point total keeping the highest two rounds in a given week. I also saw several who hit Aces in a round that was dropped but the Aces always count for an extra 25 points. Nice!

So if Brandon oleskie had a Avg Pt/Rnd of 61.33333333 for 6 rounds.
If Brandon continued this level of play for the remaining 26 rounds he would have been our Champion - Watch for Brandon to be on the move next season. Nicely done Brandon.

So I only see one of the top 10 players in that list - how is that possible.

OK so Geoff Bennett, currently in 1st place, has a Avg pot/rnd of 28.77 but he has played 40 rounds of which only 28 counted - 12 were the third round of the week, but this help maximize his point total for the best 32 rounds. So more like a 41.1 avg pts / round.

So its a no brainer that you want the highest possible pts per rnd average and ensure you got your 32 rounds and any extra rounds just help ensure you maximized your point total.

OK I'll break down the stats for the top ten to see how they got there and what you may want to focus on next season if you want to be there as well, in my next post with the official standings and berth awards.

Got Berths?

DGLA Player level awards will be announce 1 week after the Point Series last round - give league admin time to post last rounds. Berths awarded in plenty of time to register before the deadline. "must be RECEIVED before Aug 25 2017" otherwise "your berth is no longer valid and you may have to play in the LCQ to get in to this event."

Remember if you win a berth you must register it before the deadline or you lose it, register early to secure your spot in your division as some will fill faster than others. If you do not Win your berth you still might have a chance to play depending on division. Normally plenty of spots for women but divisions like AM 1 will fill quickly. If you don't have your berth by the end of the season you can play the Friday "LAST CHANCE QUALIFIER Friday at 4 pm for remaining berths. One round on BEAST for Pools A B and C- ALL OTHER pools play BEAUTY. Best scores win all remaining/unclaimed berths. .. Cost is $10. "

This Point Series is Free to all league players who play MI league. If you want to be eligible for awards or for Berths for the Discraft Mi Disc Golf Championships based on your performance as compared to just the other Player level members than you need to register and pay $30 before May 22nd. This Point Series is Free to all league players who play MI league. If you want to be eligible for awards or for Berths for the Discraft Mi Disc Golf Championships based on your performance as compared to just the other Player level members than you need to register and pay $30 before May 22nd. Make sure you check out the schedule and read my long winded and misspelled, grammar challenged and 5th grade humor infused post for all the exciting and critical information to enhance your playing experience this summer in Michigan Leagues.

League admin who are in the MiCPS send me your desired HLW date at least two weeks prior so everyone knows in advance - Before May 21st

Players if you play any Michigan league you can get points for those rounds just post the link to the leagues about page in the comments section or hit Phil or me up with a message.

If you want to compete for State Berths and awards based on your performance as compared to the other DGLA Player members you need to register before May 7th. MiCPS is FREE otherwise for bragging rights and unlimited laughs and giggles
