CONGRATULATIONS to Aaron for the win for HMDG Summer League! Aaron edged out Chris by 1 point, 60 and 59 respectively. Aaron was throwing so well over the course of the league that he didn't need to show up this week OR he's out of town on vacation.

The weekly win went to Joe again at -5, 50. Tommy rounded out the day at -3, 52 and second place. Jeremy played pretty well, bearing his handicap and shooting a 57 raw score and 54 handicap for 3rd place. Pat made his monthly appearance and played to his handicap at a 56 raw score and 55 handicap while finishing 4th. Jim had a rough go today with a +6, 61 giving him a handicap score of 58. Cassie was next in the finishing order with an 86 raw score and handicap of 62. Mike finished this week and scored a 73 raw and 66 handicap. A returning disc golfer this week was Matt! Great having you out there and look forward to playing with you again. Score one more singles round to establish your handicap and fight for league points. Angela was able to throw 9 holes with her husband but had family obligations to attend to.

The birdie update this week will be pretty quick since Chris and Aaron were elsewhere. Let's see who gets there name in lights. Joe had 7 with a run of 5 in a row. Tommy spread his 4 birdies over the entire round. Tommy birdied the only par 4 on the course with a beautiful second shot that landed within the shadow of the basket. Jeremy's third place finish was aided by his 3 birdies. His birdie on hole 8 was at least a 50 foot approach. Great shot as his disc sank into the chains! Jim and Pat tied with 2 birdies each this week. Jim's drive on hole 8 was on the verge of an ace his drive landed just past the basket. He didn't even needed a full arm extension to drop his driver in for the deuce.

The handicap update this week as implications for the Greasers (Pool A) and Socs (Pool B) for the Random Doubles league that begins on Saturday, September 6th. Following are the players in the Socs Division: Staci (45), Alyssa (41), Cassie (24), Angela (16), Kyly (13) and Mike (9). Greasers Division: Jim & Randy (3), Jeremy (2), Pat (1), Tommy, Aaron, Joe & Chris (scratch).

Before we get into this weeks results here are some HMDG members warming up for the 2104 Sky High Showdown: http://youtu.be/nT6m79v07Gw.

We have a new record! Chris holds the course record (back to back weeks) at an incredible -11, 44! Chris carded 12 birdies but showed that he's human with a bogey on hole 4. Needless to say, the 44 won this week. Aaron was 6 shots behind the leader with a 50, -5. Joe will tell you he should have been lower than his 51, -4, IF those darn putts went in. Tommy finished fourth this week with a 2 under 53. Those are all of the leagues scratch golfers.

The rest of the field ended with Jeremy at 57 raw and 54 handicap for 5th. Randy and Jim tied at 58 and have the same handicap for adjusted score of 55, par. Angela totaled a 73 and 56 handicap. Cassie shot 83 and a 57 handicap. Kyly rounded out the week with a 71 and 59 handicap. Mike started the round but only made it half way through before withdrawing.

Birdie club members for this week are Chris (12), Aaron (6), Tommy & Joe (4 each), Jeremy (3), and Jim & Randy (1 each).

Handicaps for the last week are Staci (45), Alyssa (41), Cassie (24), Angela (16), Kyly (13), Mike (7), Jim, Jeremy & Randy (3), Pat (1) and Tommy, Aaron, Joe & Chris (scratch). After next weeks conclusion of the league round the final handicaps will be used to set the random doubles league pools. It's looking like the cutoff will be handicap of 3 and lower.

Lastly, Jim and Cassie will be hosting the post league BBQ beginning at 3 pm. Please it will be BYOB and a side. BBQ will be burgers, hot dogs and brawts. We will also have UFC 178 on for those that wish to watch as well.

Weekly round up goes like this; Chris (46), Mike (59 raw, 51 handicap), Joe and Tommy (52), Aaron (53), Angela (74 & 56), Jim (61 & 57), Cassie (85 & 60) and Staci (116 & 73).

Birdies were all over the place as you can see with the under par scores. Chris had 10 birdies, Tommy with 5, Aaron & Joe at 3 each, then Jim & Mike with 1 each.

Handicaps for next week: Staci (45), Alyssa (41), Cassie (26), Angela (17), Kyly (12), Mike (7), Jim, Randy & Jeremy (3), Pat (1) and Tommy, Joe, Aaron & Chris (scratch).

Everybody put your hands together for Chris and Joe tying for first this week at -5, 50's and 10 championship points. Aaron was on their heels with a 51. Jim and Randy tied for 3rd with 57 raw score and 53 handicap. Pat tied Tommy at 55 but Pat's handicap gave him a 54 and 4th place. Mike carded a 65 and 56 handicap score for 6th place. Staci tossed 106 with a handicap 60 for 7th place. Ending the weekly results is Staci, 73 and 61; then Cassie, 87 and 62.

Birdie roll call for this weeks rounds is Joe (7), Aaron (6), Chris (5), Tommy (3), Randy & Pat (2) and Jim (1). Highlighting the birdies for this week was Jim's 150 foot approach that slammed the chains for a deuce on hole 13. Did anyone catch that on video?

Aaron is leading the league by 8 points with 48. Chris is sitting at 40 and a distant 3rd is Jim, Tommy and Joe with 33. Can Aaron hold on the next four weeks for the Summer League championship (side bets anyone)?

Congratulations to Aaron for this weeks league win and 8 more championship points!

Chasing the winner this week was Joe with a 52. Jeremy retuned after a 3 week break to claim 3rd, 58 and 53. Chris battled himself to finish 4th at 55. Pat made his second league appearance and tied Chris for 4th. Jim took 5th, 60 and 55, besting Randy with a 60 and 56. Kyly closed out the week with a 70 and 58.

Highlighting the bogeys for the week, err...I mean the birdies. Aaron used 6 birdies enrotue to the weekly win. Chris carded 6 birdies as well and shot par, you do the math. Chris has NEVER shot an above par round yet, yet. Joe was close behind with 5 birdies, Pat had 4, Jeremy with 3 and Jim and Randy with 2 each.

Leaderboard update for those that don't check out the website goes like this: Aaron (38), Chris (30), Tommy (28), Jim (26), Joe (23), Randy (21), Cassie, Jeremy & Kyly (19), Mike (16), Pat (7), Staci and Alyssa (3). Rebecca and Angela will get points during their next league round.

Let's congratulate Tommy for the league win this week with a 49 tying the course record and adding 6 championship points to the leaderboard. Chris and Aaron tied for 2nd at 52, 52 & 54 raw respectively. Jim takes 3rd, 58 and 53; Kyly finished 4th, 72 and 58; followed by Cassie, 87 and 62. Angela recored her second round to establish her handicap.

Tommy's 49 was scored with 7 birdies and 1 bogey, nice shooting. Aaron and Chris each carded 4 birdies and Jim claimed just 1.

Joe recorded first win this season with a 50 and picking up 7 championship points! Aaron and Kyly tied for second with a handicap score of 52. Right behind them was Tommy and Chris with 53 handicapped. Rounding out the leaderboard was Jim, 61 and Cassie 65, handicapped.

Great day for disc golf on the Summer Solstice. Light breeze and LOTS of sun welcomed the 9 disc golfers today. We had 3 cards of 3 golfers which had a good amount of separation between groups.

Before we get into results of the week I'd like to send out some missing persons alerts. PAT! REBECCA! Are you out there? Anybody seen these 2?

Let's congratulate Joe for this weeks win! Joe threw a scratch score of 50 and added 9 championship points. Aaron is back in true form throwing a one under raw score of 54, handicap 52. Jim was 2 over par with 57 and handicap of 54. Tommy was next with a scratch score of 56. Randy, Mike and Alyssa tied with a 57; 60, 67 & 100 respectively. Staci had 106 throws, 58 handicap and Cassie rounded out the field with 83 and 59 handicap.

Ok, let's see who had birdies this week. Joe and Aaron tied with 7. Tommy had 2, just couldn't hit a put. Lastly Jim had 1.

Happy Fathers Day weekend! Saturday was a beautiful day and that showed with the turn out! We had a 3 full cards with 4 golfers on each card and almost half of the golfers were ladies! A special note of appreciation to Cassie, Kyly, Alyssa, Staci and Maxine.

This weeks winner is Chris for back to back wins, consistent low scores have put Chris in the championship lead. Mike finished behind Chris, followed by Jeremy, then Tommy and Randy tied for fourth. Kyly placed 5th and Jim and Cassie tied for 6th. Aaron and Staci rounded out the field for championship points. Alyssa threw her second league round and now has a handicap. Maxine tossed her first round at Freedom Park and is off to San Frrancisco for school.

Birdie Club members for this week: Chris with 6 AND the elusive bogey (sorry Chris, had to mention it). Tommy also had the week high of 6 birdies. Aaron with 3, Jeremy carded 2 and Jim and Mike 1 each.

Happy Saturday everyone! June has arrived and brought the summer heat with it. Today's round started in the high 80's and at the finish we were in the mid 90's. Thanks to everyone who endured the elements.

This week the Blanchard's tied for first, Chris shot a raw (scratch) score of 50. Kyly was on it today, carding her first birdie ever to score a 68 and handicap 50. Way to go Chris and Kyly. Tommy was right on their heels with a raw score of 52, 51 handicap. Jim finished third, 59 and 55 handicap. Randy is in fourth, 60 and 56 handicap. Aaron takes home fifth, 61 and 59 handicap. Cassie rounded out the forked today, 87 and 62 handicap.

Another beautiful morning for league play with a bit of gusty winds on Saturday morning. Those of us throwing for the shade of the trees may not have posted the best scores possible. Guess we will have to brave the elements if we plan on winning a league round.

This weeks winner was Cassie with a raw score of 84 and handicap score of 46 earning 6 championship points. Aaron was solidly in second with scores 56 raw and 47 handicap. Randy was 3rd, 56 & 49, with Chris in 4th, 52 raw and is playing scratch golf. Jeremy and Jim rounded out the scoring field tied at 62 and 56 handicap. Kyly recorded her second league round and established a handicap of 18 and will now compete for league points.

Everyone's most anticipated update of the week, Birdie Club! Chris and Aaron (4), Jeremy (3), Jim (2) and Randy (1).

Lastly for the updated handicaps. As we talked about on Saturday, handicap fairness can be a highly debated topic. As golfers improve their skills their handicap should reflect that as well. After researching how other leagues compute handicaps there were many different ideas with each having pros and cons. After talking about it on Saturday the result is the last 4 rounds scored be used for handicapping. And with that here are the current handicaps: Staci (45), Jesse (28), Cassie (25), Kyly (18), Mike (12), Jeremy (5), Jim & Randy (4), Aaron & Pat (2), Tommy (1) and Joe & Chris are scratch.

The 2014 Sky High Showdown will be held in August with registration opening June 11th at www,discgolfunited.com.

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

The weekly winner for week 2 goes to Cassie, adding 5 championship points. And that was a good thing since Sunday was her birthday. Second place went to Mike. Randy, Tommy and Jim rounded out the championship points earners. Chris threw his second round to establish his handicap but he won't have one. Chris shot the course record 49 on 8 birdies with 2 bogeys scattered in. Great round Chris! We also welcomed Garen, Chris' brother, who shot a 1 down 54.

Week 2 Birdie Club members include Chris (8), Tommy & Garen (4), Randy & Jim (2).

Leaderboard summary has Cassie at the top with Aaron 1 point behind. The 3rd spot has a tie with Jeremy and Mike. Jim, Randy and Pat round out the rest of the field.

The summer league is off to a great start! 8 players for 2 full cards. Welcome Chris, Kyly and Rebeca, first round of handicap establishment is done.

Aaron own week 1 followed by Jeremy, Pat, Jim and Cassie. Birdies were all over one card; Jeremy with 7, Aaron with 6 and put carded 4. Chris had 4 and Jim had 3 birdies. Tommy made a late appearance and birdied 3 out of the 4 holes he played.

Next week is memorial weekend and I'll check with the parks manager for availability of the park for May 24. Hope to see you there.

Summer league will be starting on Saturday, May 17 at 9 am. The league will run 14 weeks ending August 16. At the end of the league, your top 10 rounds based on points earned for handicap scores will ... show more ›

Summer league will be starting on Saturday, May 17 at 9 am. The league will run 14 weeks ending August 16. At the end of the league, your top 10 rounds based on points earned for handicap scores will be used for league standings. Existing handicaps will be adjusted to 80%.

Your weekly points are calculated by awarding 1 point for each player your handicap adjusted score is lower then; for the week; plus 1 for showing up. Example: If you throw a 57 and your handicap is -2, your adjusted score is 55. If 10 people from your division play that week and your adjusted score of 55 is lower then 6 other players (you beat 6 players with your handicap adjusted score) – your points for that week will be 6 plus 1 for showing up – for a total of 7.

The same layout from Pre-Spring league will be used for the summer league. Thank you to everyone that has supported the league with your portable basket.
