I hope everyone sees the fun and values Match Play because it is something you will see in future disc golf events and will need to learn how to adjust your game because of the format.

I would like to run a Match play only league in 2015 and plan to run Match Play Only Tournaments at every course I run leagues at . . . so stay tuned this winter for those plans.

Regardless Match Play really equalizes league play because it forces those that only could attend 5 weeks to prove they have the ability to play against those who play 8 or 9 or even all 10 out of 10 weeks and to do so on a head to head format. It also forces those that may have played 10 weeks to prove they have the ability to stand up against the other good shooters who attend less league rounds but may shoot better scores. Either way . . . I hope Match Play gets embraced and this is only the second league I have tried Match Play for the finals . . . this league seemed to be better received than Valley View. I know those that lost high seeds are disappointed . . . but at the same time it shows that everyone is capable of a win every now and again. Don't get disheartened by the loss . . . just learn from it and move on . . . there will be other chances . . . like in 2015!

Thank you to all 32 of you who came to league this week!!!! That is a Humpday Huckers record . . . I wonder if the High Birdie Club and Ace Pool had anything to do with the turnout. . . . We still have a high Birdie Club even after the 4/5 rules came into play because we cleared $200 in the pot . . . and the Ace Pool has now reached $108, so I expect to see some more people show up next week. I hope to keep that momentum rolling into the Summer/Fall season but we still have 2 weeks of league left, then 2 weeks of Match Play Playoffs for the top 8 competitors in each division who play at least 5 weeks of league.

I am happy to see a steady turnout in the top 3 divisions and there will be people who qualify for the playoffs but might be left out since only the top 8 qualifiers are given a spot in the playoffs . . . so keep racking up those points and do not forget week #10 (July 9th) is DOUBLE POINTS so a lot of ground can be made up if attendance is high and you play well.

BIRDIE CLUB:
Congratulations to Scott Mushall (Pooty), Brad Weber, and Bob Bawden who each hit 4/5 birdies on the Birdie Club Holes (5,6, 7, 8, and 14) each taking home 10% ($22) of the Birdie Club Pool ($220). We are back down to $154 but that might hit $200 again this upcoming week since we are still matching with some of Pete's money from 2013. If the Birdie Club is not cleared out . . . it will simply carry over to the Summer/Fall session.

ACE POOL:
This continues to climb . . . just waiting for someone to take home some cash . . . $139 going into Week #9. If no one hits an ace next week or the following . .. half will be put towards an after league celebration for everyone . . . and the other half will be donated to my "Course Development Fund" which is used to help small projects get the baskets, tees, and signs in the ground that they need to complete their new course installations in SE WI. I am open to ideas on where to spend this money . . . and it isn't necessarily my projects, so if you know of a course project that could use some help . . . please let me know about it and we will be representing the SE WI area with our donations.

Qualification for playoffs . . . YOU MUST PLAY IN AT LEAST 5 WEEKS OF THIS LEAGUE & FINISH IN THE TOP 8 PLAYERS IN THE DIVISION AFTER DROPPING YOUR TWO LOWEST WEEKS (POINTS EARNED).

It looks like Open will be highly contested with 8 people already qualifying with the 5 week minimum. Advanced and Intermediate already have 4 people qualified. Remember with match play . . . anyone can win the whole thing even if you come in with an 8 seed! It's just like March Madness!

If 8 people qualify for a division the people who win their first round will need to play two matches the second week or they an play one of those matches on their own time before July 23rd. If only 4 people qualify for the playoffs, they will all be playing 1 round each week.

The one and only Pete Parsons AKA The Mad Hatter . . . will be attending league this Wednesday barring an unforeseen circumstance . . . that means we will be getting the money for the Ace Pool and the Birdie Club. My plan is to basically do a "Match" of league funds for each week so if $20 goes into the ace pool tomorrow . . . and $44 into the Birdie Club . . . I will match those funds with the money Pete had from 2013 until that money has been completely added to the league. I do not want to throw it all in on one week and reward the person lucky enough to Ace or hit the Birdie Club this week but punish whoever has already aced in this league because the money was not in hand and available.

Let's hope the weather allows us to play tomorrow!!!! I will only cancel the league if I see threatening or continuous rain/storms for the entire duration of league . . . so odds are . . . I will have to make the decision just before league would start. I will post here, The Disc Golf Experience League and Tournament Information page, as well as disc golf scene if I have to make the early call to cancel . . . but odds are I will not cancel until just before 6:00 PM because I do not trust the weathermen much.

No Ace and No Birdie Club was hit this week so the Ace Pool stands at $25 and the Birdie Club at $72.

We played a much tougher course this week, especially considering the wind that was in play . . . some struggled and some succeeded tonight . . .either way . . . it's a 10 week season to get your seeding in your respective division. Then it becomes a mental game where you are playing 1 person only. It won't matter how others are playing . . . only you and your opponent, you both might have personal bests . . . and you both might have personal worsts . . . but it will all be about playing against your opponent. I am already excited for the playoffs and I might be on the outside looking in at this point! I hope you all embrace Match Play because I wholeheartedly believe in it as a competitive format.

Well the results are in . . .Some hot shooting in Open from a few people who were not here last week (4 of the top 5 this week were not here last week) .. . making that division look very competitive this season. I think this will be the last week I remain in 1st place . . . fortunate to have played both weeks and played to the middle of the pack both times to have the most points.

Advanced had 7 people play this week, so anyone who was wanting to get into that division last week is welcome to join since it looks like it will have at least a handful of people most weeks. No pressure either way . . . but if you don't think Open is the right division for you and want to play Advanced . . . that is fine if you aren't shooting (-5 or better) typical open scores.

Intermediate only had 3 players this week and the scores look to be more normal for that division.

Let's hope for some warmer weather next week . . . and I am sure the course will be crowded so we might need to spread out more in coming weeks, especially as UWM wraps up its classes.
