The SADGC will host its first ever open meeting December 8th. Everyone is invited to discuss 2015 plans, voice opinions, participate in a survey, enjoy beverages, meet with friends, and practice some putting (indoors of course). Here are the details:

Date: December 8th, 2014
Time: 6pm
Location: Saugatuck Brewing Company (2948 Blue Star Hwy, Douglas, MI 49406)

As you know, tomorrow we will be holding the 2014 year end Hi/Lo Doubles tournament. Payouts and division ranks are shown below. The lowest handicap person in each division will play with the highest handicap in their division, 2nd lowest plays with 2nd highest, etc.

The fine print:
Handicap tie-breakers were determined by previous week's low handicaps. Divisions are based off of Divisional #3 (no movement). Handicaps=Year End.

Please check-in at Shore Acres before 5:15. Tee-off will occur at 5:30 with league awards following the round.

The closest race was in division 1 where Travis squeaked out a last second victory over Zach, winning by 3 hundredths of a stroke! I'm pretty sure that 0.03 of a stroke was one of Travis' famous good luck kicks. I would like to point out that I lost by virtue of my own scoring setup (I beat Travis in a straight average :).. That is a happy/tears smiley). Dennis DeBoer bumped divisions by means of handicap, but was able to stay atop the D2's in scoring and Edin Besic lapped the field by nearly 2 strokes in D3 making a case for D2 next year. Payouts for the scoring race winners will be paid on 9/9. Congratulations!

It's our last regular week of league with next week being our last divisional tournament. There were some hot scores out there! We haven't seen an adjusted score this low since Week #3. John Busscher edged Dirk Kuipers by 0.7 strokes to nab top spot...the next closest person, 3 strokes away from Dirk.

Now for some official business, there will be a strict 5:30pm tee off for next week's divisional and Hi/Lo doubles on 9/9. Please report to the table PRIOR TO 5:15pm. Prizes will be awarded after divisional #3 and Hi/Lo, you must be present to claim your prize(s)!

You've probably been wondering about year-end payouts that will occur on 9/9, well I have some news for you. We will be paying out top 10 points finishers, top 3 in each division for the scoring race, and of course our Hi/Lo winners after the event. Oh yeah, there will be some other exciting, random categories in which you could win! Stay tuned!

Week #16 marks the first week of potential dropping of lowest point totals...let me explain. In the rules for this year, it states that points will consist of a players best point totals for 15 weeks. That means that if you played every week this year, you'd drop 3 rounds. If you missed 1 week, you'd drop 2 rounds, etc. If you played less than 15 weeks, your point total will consist of all rounds played with no points dropping.

Now for the interesting part, the leaderboard will be fluctuating more in weeks 16-18 as players scores adjust to the top 15 scores. Keep an eye out to see who claims the top spot!

We had quite the battle at the top of the adjusted score leaderboard with 4 players scoring between 47 and 48. Stephen Nottingham posted his best score of the year to edge out Craig Pluger by half a stroke. The analogy of the night: If league hot rounds were like the classic video game NBA Jam, the voice of Dick Vitale would be saying about Zachary Vaughn - "He's on Fire!". Zach takes the hot round tonight completing the turkey of hot rounds the last 3 weeks. Lucky for everyone else, he'll be absent in week #15. As for CTPs, Chris Wabeke cleaned up winning arguably the best two CTPs back to back. The park-job on 14 must have been a thing of beauty to watch.

We had our first 3 way tie for hot round yesterday and had a first time best adjusted score winner as well. There is some jostling atop the points standing with Josh VanOrder and Chris Wabeke leading the way. Both played on the same card this Tuesday and strangely, Josh ended up with a wrong score...was it poor addition on Josh's part or was someone (Chris!) trying to give him more strokes in an effort to overtake #1? Drama at Shore Acres!
In other drama, someone has taken a time machine back to 1985 and stolen Travis Prueter's Mojo. My guess is that it's either Fat Bastard, Michael J Fox, or Todd Tracy (he said that he was in Europe, but maybe he knows Doc Brown and borrowed the Delorean). Travis' first 10 weeks average - 51.4, the last 3 weeks average - 54.

- Hi-Low Doubles qualification rules - In order to qualify for Hi-Low doubles on 9.9.14, you must have paid early bird membership dues or, being a weekly member, played in a minimum of 60% league rounds (11 weeks).
- We have a large number of leftover Shore Acres Open stamped Prodigy discs. They will be made available for purchase tonight at league with a cost of $15 for league members and $17 for non-league members.

Hopefully you didn't get stuck on I-196 on your way to SA tonight. I waited in a dead standstill for 20 minutes before breaking traffic laws and heading down the wrong way of a oneway ramp to escape the parking lot.

Speaking of parking lot, Drew VanderWege likely wanted to escape TO the parking lot and leave after posting his worst round of the year. That means that everyone below him in the points standings will be gaining on him this week. The good news is that his round will eventually be dropped for points assuming it is one of his 3 lowest point weeks (he also won the 50/50 - $40 - not bad for a night's work).

I am waiting to post the scores, points, averages, and handicaps as I'm pretty sure that I'm missing a scorecard. I will get things posted, hopefully tomorrow, when I track down the scores. In the meantime, here are the results I have:

It was another misty evening with fog rolling over the hills. Fog must have filled Verald's head as he added up his score. He signed for a 72, 5 strokes higher than his actual score of 67. Maybe he was trying to give away his best adjusted round? Another rare feat occurred as Travis Prueter set a new Black Pin course record of 49, besting the previous record of 52 by 3 strokes. As most of you know, the SADGC is hosting their first sanctioned event - Shore Acres Open - this year on July 12th. Registration is starting to pick up and the tournament is about half full. If you plan to play in the event I would recommend heading over to the tournament page here on Disc Golf Scene and post your name, PDGA # (if applicable), and division. Week 6 marks our first divisional tournament. 3 divisions will be assigned to provide additional competition with the best 4 individual scores per divisions awarded prizes. Division assignments will be posted here upon conclusion of week 5's results. Handicaps less than 5 will be included in division 1, handicaps 5 through 11.9 will be division 2, and handicaps 12 and higher will comprise division 3. Please plan on arriving prior to 5:15pm as tee off will be at approximately 5:30pm upon conclusion of a short player's meeting.

Scoring Average Rules
To ensure fare competition within the scoring average race, the following rules apply.
- You must play a minimum of 3 weeks from the black pins.
- Your average will be weighted to account for equal parts of the yellow pins vs black pins.
Scoring example:
Your average from the yellow pins is 58 and your average from the black pins is 62. Your average will be computed as follows:
58 (yellow pin avg) x 2 = 116
116 + 62 (black pin avg) = 178
178 / 3 = 59.33 scoring average for the year
