About this league
Fee to join $35
Fee per round $5
Here's a run down of the league for 2014:
- There are two membership options:
1)$90 one time "Earlybird" fee**(see details below)
2)$35 member fee + $5 each league day attended
- Early-bird signups are available starting March 25th and will run until April 29th. $90 to join which is a deal compared to $125 if you were to pay each league round.
- Non-members can pay $5 and play for all CTPs and half of the ace pool.
- Unofficial league rounds will start on April 1st and run each Tuesday of April.
- Official league rounds start May 6th and run through September 2nd. High-Low doubles will be on September 9th.
- Ace Pool will be capped at $200 once it reaches that threshold.
- Divisional tournaments will be held 6/10 (yellow), 7/22 (Black), and 9/2 (Yellow)
- To qualify for divisionals, you must have played in at least 3 league rounds during that trimester.
- Hi-Low Doubles qualification rules - In order to qualify for Hi-Low doubles on 9.9.14, you must have paid early bird membership dues or, being a weekly member, played in a minimum of 60% league rounds (11 weeks).
POINTS EXPLAINED:
A new handicap system will be in place for 2014 which means you, even YOU can beat the Pros. There are two ways to win at season's end = top gross scoring average and top point earners. Points will be computed using handicaps and adjusted score. Here's a brief rundown on Points:
Each week of league, you will have an updated handicap provided as a membership privilege. At the close of each league week, we will send the scores to our mathematical elves who work for us behind the scenes. The elves will run some calculations and give each player a revised handicap each and every week. Your most recent handicap will be used each week for your adjusted score.
To start the season, each returning member from 2013 will have a handicap for the first week they play. Those who are new for 2014 will have an official handicap after 2 weeks of play. It is preferred that new members set their handicap during April's preseason though it is not required.
So let's go over a scenerio: Ben Flymo is a returning member from 2013. The elves have computed his handicap index as 6.2. During the first week of league, he shoots a 62. Ben finished 3rd grade so he knows that subtracting 6.2 from 62 will give him 55.8. Obviously, you can't have a decimal score, so you have to round. .5 and above rounds up and .4 and below rounds down. So...56 is his adjusted score for the week. The elves will run this simple math across all players that week and order the adjusted scores from lowest to highest. Let's say that 35 players played that week. The best adjusted score for the week gets 35 points, 1 point for each person they beat. Ben finished 10th, so he will obtain 25 points for the week.
We will drop the worst 3 point totals from each player...so...if you miss a week or two, no harm done. If you play every week, it's an advantage to you as you will have your worst points dropped equaling more points for you!
If you'd like to know more about how our elves compute your handicap, send a message to Zach Vaughn or find him during a league night. He's the boss of the elves and knows best how they compute all of the handicaps.
