Hi Everyone,

First, I apologize for the 5x email blast last week. I got a server error when posting the news and tried to refresh the page, which turned out to be a bad idea...

The 2013 league site is now up and running and will be used for all league news and communication going forward:

If you haven't yet shown up for a 2013 league day and would like to be added to the 2013 league list so you can receive emails, please let me know, or even better, show up for the next league round!

Speaking of the next league round, we are organizing a Tee Pad Improvement Work Session this coming Sunday 4/28 @ 8:30am, right before the normal Sunday league start. We will initially target some of the most needy tee boxes, tackling some root removal and dirt leveling activities among other things. Those interested in lending a hand are encouraged to bring some work gloves and any tools they have that may be of assistance, such as metals rakes, hoes, shovels, loppers, work gloves, etc.

Hey Everyone,

Just a reminder that the official start day for the 2013 Pelham disc golf league is this weekend -- Sunday, 4/21 at 10:00 am at Muldoon park.

Tuesdays rounds are also starting up next week, 4/23 at 5:30pm.

The 2013 tags will cost $10 and will be available for sale on Sunday and Tuesday.

Spread the word and please come out to help make the league kickoff a success! Looking forward to another great year!

As Marty has so kindly noted below, i am in touch with Brian at Pelham Parks and Rec. As of today he has prisoners scheduled to work for him the week of the 18th. I can communicate some of our desired improvements to him and he can have the jailbirds do the labor for us. I assume this works for most of you since no one besides Marty came prepared on our last 'work day'. (yes yes i was a slacker too)

Sooooo, as it turns out I will be at league this Sunday and i will be taking notes and pictures of said improvements and relaying them to Brian. If anyone wants a say in what happens i would suggest coming this Sunday or forever hold your peace. He is having bark mulch spread on the fairways, but if said mulch has not been purchased than i will try and have him buy the pea stone instead. Pelham is my secondary obligation after the course i am building/designing in Wilton, so if any of you slack jawed fa@%ots can handle a small amount of responsibility and help me deal with Pelham i would appreciate it.

Great summer so far.....decent weather, plenty of ticks to go around, some aces, low rounds (not me), lots of fun.

I wanted to say thanks for all the help from everyone on making this league a reality. Specifically, there has been mucho help from Mark Holt, Vijay Kakkad, Randy Streeter and Dan Murphy. These are not the only guys, but I didn't want to list everybody in the league.

TeePads
Mark Holt is working with Parks and Rec to hopefully get some stone to make the tee pads level. More info to follow, but be sure to blame Mark if this doesn't happen. In the short-term, please volunteer your time to bring a rake with you if possible, pick a hole, and level the tee pad (Mat Ladroga has dibs on 17). If anyone wants to borrow my rake/shovel, let me know (I will also bring them this Sunday). I leveled 1 and 16 last weekend (yes, the closest ones).

Other Improvements
We are trying to move the tee of 15 to prevent the x-ing fairways with 16. The short-term plan is to move the tee over to close to where the 18th tee was before being moved back 30'. I cut a small shoot through there on Sunday, but if anyone has time when playing to help haul the mess I made into the woods or has a pole saw to trim back the branches, go to it.

If anyone has ideas on how to make the league better or wants to head-up running a work party or CTP/ACE pot etc., please shoot me an email.

To try and streamline the process of getting work done on the course we will have 'work days' on the same day as league meetings. Projects will be discussed and assigned during the meeting and work will begin directly after meeting. Since work days will be once a month it gives everyone a chance to help improve our course.

Final 2012 Tag League Rules

So price is $10 for a tag. This goes to paying for tags and end of year trophies.

How do you win a trophy you ask?

If you show up for a round, you get 10 pts.
Top 3 each round get extra points, 3 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 1st etc.
Top 3 end of year pts get a trophy

Top 3 tags (minimum of 10 rounds played) at the end of the year also get a trophy.

Really this league is about getting out there, having fun, and throwing low rounds.

There is talk of mixed doubles rounds once every one-two months. These dates to be announced later. I'll keep you posted.

Randy Streeter is running an Ace Pot. $1 / round.

The Dreaded Buy-Back
Last year, about 10 of the top 20 tags were dead by half way through the summer. In an attempt at motivation, there is a minimum participation rule.
You need to play once a month or you sacrifice your tag and it's $5 to buy back in. So if you play a Sunday round, you have the next 4 Tuesdays and next 4 Sundays to show up, or else....

Its a tedious job and noone is ever there every day so its hard to keep track. Ill help in any way i can, but we need to communicate so we can be on top of it.
