We had a great day for the 2012 ADGO bag tag finals @ Redan. 28 disc golfers gathered to temps in the upper 50’s. The day-long cloud cover kept temps very pleasant. We did not have any rain until very close to the end of the Finals round.

As normal, brackets were set up for the Match format games. We paid out the top 4 spots in both the A & B pools. Payout was as follows:
A Pool ($520 total)
1st - $250
2nd - $150
3rd - $80
4th - $40
B pool ($195 total = $130 base + $65 added from 13 person paying the $5 buy-in)
1st - $94
2nd – $57
3rd – $29
4th - $15

We had a small change of rules from previous years. This year we did allow player’s who had 1st round byes, to buy into the B pool if they lost their 1st round match.

In the 9 hole match for 3rd & 4th in the B pool Miles Long (#35) took 3rd place and the #34 tag by defeating J.K. (#34).
In the A pool myself (#7) and Mark Spaugh (#8) opted to split 3rd & 4th cash.

Both 18 hole finals matches (A & B pool) were very close. I walked the final 9 holes with them.
In the B pool, Brad Traylor (#28) played Jason O’Herron (#32). Jason had a 2 hole lead starting the back 9. Brad brought it back to even by the time they reached hole #13.
Brad matched Jason with birdies on #14 & #16, but strong side-arm drives by Jason on
13, 15, & 17 closed out the match with 1 hole left to play.

In the A pool (Jay Norman (#1) and Josh Henley (#5) were having an even closed match.
Jay was leading by 1 hole after 9 (Josh taking holes 3, 7, & 8; with Jay taking holes 4, 5,
6, & 9). Josh tied it back up on hole 10. Jay took 11 & 13 to go up by 2. Josh tied it
again taking holes 15 & 17.
A light mist started as they walked to hole 18. A push on 18 sent them to hole 3 for
sudden death. Both had drives within approx 30 feet of the basket. Josh’s putt hit the
right side of the chains and kicked out. Jay’s putt hit dead center of the chains right
above the basket and stayed in for the win.
Congratulations to Jay Norman, who took home the #1 tag, but also the $250 cash prize.

My thanks to everyone who participated in the 2012 ADGO bag tag league.

2013’s league will be starting up in late January or early February. I am planning to
order 100 tags for 2013.

The 2012 ADGO Bag Tag finals will be held Saturday Dec 8th at Redan Park. It will be match play. You must have your ADGO Bag Tag with you to play.

Sign In 8:45AM-9:30AM Please do not be late. I’ve got to set up the brackets.
Depending on attendance, there may be some people who have a 1st round buy. I will not be able to determine this, until 9:30AM.

You must have your 2012 ADGO bag tag with you to play in this event. I will need to view it to verify the tag# you have.

Bring something with you to eat. We will be moving as quickly as possible from round to round. There will not be time to “run to Subway”.

All 2012 ADGO bag tags are sold. There will not be day of signups. You cannot use the tag bag of someone who is unable to attend.

General OB rules
2 meter rule is not in effect.
Surrounded by water is OB.
Football field behind hole #3 basket and on the right by hole #4 is OB. This means inside the chain link fence.
Over the residential fences on holes 6, 12, 13, 14, 17 are OB. Do not retrieve your disc during your match.

1st round to start as soon as the brackets are set up and I can get everything rolling

Seeded brackets will be set up based on your current bag tag#. Generally the lowest tag will play highest tag, second lowest tag will play second highest tag, etc.

Each round is 9 holes of match play, except the finals. Finals for both A & B brackets will be 18 hole match play.
Once a player has won more holes, than there are holes remaining, the match is over. (e.g. If Player A has already won 4 holes with 3 holes remaining to be played, the match is over)

Do not turn in your tag when you arrive. Each match you play will be a match between yourself and your opponent. At the end of the challenge, swap bag tags (if applicable). It is the responsibility of the person who won the match to come report the results to me. I will need to verify each person’s bag tag# and the score (e.g. Player A – 4 holes; Player B – 3 holes).

Players who lose in the first round (or a play-in round) will have the opportunity to play in the B bracket. There will be a $5 additional charge per player, but this is added to the payout for this bracket.Body of the post

OB: Paved road (and beyond) of any type. Disc must be surrounded by road. This can come into play on many holes that are not necessarily not listed below.
Hole 3 - In the lake to the left (the dirt road by the lake is inbounds)
Hole 4 - Surrounded by water
Hole 6 - Beyond the wooden fencing (a straight line from the front edge of the vertical posts)
Hole 9 - Inside the recreational park (on the right) or the batting cages (on the left). On top of batting cage.
Hole 18 - Inside the restroom

2012 - 2nd ADGO Bag Tag Challenge - March 31 @ J.P.Moseley Park

The second challenge match for this year will be at J.P.Moseley. We didn’t get to have a challenge match at any of the south-side courses last year and this course certainly provides a challenge.
The match will be one round of 18 holes. All players will tee from the same tee pads.
Sign up will be 9AM - 9:45AM. The round will start as close to 10AM as possible.

I am seeing numerous incidents of people not posting bag tag matches on discgolfscene.com.
I choose to use discgolfscene.com because it is an easy way to keep scores and tags updated. But you have to go to the site and enter the match or tag update.

I have scores from GSSS#2 that I cannot update, because users at the tournament turned in a different tag than discgolfscene shows they have.
I will need to track people down to determine what tag# they are carrying.
So some of you will get a second email from me.

If you have scores from this weekend (or previously) that you have not entered on discgolfscene, please go out there and enter them asap.
