Ok guys...I know I've sucked at keeping the info coming on this thing. I'm homeless though, so give me a break!

The short version: Adair County Park, Saturday, February18, 9:30 am sign up, 10:00 tee off for first round.

The slightly more informative version: The day is free for anyone who joined up in the beginning. Everyone who shows up will be playing one round, some of us will be playing a second round. Here's the breakdown.

1. 10am tee off for Stroke Play Challenge. We will play one 18 hole Stroke Play round. The top 13 tag numbers after that round will move on the the final round. There will also be 3 wild card players from the higher numbered tags that will qualify for the final round.

2. Final round will be a single elimination, Match Play round. ALL 16 players will get payed out according to how they finish.

3. The WORST players after the Stroke Play round (number depending on how many of us show up) will play a short stroke play round for a PRACTICE BASKET! You know, so they can practice and get better for next year...

I tallied the remaining league cash and we've got about $400 left. That's pretty sweet! Also, there will be Awesome Calapooia Beer CTPs and some sweet plastic to give away.

Come on out on Saturday (or don't and the few who do will get more of your cash!) I don't think it will be a whole day affair. I see us finishing around 2pm if all goes well.

That...was...AWESOME! Congrats to the victors. A couple folks ran off with the wrong tags, so let's trade and get 'em right. I've updated the list. If you played in the President's cup, the number listed here is correct. Please help your internet challenged friends so we all get the correct tags. I have three left-overs in my car:

#31-Mike Key
#35-Hoops (Has #27, which should by Bryan's)
#39-Doug Ulfers (Has Banner's #40)

Also, I am sitting down this evening to put together some dates for us to vote on for our Bag Tag Finale. I know league play has dwindled some, as has tag reporting. That's OK, but let's shoot this dying horse and make some freakin glue!

I have about $400 left in the league coffers. $200 will go to top 10 tags at the end of the finale, $200 will go toward a sweet practice basket that will be in play for a select number of the WORST tags coming in to the finale (Remember rule number #, you crafty ones. Don't be baggin' for a basket now!)

Another twist for the Finale: We will be playing one standard, stroke play round to determine an initial order of tags. In that round, you will play for tags 1,10,20,30,and 40. (For example, if you have tag 40-49 coming in, you will play for the 40 tag, 30-39 will play for the 30 tag, etc.) So essentially, 10,20,30,and 40 will be wild cards for the final round (Again, no bagging, rule number 1, God of Disc Golf will hate you forever, etc)

The final round will then be a single elimination Match play round involving #1 - #13, #20, #30, #40, after the stroke play round. (This is to make 16 final players, which will make the Match play bracket run smoothly--(see poor Dave's bracket woes from the first match play tourney).

Look for a Doodle Poll soon, once I get some dates figured out. I will probably use the most popular date, but realize that some folks don't use internet regularly, so I'm going to use several methods (including texting votes) to figure out a date that will work for the most people. Obviously, someone is going to have prior obligations that will conflict, but we will do our best.

I promise I'm going to nail down a date for the finale, I'm hoping by the President's Cup...I swear, this isn't going to be like the carrot on an ever lengthening stick that is the Banner/Gibson Barbeque heehee! How much money do we have for that thing now, Banner, $20,000?

Anyway, I'll take this opportunity to say that the Bag Tag League has been a hell of a lot of fun for me this year. I'm looking forward to doing some new things with next year's league. Now let's nail down a date, and spend the rest of this damn $$$.

BTW...Calapooia Brewing is going to shower us with a couple varieties of their new bottled beers for the finale!!! WOOHOO. Yay 'Pooia Broowia!

I've been talking with a few guys about getting together tomorrow morning (Sat. 11/19) for a tag round. Might be in the snow, from what I hear!

Let's make it 9 am, Adair. $5 buy in, winner takes 80%, random draw tag takes 20%.

Also, we'll have a chance to discuss possible dates for the bag tag finale. Someone suggested winter solstice with a glow round after the match play round. BRRRRR! That might be fun though. I really want to nail something down soon.

Also,also: I'm starting to look at next year's tag design. Any ideas? Everyone like the nested minis this year? Anyone have ideas for graphics? Sponsors we should consider this year besides Calapooia Brewing? Post on the TALK section of our bag tag league if you have ideas for me...

Anyway, time for another bag tag challenge. We're going to do it this coming week. I'm excited about this one! Gonna be a little SAFARI round at Willamette! Let's hope for rain. (fewer people in the park = big, nasty safari holes!) I'll get you guys the layout soon. Meanwhile, let's bet busy and pick a date. I figure with Gaddafi 6 feet under, there's room for a little autocracy in the world. We're playing for tags on Saturday at 5:00 PM at Willamette. I've spent $60 in League cash on some kickass merch as pictured below. If only 10 of us show up for it, so be it. I know I will be there, and I'm bringing some game! Well, Firstly, John Bain shot a respectable 48 and walked off with the Legacy Rampage.

Andrew Downey parked one next to Hole 16 for the CTP and took home a delicious Galactic IPA as well as a Mini Driver.

Nick Marshall sandbagged his way to keeping his old tag, #38, which just happened to be the random draw tag for the Mercury ROC. Hmmmmm...and he's a math whiz...suspicious!

Doc Bryce took home a Calapooia mini for the burden of shouldering the #43 tag.

All in all, GREAT SUCCESS! Good times...

A brand new, cobalt colored, Legacy Rampage (speed 14 driver) is up for grabs this week.
We'll play a straight up, stroke play round. Lowest tag number at the end gets the Rampage.

There will also be a randomly drawn tag that will win a beautiful custom stamped ROC.

But wait, there's more! A CTP on hole #16 will win a Mini Driver and a great big delicious beer. (Must be over twenty-one to redeem, or bring father and his generously round beer gut.)

Alright, I thought I would try out the Doodle scheduling thing that Lonnie clued me into. We'll give it a try for scheduling of the next challenge. Thanks to everyone who came out for the Mob Challenge. Most of all, thanks to Nate S. for putting up the #1 tag against almost insurmountable odds. We DID pay him $5 for his sponsorship of the #1 tag.

Roy Albert walked off with #1 along with $30. He shot a very respectable 48 which adjusted to 39 with his 9 stroke purchased handicap. Ross Lockhart, with his silly -12 handicap, wins the philanthropy award. He shot a decent 51, adjusting to 39 to tie Roy (Since Roy came in with the lower tag, he won---I hear Roy is buying Ross a couple frothy beverages as a nod) Nate S. (with NO handicap was only four strokes off!) Great shooting from Nate and Dion, both shooting 43 (Dion purchased 2 strokes). I just wish I could have "bought a putt". Maybe I wouldn't be holding the #36 right now!

That was a lot of fun! Thanks to everyone who came out on short notice.

We're going to do it again in mid October. I'll give you all more notice for the next one.

Sorry, I've been slackin lately on the bag tag league. Time to fire up some challenges! Tonight should be a fun one. Nate Sexton has kindly agreed to be MOBBED! Dogpile on Nate!

Here's the deal: 1. Meet at Willamette between 5:15 and 5:30 tonight. Bring all your $1 bills and change.
2. Bring me your bag tag and we'll calculate your available handicap points.
Simple math will get you points based on your incoming number. Ex: if you have #33, you will have 9
available handicap points. Here's the catch: They will each cost you a dollar!
3. We play a regular stroke play round, and you subtract the number of handicap points you purchased from your
final score.
4. The tags will be passed out by adjusted score. (I know, this is going to shake things up!)
5. Whoever gets the #1 tag will get a nice wad of the handicap cash and some sexy plastic
6. We'll donate a percentage of the handicap cash to the Mike Storrs tractor fund.

Come on out and bring those high tag numbers! Anyone could take the whole shebang!

Don't worry about losing your precious low tag number. I'm not doing any kind of payout for a couple months. I've worked my way down from the 30s and 40s several times now. It's really fun!

I was talking to Karl today about ideas for when to wrap up the bag tag challenge for this year. I'm thinking about mid November unless anyone has a better idea. My birthday is Nov. 15, so I think my wife would give me some wiggle room if I did a big blowout on Sat, Nov. 19. That's MY first pick. Let's get a discussion going over on the Talk section under the league. I want to have some sort of daylight round that will decide the final standings and payouts, a barbeque, and then a really badass glow round to follow. We've still got some cash in the league bank, so I'm going to have some good payouts between now and then, but I'd like to do the finale up right.

Let me know what you all think. I'd like to get as many of us out as possible for the finale, obviously, so I'm planning it way ahead. Help me out. Any sporting events, etc that will conflict? I know the disc golf calendar is pretty blank for that weekend. Let's get some ideas going.

I don't know about you guys, but it gave me a thrill to see Dion and Nate post their tag scores for worlds. They finished in 21st and 27th place respectively in a Pro field of 176. Dion took over #1 and Nate took #5. How cool is it that they are both in the top 30 IN THE WORLD??!!!!!??? They are OUR pros, in OUR bag tag league. I'm just as proud as can be.

Thanks to everyone who showed up for the challenge at Adair tonight. Too bad I ended up with #43...I'll be working my way down this week! The guy who brought #43 tonight (Ryan Hopson) took home a beautiful Hawaiian Girl stamped DX Aviar on the random draw (AHEM...all you high tag holders who don't show up for challenges) Awesome putter (I tried it, it rocks!). Andrew Downey had the hot round in the wind with a 50, took the #3 tag, and a nice piece of Star Plastic. (Props to Andrew...he gave up his first choice to Ryan, who was clearly in love with the hawaiian girl already)

We had "dad's famous mac and cheese", kosher hot dog joy, and some serious golfing. Also we had homeless dudes pooping during our putts, plus I got naked and went into toxic waste ponds for discs...twice. Guess who got pissed off and acted like a bit of a douche. Mike Key, you say? No, he was a perfect gentleman. It was Hoops, but we love him anyway. Thanks for coming out, James...epic evening!

The BEST ones (aside from the mounted LED type) that you can tape to your disc are the ones you can get at Bimart (or GLBTmart, as I like to call it). They are the tiny LED lights that look like lite-brite light replacements. They are metal cylinders with a plastic tip, super bright, and can usually be used again...expensive though ($4 a piece or so).

Or you can just plan on winning the tag dump at 6pm and getting a sweet LED setup and new disc.....

OK...I've done pretty much everything I wanted to do while my wife is away (nothing that I'll spend any time in hell for), EXCEPT for a glow round! I never get to stay out that late when the crew is here. I've been playing too much disc golf this week (yes, there IS such a thing as I'm sure you're all aware), and my back feels terrible, but this really needs to happen before my wife and kids come home!

SO, I'm going to get some sexy plastic and other prizes tomorrow AM. Then I'll come home, take some Ibuprofen and sit on the sofa not playing disc golf. In the pm, when it's getting cooler and my back feels less like a truck ran over it, we'll head out to Timber Linn. I figured we could warm up for the Albany Club Monthly on Sat. Here's what I had in mind:

1) 6pm tag dump.
2) Dinner. (Hot Dogs, My Famous Mac and Cheese, and whatever else potluck style, guess.)
3) Glow Round.

Now, let me know if you think you're going to come out via email or text. I know at least 5 of us are committed already. I need to know if I should bring one or two pans of my famous mac and cheese.

2) Bag Tag Throwdown at Adair (you will get SOME points based on the tag you bring in, so work your way down the next two days....I currently hold #42, so have NO advantage there)
3) Bag Tag Glow round. No wife, No curfew! Time for some glowy madness.

We'll tag dump, and low tag (from raw score), will get first choice of the two discs I'm bringing out. The high numbered tag gets the other. Talk about a bagger challenge!

By the way, I'm really stoked that we have some new members from the Wash! Just for clarity, make sure you read rule #2 again...you MUST have your bag tag on you to participate in a challenge. A couple things. First, Mike Storrs is suggesting that he's going to shut down Bryant Handicaps if <12 guys show up this week. That would be a shame, I think. In my opinion, Bryant is the most challenging/interesting course in the area right now. Several of the Albany crew have done some serious work out there, and the fairways are really reasonable. I plan to do some grooming next week as well. It's great to have a course that really challenges you to make precision shots. I think it's an interesting course for handicaps too, because it forces you to play conservative, safe shots (which is what wins handicap rounds if you've noticed). Come out and support handicaps at Bryant on Thursday! (5:45 pm)

Also, We need to get that #1 tag back from Jesse. He's had it long enough. I'm throwing down with a Mob Challenge with a bounty (Some sexy plastic) on Jesse if he retains the tag through Thursday.

I'm really stoked that we're all updating our tag numbers pretty religiously. I've noticed that some folks post tag updates after scoring a round. If someone in your group has scored the round here, the system automatically updates the tag numbers for you. You might not see the updated tag number immediately because I have to approve the round first. I usually do that within minutes if I have my phone on me. It's no big deal for me though, I just delete or deny any redundant entries. I'm just happy that the tag numbers are pretty much staying up to date.

Well, I guess I'm ready. I'm ironing out the details for the bracket system for the match play tourney. I've never done this, so it might be really interesting. Bear with me tomorrow. Since I'm playing in the dang thing, I need a couple of you to run the board for me when I'm out competing. We'll figure it out.

I'm stoked! I'm getting some food together for after the tourney. I will bring charcoal/lighter fluid. Bring your own meats. I'm also bringing a couple pans of my famous mac and cheese.

Ok guys, here's the deal:

Willamette Park, 5:45 pm today, tag dump. But wait, there's more!

Mike Key had the idea to do a $5 buy in with cash payout. He's feeling invincible and wants to take your cash! That sounds cool to me, but I'm going to twist it on him to get more guys out.

1) $5 to play. Lowest tag will get MOST of the cash, Highest tag will get paid SOME.
2) Tag dump with a twist: If you have #30 or higher, you get a handicap based on your #.
If you are better than your tag number at the moment, you can "man up" and opt out of the handicap...(ahem Nate G)
3) Top 3 players (lowest 3 tags) will get a beer/food voucher from Calapooia.

Hey Guys, I'm really stoked. The bag tags have arrived! They look decent. The printed putters from Gateway look great. I'm going to be running the initial Match Play playoff for the order of the tags in the next couple weeks. It's going to be impossible to pick a time that fits everyone's schedule, especially with all the upcoming tournaments. I'll do my best. Any input is appreciated, but I'm going to just have to make an executive decision at some point. Briefly here's what you'll get for your $20: 1) Nested mini set (the tag) 2)A nicely printed Gateway putter (Wiz, War, Vood, etc.) 3) 2 Calapooia sponsored parties (the beer alone is worth your entry fee) 4)$800 worth of payouts/CTPs/etc. (I will have a payout halfway through, like in August, and one larger one after the final match play tournament in the fall).

I've got 50 tags and hope to get them all out there. If we run out, we could order more. Understand this is my first go at this, so I'll do my best to run a tight ship. I'll be posting rules for the league soon, and I'll let you all know when we're going to do the first match play tourney.

Wow! What an awesome weekend. I had a great time! Nate S. took first for the pros (did we ever question him?) securing the #2 tag and a badass piece of glow plastic. I took down the Advanced field, taking #3 and a nice Echo Star Destroyer (I told you I'd get my money back, one disc at a time if I have to!) Kelly dominated the Pro Masters (He was the only one with a tag). Dr. Bryce also won a nice new disc by default as the only GM tag holder. The intermediate men were shepherded by Nate G. who ended up with the #9 tag and a sweet new disc as well.

All in all, a successful first tag dump! We also sold 5 more tags bringing us up to a total of 37. That rocks! Pass the word on to anyone who's been talking about joining. We're running out, and I'm not going to order any more this year. I might have to plan on a bigger field for next year. Thanks to Mark and Paul at Calapooia, for everything (notice those boys are also a part of our bag tag crew now)!

Jesse has been cuddling up to that #1 tag for quite some time now. It's his pretty little pet. And he loves it, and he strokes it....it's naughty! It needs to be on someone else's bag within the week or I swear, I'll get crazy!!!

Notice that I reserve the right to "bend" the rules occasionally for throwdowns. For example, if one person is sitting on the #1 tag for a long time, I may initiate a Mob Challenge where everyone has a chance in a single round to take out the #1 tag holder. Heck, I might even give him/her a little handicap! Don't worry, I won't do this right before a big payout or anything. You'll have a chance to work your way down again before it matters. I won't do this often. If anyone sees a way that the bending of the rules favors me somehow, call me out. That will never be my intent.

Let's get ready to RUMBLE!

Hey, thanks again to everyone who showed up for the first match play tourney of the Willamette Valley Bag Tag Challenge 2011!!!

I know I had a really good time out there. Now I just have to get rid of this #12 tag. Sorry Hooper, but your bum ankle is calling to me. Plus Jesse could refuse my challenge and Skinny, well, he's just not easy for me to beat...

I wanted to let you all know about "Billy's Bag Tag Throwdowns". Every other week or so, I'm going to post a challenge here. It might be a tag dump at one of the courses, or a bounty on a pro (or someone else who's been holding the #1 tag too long!), or a mini (much shorter, single elimination) version of what we did on Sunday with the match play. There will be prizes for winning throwdowns. Not everyone is on discgolfscene yet, so I'm trying to figure out how to work that...It may be a good incentive to get on here, but I want to be fair. I might do group texting or something like that.

Hey guys! I'm kind of missing the league, but taking a break here. I would like to have a tally of how many of you would purchase tags for this year if I run it again. I'm getting some art work together, putting together a player's pack, and working on some new formats that I think will make it even more fun next year.

Also, Mike G. asked me to post on here to let you all know that Sunday Dubs tomorrow, 3-25, will be a practice for next weeks April Fools Dubs. Nate has given us the layout/format (but do you trust him not to make us all "April Fools"???hmmmm.) Anyway, it should be a fun round. Gibson has promised that if he doesn't make it totally random, he will at least play uphill for once! gotcha mike.
