Love this course. I've always said that disc golf should imitate ball golf and being on a golf course does exactly that. The holes have obstacles, elevation changes and OB to keep things challenging, but none of the holes I would deem as impossible like some other more heavily wooded courses. All the baskets are top of the line and in good shape, especially with the South course having the MVP baskets.

Everything is manicured and beautiful, grounds are super clean with trash cans and a few spots to grab water. When you first arrive you pay at the clubhouse where you will find they have beverages, food, apparel, and even discs that you can buy. Golf carts are available which make for a great experience. What more could you want?

Pine Hills is one of the best disc golf experiences in the state of Michigan. No doubt there are better courses, but are there better courses with a pro shop and carts? Playing disc golf on a golf course, with its beautifully groomed and watered fairways, and the beverage cart lady, and golf carts -- did I mention golf carts? -- is a unique experience. It is worth the drive and the money to play these courses. Call in advance for a tee time and to make sure they are running carts on the day you want to play. Their phone number is on Facebook if it is not somewhere around here.

We took carts and still took over 5 hours for one of the courses. The second course did go faster. Ball golfers have the right of way. I paid too but they get the right of way and most of them seemed annoyed by the disc golfers. We were there for 8 hours and didn’t see another disc golfer. Owner and staff were very nice and friendly. Club house had essentials and a decent selection of MVP discs. Though I wouldn’t say this course was terrible, I can’t see how this is top 25 in the states. I have played on ball golf courses before and this falls somewhere in the middle of the spectrum.

I got to play a round in a tournament with the course designer. Great guy and it came through in the design! Plenty of elevation changes and big drives to satisfy even the biggest of cannon arms, but enough danger to keep you thinking about your next shot. The play and scenery is a stark contrast to the common city park disc golf course. The ability to use golf carts and play down well kept fairways is an experience that makes this course very unique to the area, and the sport in general. I'm lucky to be close by but its worth even a couple hours drive to play.

Awesome holes and plenty of great shots hyzer/ani, hard pars, and great feeling birdies, but both couses had a couple holes that were kind of uninspiring. Staff were a pleasure and service was top notch, golf carts, easy to follow signage, maps with course lauout/scorecard added to what was overall a great experience. If they mixed up the two courses, added concrete pads and turned it into a 24+ hole course it would rival the infamous toboggan course and other top tier courses.

Played the Death By Disc Invitational (doubles) this weekend at Pine Hills. Generally, I don't excel at long arm courses... and disc golf courses on ball golf courses are always long. Pine Hills wasn't that bad, they went out of their way to make quite a few birdies possible (best score in the tournament was -8, playing par threes). We also got to use golf carts which was great. Well marked with nice tee signs, but it looked like they couldn't put in cement pads due to ball golf issues (big bounces?). Giving this an A-, highly recommended, and I'm sure a lot of long arm players would rate it an A.

Great course. Absolutely love it and the fact you can take a cart if you want. Very open but challenging at the same time as you have to place your shit's right or you could be in trouble. They did just add a much more difficult 18 holes for disc golf on the front nine of ball golf. He is naming the original 18 the north course and the new 18 which has all mvp baskets the south course. The south course really challenges you if you are a right handed forearm thrower. Overall great course.

Great pro design with excellent use of the terrain. Lots of room to air out long drives off of the tees. You must also bring your touch game for your up shots. Lots of rolling hills, water and various out of bounds comes in to play on numerous holes and a finishing hole with the potential of a couple stroke swing due to three ponds and an island type green. Add any wind into the mix for additional challenge.
They are in the discussion of adding a second 18 holes on the front 9 of the ball course with the intent of it being a "championship" 18. Once installed with cement or rubber mat tees it will be in the discussion as the #1 disc golf destination in Michigan.

They also have discs for sale in the pros hope and a very friendly staff and owner. I highly recommend a Vista to this beautiful course.

A1 course. The Red course which is the original is very wide and open giving the players with cannons to really rip the disc. Great baskets tee pads are labeled now. I love the carts it helps for a very hot day. Or to breeze through a little more progressivley (if that is a word) Greg, the owner of Pine Hills, has been taking extra steps to ensure this course is the top in the state of mi. A lot of help from rinker and others to give input on how the disc golf course is laid out.

Eventually there will be a Yellow course. Which offers a lot of risk/reward shots that challenge even the most experienced players.

Cons: well not too many. Just needs concrete or rubber teepads and their locations should be adjusted. Beware some ball golfers dont take us to kindly, but let them have the right away and you enjoy your round.

Pine Hills is one of my favorite courses. Plenty of room to let the discs fly and even a few tunnel shots. It is a golf course but the baskets are in difficult yet playable locations. Very well manicured for a disc golf course and plenty of trash containers and benches. The course is long but you'll find the elevation exciting.

I rate Pine Hills a solid A, with the only room for improvement being perminant tee pads, and accurate par and distance descriptions. I have noticed that some of the nicely hand crafted signs do not have matching info with the score cards. I realize this is year one and commend the staff for this great new disc golf inclusion. It's neat to put on a exhibition for the ball golfers. I've found everyone to be very nice and quite curious.

Pros: Long, challenging, and diverse holes - especially on the developing second course- which has more play through the MI outdoors feel, but still allows golf cart access. Wide open fairways with plenty of ways to punish an errant throw- water hazards (owner tries to retrieve/return discs from pond cleanings) plus lots of wooded and wetland space to avoid. I think disc loss potential contributes to spectator enjoyment, especially for tournaments. Flows really well with the ball golfers, just feels like we are all Pine Hills members- fastest plays through if possible giving ball golfers the courtesy and right of play first. The owner is working on getting teepads from a new disc golf tee-box company that uses recycled rubber. I usually walk the first round which is always my 10k fitbit step challenge, then golf cart the rest of the time. Legal to buy beer/wine/liquor in the clubhouse and enjoy on the course; I think only one other MI course allows beer/wine but no liquor. I practice here on the valuable membership- which is a huge pro over the one time play fee in my opinion. There are a few porta potties out on the course and the clubhouse bathrooms are great- way better bathroom situation than any other course I've played. Sometimes the owner sells hotdogs/pizza at the clubhouse, or even in the small town of Laingsburg- there is a subway and a few local food joints or bars. Great spot to travel to and play a few times if you campout at Sleepy Hollow State Park also in Laingsburg and also one of the best courses for Michigan. Best course maintenance in the state, as far as I have played.
Cons: There can be a lot of people, the Laingsburg high school golf team plays here; but it's never slowed me down more than what I get at other disc golf courses in the state- and the owner tries to direct you to start on the best hole for pacing considering them. I have lost quite a few discs out here, bring a disc gator for the water hazards, they leave a rowboat out by the hole 18 hotspot- and the owner tries to retrieve/return discs when they drag the pond weeds (I have gotten 2 back from the owner even!) You're also going to want bugspray, just like every MI course with water. Still waiting on the tee-pads, for now; but all the holes are clearly signed and many have benches/garbages by the tees.
Other Thoughts: The owner is very friendly and tries to find time to play disc golf himself, awesome to see the commitment to development.

If anything, it slows down play as both players need to travel to every shot. Interested to see the next 18 here on the front 9.

You will need to bring your entire game as the course will test every shot in your arsenal. If I lived closers I would buy the disc golf membership in a heartbeat. I have played hundreds of courses and this course tops them all. This is the one course you absolutely have to play to believe for yourself how beautiful this course is.

Pine Hills disc golf is exactly what you thought disc golf on a ball golf course would be... awesome. Mix in optional use of carts and friendly, curious ball golfers, and you have an experience for everyone.

The staff at Pine Hills seems to really have embraced having disc golf on their course, and it really shows. Excellent tee signs and great baskets.

The course is a lot of distance, with a couple shorter birdie opportunities sprinkled in, and then there are some parts 4s. Execution off the tee is crucial.

My only real critiques would be that the course could use some signage from one basket to the next tee, and it could obviously use cement pads. But for how young this course is, I'm sure that's something that will be added over time. There also needs to be consistency in the overall course par, which varies from scorecard, to tee signs, to discgolfscene.

Excellent work by Steve Hedstrom and the staff at Pine Hills! We'll be back!

Well designed disc golf course laid beside a ball golf course. Very nice to play on such a well maintained course. Staff was wonderfull and so were all the ball golfers we encountered throughout the day. Definitely one of my new favorites and will be come out as often as I can. I'm also excited for the other course they are planning on putting in, in the future.

THIS COURSE ROCKS. Amazingly groomed... as it should be playing on a ball golf course. Longer course yet plays to all skill levels. Beer cart. This place is going to be one of the top courses in the state soon enough. Pads are grass but ALL level. Talk of brick pavers for pads in 2016. Mapping is phenomenal. Great art on signs that show you where you need to gom great cards. Helpful people running it.

Nice layout. I noted earlier about tall grass around some of the pin placements, and it was nice to see that it had been trimmed down. I recommend this course to anyone looking to improve distance and shot placement skills. They recently added 'Next Tee' arrows by the pin placements, so it is very easy to follow. My only complaint would be there is no place to warm up. I usually stop at the soccer field down the street and stretch the arm. A practice 'putting' basket would also be a great addition as they do have a practice green for the golfers ;)

This course is amazing. Most of the challenge lies in the elevation changes and some long fairways, but there are a few holes that require you to actually hit a certain line. There are a few water hazards, but not too many, and the golf greens play OB as well. All in all, it's a beautiful course, and a great experience. The course designer, as well as the Pine Hills staff are awesome people that love the game (disc/ball golf) and want their patrons to enjoy themselves while watching the sport grow. This is easily my favorite course in Michigan, even though it's not the most challenging.

I am biased, as I designed this course, but I do really like Pine Hills Disc Golf Course. 18 holes of Disc Golf on the back 9 of Ball Golf. The use of land with rolling hills, mature trees, and basket placement makes for a fun and challenging round for all skill levels. Opening your arm up for distance crush shots and maintaining accuracy at the same time is the name of the game here. All green are OB making many approaches dangerous adds to the fun. Being able to Disc Golf in a Golf cart is so cool. Food, beer, and drinks in the club house is a huge plus that is not at many disc courses have. Come out to Pine Hills Disc Golf Course because its worth the trip. Hand-made wood tee signs are in. Tee pads coming soon.

well-designed holes with engaging lines and ob. killer mvp black hole baskets that you can jam. my biggest issue is with the teepads, they’ve upgraded to some kind of turf that’s nice and grippy but the land is almost never level underneath. nice long pads or pavers would be huge if they wanted to stand out as a destination course. additionally, some roughs could use work- a small amount of clearing can go a long way.

sharing the course with ball golfers can be interesting as well, but mostly fine on slow days.

could easily be an A if the aforementioned is worked-on. worth checking out.

Plenty of room to air out drives for max distance with most holes having a technical element to them. If you're not a high level player expect to see some big numbers on your score card! Looking forward to checking this place out in the summer, would definitely get a cart, this course kicked by butt.

Some great holes and big pumps on both courses. Nasty rough if you miss a couple of shots on the south course. Like forget even looking for it kind of bush, it's gone. Also #10 on the north course, please cut the thorn bushes that surround the basket. They are nasty and can hurt someone pretty badly if they're not careful. The proximity to the ball golfers is a bit of an annoyance but people seem okay and aware of what's going on.

There are some tees that need to be revisited I think, Lots of room out there to hang them out so don't restrict the throw off the tee so much. Natural grass pads would be better than the two piece driving range mats they have pushed together. Short tees were tough to find sometimes. Maybe have stakes instead of sticks laying flat? Otherwise I really liked this course and the area. Greg and the staff were nice and they have a little patio to have a drink on if you want, Worth spending the day and playing both courses for sure.

There was only one hole that bothered me, number 8 with a long tree tunnel shot, but that's probably due to my skill. Gets an A- bc of the natural tee pads. Overall a beautiful course and a good time.

It is a very fun layout. Given the course is still new, I understand there are only natural tee pads. I prefer to have some sort of tee pad when trying to throw a max distance shot.That is the only reason I am rating an A-. I am sure they are on their way! Great Job with the course. I will update my rating and review as this course grows and improves!

This was a really fun and challenging course. We opted to rent the golf carts and play from the tips. Definitely a course for the long arms (one hole is 900'!), but also requires technical precision. Looks like this course is somewhat a work in progress as the tees are natural and were just recently staked. The integration with the ball golf course is interesting, but sometimes awkward as ball golfers have the right of way. Nevertheless, the course offered a variety of shots, a few creek crossings, a few woodsy tunnel shots, enough ace run opportunities, and plenty of scenic views on the manicured terrain. My only criticisms:no tee pads, and signage, map and scorecard could be better. Overall worth the trip.
