There will be a disc golf tournament called "A Basket Case" on Saturday October 14, 2017 at Portage Lakes Disc Golf Course. This is a fundraiser for new baskets. Currently on our 18 hole layout we will have 9 holes with dual baskets by the end of September. PLDGC needs 9 more baskets. The cost for 9 DGA Mach V baskets delivered with locks is $3,375.00.

There will be a raffle drawing for a Dynamic Disc bag, disc retriever, Innova towel, shoulder straps, and hand drier at the Chain Shot tournament on July 15th. $140.00 value donated by Fisherman's Central. $5.00 for one entry, $10.00 for three. We are putting a "Inner City" DG tournament together to be held Sunday June 25, 2017 at Firestone Park (not the Metro Park). The address is 1480 Girard St, Akron, OH 44301. This is an all par 3 tournament, with all holes on the shorter side. We will not know the exact lengths until day of.
This tournament is in conjunction with "Open Streets", a City of Akron event being held at various spots around Akron that day. There will be several things going on in the immediate area of our tournament, but we have been given the entire park area (and a grassy island in the middle of the street) to layout our course; which is awesome. North Firestone Blvd. will be open to traffic, but many other streets in the area will all be closed.
The tournament name will be "Firestone Park It".
What I need are volunteers to set up, layout tee areas and basket locations. We have an 18 hole design already, but that could possibly change day of, a little.
We also need 18 portable baskets that day. Actually 17 because I have one.
Please let me know ASAP if you can get your hands on one to bring. Without baskets, we have no tournament. (Bill Griffith I need the tourney scoring board please). Plus we need tournament scorecards to place in scoring board. Regular scorecards also. Also, let me know if you can help ASAP. Thanks.
The tournament cannot begin until 12 noon and goes to 5:00. We would get there early (say 9:00 AM) for set up, etc.
The tournament will be presented by the Northeast Ohio Disc Golf Alliance.
We need the banner and any promotion materials brought that day.
Only putters and up to speed 5 discs will be permitted.
All registrations are $20. $10 going to a local charity, $10 to payouts.

It's that time of year, the fishermen and women are out and like to use the shoreline near some of our water holes. Please be courteous as we do share the park with them. Although it can be frustrating at times if you give them a heads up most of them are cool and will watch and have a chat with you as you play through.

Please eat at Jerzees restaurant on Rt. 619 in Green this Tuesday February 21st anytime from 11:00 AM till 10:00 PM. Show your server the attached flyer (either on your phone or printed out) and the Portage Lakes Disc Golf Association will receive 20% of your bill for the "Chain Shot" tournament in July. This tournament is helping to fund the IBH and their opioid epidemic program for addicts. Thank you for supporting our tournament and for those overcoming addiction.

We have had some recent vandalism at PLDGC. Someone destroyed the lock and bent the securing bracket on #1 basket. I ordered a new lock and a week later they pounded on that one also. (it still works) ... show more ›

We have had some recent vandalism at PLDGC. Someone destroyed the lock and bent the securing bracket on #1 basket. I ordered a new lock and a week later they pounded on that one also. (it still works)
Within the past couple days, someone knocked over signpost on #6.
They also upended and broke the short teepad sign on #2 earlier this season.
Please keep your eyes open when you play. Let me know if you see anything suspicious.

Big yellow jackets nest on the final stretch of hole 6 towards the basket. Where all the brush had been razed recently. It's past the original basket position on the way to position b. There's a lot of dirt and brushy waste with the lake to your right side and probably 50 feet down from the little trail that takes you across the road to hole #7.
I am gonna try and move the basket back to short position.
