This will serve as your Player's Meeting for The Patriot this weekend...
I wanted to go over some things for the event as well as some COVID-19 policies.
First and foremost, thank you to all the players that registered so early for the event. It made it much easier to the planning of this event. I could not be running this event without the support and assistance of Disc Baron. They will be providing all the online payouts for this event as well as they donated a pint glass for each amateur playing this weekend . Disc Baron has a great online store with each disc weighed and photographed, the disc you pick out, is the disc you get. Secondly, thanks to Discraft for sponsoring the Feature Event Series and the Amateur State Championships. Lastly, thank you to the Hunt's for allowing us to run this event here. Damaging the course, going into ponds to get discs (that are more than right one the edge), littering, or anything else detrimental will result in a DQ and being banned from the course. They return all discs that they get out of the ponds so if one is deep let us know at HQ. The speed limit is 5 MPH on the entrance road.
I will be hosting a 7:45am Questions and Answers session at the course for anyone has anything they need clarified. Please use social distancing if you are coming to this and only come if you have a question.
So, there is no players meeting for the event. There is no checking in the morning for the event. The PDGA has released some new software which I will be utilizing. You will be able to access great amount of online informaton at:
www.pdga.com/score Password: PAT1
It will list your starting hole and the tee time for the event. All you need to do is report to your starting hole before we tee off. It also allows for PDGA live scoring within your group. I will be using this for the second round as well. Your starting hole and the tee time will be posted via the website.
PDGA Live Scoring gives these benefits: It ALWAYS adds your score correctly! It allows you to see how your division of play is playing. It lists the distance and all of OB for each hole (there is OB on EVERY hole). Lastly, you do no need to walk to HQ to turn you card in, once everyone reviews their score, you submit your score to HQ. All you need is an internet signal on a phone before the round and when submitting your score. There can be only 1 online scorer for the group but anyone else can follow along at
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/45908 Just click Live Hole by Hole.
It is pretty easy to use. Here is a link if you want some more information:
https://www.pdga.com/help/tournament-management/official-hole-scoring#scorekeeping Everyone that is in a group that successfully utilizes the PDGA Online scoring both rounds will be entered into a drawing for a Disc Baron Gift Certificate of $35. So, let me bribe you! I do recommend that someone else in the group keeps a second card just for a double check, this can be in any fashion of a different online scoring system or a paper scorecard. The PDGA Live Scoring if used however, is the official scorecard.
There is a 50/50 CTP and an Ace Pool Tie Breaker CTP. These are only for people that paid into the 50/50 and the Ace Pool. If there are no aces, that CTP will be the tie breaker, so everyone will have had 2 chances at it. Both of these items will be paid out via PayPal shortly after the event. These items were available during your online registration. Did you forget and still want to get in, we will have a drop box available for you at HQ for those HOWEVER YOU MUST BRING a $5 bill for each (no change will be made) or we can accept PayPal payments on site.
We are raffling off a Chainstar Lite (1 basket over both days) and a Zuca Cart (1 each day) as well, selling 100 tickets in total. Tickets were $5 each and available. Did you forget and still want to get in, we will have a drop box available for you at HQ for those HOWEVER YOU MUST BRING a $5 bill for each (no change will be made) or we can accept PayPal payments on site. We will maintain a list all who bought tickets and their number so no exchanges need to be made and we will draw the winning number before everyone leaves for the day.
All Amateur payouts for this event will be done through Disc Baron's online score. If you are in a cashing spot, sometime on Saturday night you will be emailed a code and the amount of your winnings. All you have to do is search Disc Baron's online store and pick out what you want. He will have it shipped out to you in a lightning fast manner. Pro Payouts will be done via PayPal.
There will be Bruce's Bad Ass BBQ on site cooking up lunch for people. They have a few different options and if you have not had it before, I highly recommend it. You do not need to pre-order it or anything. You can just get it between rounds.
All CTPs on the course are for both rounds. If you end on a hole with a CTP please bring it in with you.
Disc Baron has donated a pint glass to all amateur players and you can pick this up between Round 1 and 2 but not before. If you were on the 1st 45 to register list (I posted that on DGS a while ago) please pick up your disc at that time as well.
Lastly things to bring or consider:
Hand Sanitizer
Extra Water (I will have water on site for you)
Bug Spray
Extra Discs
$5 Bills for Side Games Raffles or PayPal
Address to course is 9306 E. Dodge rd. Otisville, MI 48463. There is a mini basket on the mailbox.
If your GPS tells you to turn on Patricia drive don’t follow that. The driveway is off Dodge Road. The speed limit is 10 MPH. Tee Time is 8:30am See you there!
Thank you Great Disc State!
Your TD with the mostest,
Mark
