Blue Ridge Championship Update

First off, thank you to each and every one of you for supporting the Blue Ridge Championship. This past weekend sparked something special at North Cove something it hasn’t felt since before Helene. We truly appreciate all of you.

I also want to update the pros: we were able to generate an additional $1,000 through spectator support, and that has been added directly to payout.

Payouts will be processed later today.

If anyone is still interested in event merchandise shirts, discs, or hoodies reach out and we’ll get it shipped to you.

To the touring pros who showed up and supported us this weekend thank you. It meant a lot.

Good luck to everyone competing at the PDGA Champions Cup this week. We’ll see you in Jonesboro.

• Out of Bounds (OB): Defined by white flags and/or painted lines unless otherwise stated.
• Water: Treated as OB if the disc is completely surrounded by water.
• Hazards: Marked by yellow flags or markings. Play from lie with a one-stroke penalty.

• No Overnight Parking: Parking in upper parking lots is not allowed overnight under any circumstances.
• Camping Check-In Required: All campers must check in upon arrival and will be assigned a designated camping area. Do not set up without approval.
• Burn Ban in Effect: No fires of any kind are permitted. This includes campfires, charcoal, or open flames.

Player Update – North Cove

We wanted to take a moment to share some context around this year’s event and what makes it a little different.

As many of you know, the North Cove area was hit hard by Hurricane Helene. A large portion of the local tourism economy is still recovering, with several businesses unable to reopen and limited lodging options compared to previous years.

Because of this, we made a deliberate decision to lower entry fees this year:
• $115 for Pros
• $100 for Amateurs

Our goal was simple — bring players back to the area and drive real foot traffic to help support the local businesses that are still fighting to recover, including the on-site restaurant and pro shop.

Bigger Than a Tournament

This event has always been special, but this year it means even more.

Your presence here directly supports:
• Local staff and small businesses
• The course and facility at North Cove
• The long-term recovery of a destination that has meant a lot to the disc golf community

Quite honestly, events like this play a real role in helping this area get back on its feet.

Payouts & Expectations

With lower entry fees, payouts will naturally reflect that structure.
• MPO 1st place is currently $1,310
• Full payout breakdown has been updated and posted

We understand that payout is an important part of any event—especially with this now being part of the DGPT Q-Series—and we want to be fully transparent:

Nothing has changed behind the scenes
No funds are being withheld
All payouts directly reflect entry fees and standard event costs (greens fees, PDGA fees, etc.)

We are continuing to pursue added cash, but given the impact to the local business community, opportunities are currently limited.

What You Can Expect

While payouts may look different this year, what hasn’t changed is the experience:
• Championship-level courses in the Blue Ridge Mountains
• A full event atmosphere with great energy
• On-site food, pro shop, and community interaction
• A weekend that’s about more than just scores

We’re putting everything we have into making this an event you’re proud to be part of.

THINGS TO KNOW:

We will have limited on site camping options. This will include sleeping in your car or in a camper.

We have a small area that will be designated for camping. I will email out a map for all of these things. It is $10 per night to camp. This is for tents, cars, vans and campers. If your camper is longer than 30ft I HIGHLY recommend not coming to the course in it. You can camp your bigger RVs near the main road. But you cannot bring them in the venue. This is due to the main bridge being out.

Parking will be limited. We will have the small lot up top that will be for lower clearance cars. If you drive an all wheel drive, 4x4 or any cross over vehicle we would really appreciate if you would park in the lower lot near hole 1 of Gorge. If it rains this lot can be tougher to navigate. However, we have a team to help should that happen. We will have additional parking along the main highway near the entrance of the course if we need it. Again I will send out a map soon.

We are opening up a spectator dgs page that will have camping registration. If you plan to camp you will need to book your spot. Again space is limited for this. We will have a fire pit area near the camping spaces and a porta potty but no power or running water.
