All club and individual membership fees go toward the purse for the 2014 championships, so the winner's take will be a minimum of $1,000 next year.
Leonard Johnson June 24, 2013 at 2:14am
A note to Geoff, Tree and others: Next June the field will be expanded to 32 with $1,000 going to the winner. Players can earn points toward qualifying by playing events sanctioned by the Michigan Match Play Association. Clubs that join for the $200 fee will be able to send up to four players to the championships. Member clubs can also host their own match play events so that their own players can earn points.players unaffiliated with a club can join the MiMPA for $50 and then pay all events fo ... more

Word is they fogged Big Bend awhile back and it's better. The plan is to meet there at 830, draw matches at 845 and tee at 900. Pack a lunch just in case or plan a quick trip to Mancinos at 8 mile. Coochies is closed.
If the mosquitoes end up being unbearable, well do lunch in BR and play the finals/doubles at Northend. Bring plenty of DEET.
See you all Saturday.
Tate Handy June 21, 2013 at 11:37pm
I can do the meeting and drawing whenever but the morning of would probably be easier. Is there any update on moving the tourney course yet? I definitely don't want to be covered in mosquitos if I can avoid it.
Geoff Bennett June 21, 2013 at 4:02pm
Any way I can get in? Waitlist?
Hi Geoff....sorry man, the field of 16 is set. Next year we are expanding the field to 32 and making this a two day event. Last weekend in June. I anticipate that the prize for first place will be $1,000. Playing in just one match play event should all but guarantee you a spot as long as you reg by June 1.
Just had a cancellation, Geoff. You're in if you can confirm by 5 pm Tuesday.

MOSQUITO ALERT! If the situation does not improve at Big Bend between now and the 29th, I would like to propose we move the Championships to Northend Riverside Park in Big Rapids instead. Also, as I anticipate that most of you are planning on coming up on Saturday instead of the day before, I'd like to also propose drawing for matches first thing in the morning and then meeting about the MiMPA over lunch at The Gate. Your feedback on this would be appreciated. Leonard

Leonard, I pre-reged but I can't make it say "waitlist"....thought maybe you can edit that...Thanks!
Had a great time! Thanks to Leonard for making it happen and everyone who showed up to play some great golf. I can't wait to see how it grows and evolves when the field expands next year!
Hey All! If you have not yet done so, join the Michigan Match Play Association here on the scene: http://www.discgolfscene.com/clubs/MI_Match_Play_Association
...and encourage all others who have an interest to do so as well. I'll be posting updates there as we continue to work iron out the details, and to promote dialogue on the proposed constitution, etc.
