All course boundary fences, golf green, water traps, and concrete areas near the clubhouse are out-of-bounds. The driving range is out-of-bounds (holes 16-18). The boundary between holes 15 and 16 is out-of-bounds (there will be a painted line between the fairways that wraps around behind tee 16. See attached diagram for reference). Sand traps play as a hazard (must be completely surrounded by sand. Play where it lies with a 1-stroke penalty).

All PDGA rules are in effect. No 2-meter rule. PDGA live score in the primary score, paper card is back up. Must keep score two ways. For live score, go to pdga.com/score. Access code is COLT2023.

Round 1 will start at noon at the latest. Round 2 will start at 4 pm at the latest (course requirements). We will be adjusting holes based on scores for round 2. Starting holes for both rounds will be posted on the PDGA event page.

The Colton Golf Course does not allow any outside alcohol. They have beverages for purchase from the club house. Enjoy responsibly.

If you aren’t sure how to play a hole, be sure to play a provisional and talk to the TDs when you get a chance or after the round.

Some people have asked what the layout will be. All of the baskets are in the current positions that they will be in, which is the Colton main layout. We will be using the red tee box for all divisions. If you play the weekly at Colton, the layout will be mostly the same. Only thing I am going to do is set the red tee boxes and make them a proper width and not as wide. Sand traps play as hazards, greens, water, driving range, and boundary fences all play as OB.

If you are added to from the wait-list to the event, I am allowing players 36 hours to complete their registration. If a player does not update their registration within 36 hours, then the player will forfeit their spot and the registration will move to the next person on the waitlist. If I do not hear from a player about not being able to play on Sunday, then I will assume that the player will be able to make the event on Sunday and all PDGA competition manual guidelines will be in effect.

Good morning Colton Open players,

After consulting with the course manager and the PDGA, I made the decision to make the Colton Open a 1 day event. We will be player Sunday, July 16, so no need to change anything for you. I moved the other divisions over. I have also combined the wait-lists and will begin to add players from the wait-list to the event. So, I want to give everyone an update on the situation with registration and the event. When I split the divisions into their assigned days, I based it off of the set up Bill had last year. I also expected them to fill as fast as previous years. So far that has not been the case. With the current players signed up for both days is not quite enough to fill one day (not counting waitlist players). I put a hold on registration to allow players to waitlist and see how many players are actually able to play the event. I'm going to be honest in that the course is not cheap to rent out for the event and I have to reserve the entire course, whether its the full 72 players or 20. If I do not have enough players register, then I cannot run the event. I am going to keep things the way they are right now and allow players to join the waitlist. If enough player are interested in playing that join the waitlist for both days of play, then I will keep the event at two separate days. If there is not enough interest, then I will have to condense the event into 1 day and move all the currently registered players to the single day. Any players who were on the previous day that got moved that could no longer make the event would be entitled to a full refund and I would add players from the waitlist based on when the joined. I hope that this isn't the case and we can run the event both days, but if we don;t have enough players, then it's the only options I see possible. I will speak with the course manager before I make any final decision to see if there are other options.

So, if you know someone that is thinking of playing, have them join the waitlist! The more people I see join, then the more likely it is that we can keep it two separate days. I am going to wait until after this weekend to address the issue again, but if you have any questions, let me know. Thank you all.
