Four Fathers Open IV | Player's Guide
Good Morning Disc Golfers!
Pour a coffee, toast-up a bagel and get comfortable; we've attached the player's guide for this year's Four Fathers Open IV lifted by Lucky Lines at Newcastle Disc Golf.
This email is being sent to both registered athletes AND those currently on the waitlist so as to prepare should you receive the call to lace them up this weekend. If you're currently registered for the event but do not plan on attending this weekend please let us know ASAP in order to give our waitlisters an opportunity to get their affairs in order before the weekend.
A few quick points before you read the guide:
• We will be playing the 20 hole tournament layout at the course, familiar to those who attended last year with both "Cliffhanger (CH)" and "Practice Basket (PB)" added to the regular 18 holes you may be used to if you've played the course before.
• All of our amateur division winners will receive a prize off of our Pound Disc Golf table during the award ceremony. We approached event prizing a bit differently this year, opting for fewer, better prizes over simply merching out a disc or two to the top "x" number of finishers. Each player's pack is equal to the net amateur entry fee (after pass through fees) for each player, so consider this icing on the cake. The value is huge and a product of a diligent fundraising effort. We were able to secure sponsorships from Lucky Lines, Thought Space Athletics, Pound Disc Golf, the ODSA and our title sponsor Four Fathers Brewing Co. Our amateur prize table is worth over $3k alone! Pros, we've also got your back... we've added an additional $250 in cash to your payouts as well!
• Lunch is NOT provided... Although there is food and drink available at the golf course canteen, please prepare adequately.
• We will provide fresh drinking water for water bottle refills. Please make sure you bring your own reusable water bottle to stay hydrated for the day! There will also be a snack table available for all competitors to munch on during your round.
• Bring a lawn chair for lunch or the awards afterwards. We're happy to store them at tournament HQ during your round.
• PDGA Event pages can be found here (Pro, MA1, FA1, MA40, FA40, MJ12) and here (MA2, FA2, MA3, FA3, MA50-70, FA50-60)
Finally, the Four Fathers Open is the 8th stop on this year's OCC Tour and a Provincial Qualifier. If you wish to (potentially) qualify for Provincials, earn your home club an OCC point, or receive the prize for acing the travelling "Pound Ace Hole" you must be an ODSA member prior to the start of the event. The ODSA is a solely not-for-profit, volunteer-driven organization focused on elevating disc golf programming and providing infrastructure development advocacy within the province. We've played an integral role in the installation of over 2 dozen courses within the province as well as the execution of grants and tour/event development for the past 10+ years. You can sign-up or renew your ODSA membership here.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this email, the player's guide or the event, please don't hesitate to reach out. If any clarifications or corrections are necessary we will email our entire field with updates.
