About this tournament

Intermediate women, novice and juniors are moving from pool C to pool B. Pool C was filled up with a good number of spots left in pool B. These divisions play the red tees at regular Municipal and short tees (1, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 16) at the Municipal Red course.

The 17th annual Southside Smackdown will be held on Saturday April 17, 2021. Three courses (Municipal, USA and Municipal Red) are being used to accommodate the playing field. The Municipal Red course design will differ from the usual layout. The first round gets underway at 9:00, with the second round starting an hour after the last card is turned in from your course. The players meeting and starting hole will be posted online before the tournament.

Tournament central is at the Performing Arts Pavilion in Municipal Park.

Tournament Format:
Pool A: MPO, MP40, MP50 and MA1
Pool B: FPO, FP40, MP60, FA1, MA40, MA50, MA60, FA2, MA4 and Juniors
Pool C: MA2 and MA3

First round
Pool A: USA
Pool B: Original Municipal
Pool C: Municipal Red

Second round
Pool A: Original Municipal
Pool B: Municipal Red
Pool C: USA

All players receive a T shirt and snack pack.
All amateur divisions also get a disc of their choice, sticker and pencil.

Food is provided free of charge. All food served by staff members with gloves. Multiple bottles of sanitizer and wipes on site.

On the lunch menu so far:
Hamburgers
Hot dogs
Pulled pork
Sausage dogs
Godfather’s Pizza
BBQ beans
Chips
Homemade cookies and pound cake
with more to come

Fruit and Sugar Rush doughnuts in the morning.

After the second round, Godfather’s will provide more fresh pizzas.

Extras include:
Free raffles (every player gets one ticket with players pack)
CTP’s
Ring of Fires
Skittles (with the winner getting 10 collector discs coming from halo, tour series and first run)
A 150 foot CTP one shot ring of fire style

We’ll also be holding a special raffle with different merchandise (discs, qwik stik, hats and shirts). The last raffle drawn is for a weekend stay on Dauphin Island. Every dollar made on the raffle goes to JJ and Jennifer Lindsey’s close family friend battling cancer. They’ve helped us with sponsorship money, bottled water and their time. Please consider putting a few bucks in the raffle bucket.

The Smackdown would struggle to be successful without sponsors. We have several sponsorship levels to choose from.
$25 tee sign
$50 tee sign and small spot on t shirt
$100 tee sign with larger spot on t shirt
$200+ tee sign with larger spot on t shirt and display banner

All $50 sponsors get a shirt and disc
All $100+ sponsors get two shirts and a disc

Guaranteed $2,000 added cash to the pro payout. The $2,000 is to be distributed evenly among all pro divisions. Any money raised after that, will mainly focus on the MPO division.

Municipal Red layout:
Hole 1 plays to hole 2 basket. The tee box is moved up about 20 feet. 360 feet
Hole 2 is regular hole 3. 209 feet
Hole 3 is regular hole 4. 243 feet
Hole 4 is regular hole 5. 245 feet
Hole 5 is regular hole 6. 224 feet
Hole 6 is regular hole 7. 209 feet
Hole 7 is regular hole 8. 322 feet
Hole 8 is regular hole 9. 318 feet
Hole 9 plays along the left hand side of the walkway going toward the parking lot. 410 feet
Hole 10 tees from the same side of the ditch as 18's basket to 17's basket. 248 feet
Hole 11 tees close to 16's tee box with the water on your right, to 10's basket. 325 feet
Hole 12 throws over the spillway to 12's basket. 423 feet
Hole 13 tees by circular driveway to 13's basket. 228 feet
Hole 14 is regular hole 11. 212 feet
Hole 15 plays toward the museum. 275 feet
You'll then walk past the back side of the museum to in front of the gazebo.
Hole 16 has the museum parking lot on the left and water on the right. 337 feet
After hole 16 you cross the bridge (by the road close to the police precinct) and tee off by the sidewalk.
Hole 17 goes up the hill through some pine trees. 177 feet
Hole 18's tee throws from the hill down to the wood platform close to the water. 227 feet

The course will be flagged Saturday the 10th. Five temp baskets won't be there until the day of the tournament, but you'll see where to tee and where to throw. The intermediate women, novice and juniors play short tees on holes 1,7, 8, 9, 11,12 and 16.
