Players Meeting and info in case you missed the email we sent out.
Hey Everybody,
Thank you all for coming out to compete in our annual Queen City Amateur Only PDGA Tournament. Course is in great shape thanks to our Cincinnati Parks department and crew, they have been working on it recently to ensure it is looking good. Special thanks to all the volunteers that helped us get the course prepared for this event. We did have hopes to try and add another course but that plan fell through. Next season will have that and other ideas resolved and ready to provide a better event. And now for the good stuff....
Event Details:
Parking: After checking in, Best to park near the hole you start/finish on. Please try to car pool if possible since parking is very spread out and limited. Try to not park in the grass please, with any rain it will be very easy to get stuck and it's not allowed at most parks anyway. Always respect our parks.
Check In & Event HQ: Jason will be at the Lat64 RV near Hole 5's tee area.
- All Players Packs will be distributed from Jason at the Lat64 RV when you check in. Discraft was available for this event for Custom stamping so we hope you get a disc you will like.
- If you want an Event Custom Shirt and did not get a players pack, we should have extras for purchase after the event.
Scoring:
We will be utilizing the PDGA Live scoring system. We will also provide a paper card per group. You may do both scoring media if you wish. Live scoring is the official scorecard unless only a paper scorecard is used. We highly suggest using the Live scoring system as it adds it all up for you, no math mistakes and players and others can watch the scoring as it happens. Just have one person per group handle the Live scoring and goto PDGA.com/score and enter the code: 0711 Then sign in with your name or PDGA number. Then add the players you have in your group the same way. Be certain to have everyone check and confirm their scores after each round and complete the scoring.
Your Event TD's:
HQ Latitude RV near Hole 5 : Jason Kerl 859-907-5375
At The Nati pro shop : Adam Jones 513-255-7275
Hole Assignments:
Scoreboard will be setup with Jason at the Lat64 RV. Top person listed per hole is responsible for picking up the paper scorecard although any member of the group may take it, so long as it gets to the group. Each group can then decide who does the Live scoring and who does the Paper scorecard. After the first round we will finalize the tee assignments by score and have them ready asap. Second round tee time will be announced and listed asap giving you all enough time to be ready for the next round to start. We give at least one hour from the last card turned in to set the 2nd round time. We will also post on DGScene and our social media when the 2nd round will start.
Shotgun start Tee Off:
Since it's been awhile for this format for most of us, we will give two short horn blasts for the 2 minute warning. Then two longer blasts for the Tee Off signal. Please yell Tee Off from each group so it carries through the course. Due to topography many of you may not hear the Horn blasts. Please help us by carrying the signal onward.
Course Map & OB: Attached are two files containing this info.
Course Layout: This has been listed on the DGScene registration info section. Mix of basket locations chosen just for this event.
Rule clarifications:
Casual Relief: We have granted this for some areas where you may find Thorn Bushes or Poison Ivy as these are safety issues: PDGA describes it as this "To obtain relief from a casual area, the player's lie may be relocated to the nearest lie which is farther from the target and is on the line of play, at the nearest point that provides relief " Per PDGA rule 806.03 B.
Mt.Airy: Hole 3: Drop Zone for the Mandatory: Adam installed a 4x6 board on the right(correct) side for the designated Drop Zone. You do have the choice of using this Drop Zone or taking your previous lie which could be the Tee Pad. Missing the Mando incurs a One stroke penalty.
Lost Disc: Please help each other look for any lost discs, try to maintain the 3 minute allowance for searching. This can greatly effect round flow and duration for everyone. PDGA rule 805.03
Bridges: All bridges are a separate playing surface. If you find yourself under one you must play it from where it lies. If you can't reach it you may play it at the nearest point behind it on the line of play where you can take a stance. Very similar to casual relief.
Water: At Mt.Airy, the course has 5 water stations via the Parks water system. Of course it is always wise to come fully prepared. Our shop between holes 1 & 18 also has several drink and snack options available for purchase.
Weather:
In case of any bad weather conditions, such as lightening, we will give a horn blast 3 times: stop play, mark your lie and exit the course and head for shelter. There is a mandatory 30 minute delay for this situation and we will update everyone if this durations changes for the restart. Alerts will also be sent out via PDGA Live Scoring app.
Withdrawals and Wait List: Any player that can't attend must contact the event TD's directly. We do offer refunds, if there is a waitlist player to take your spot you can get a full refund, if not, then you can choose a partial refund or player's pack. Any player that does not show up or contact TD's about not attending will forfeit their entry and players pack. Per PDGA refund policy guidelines.
All players still on the wait list: Refunds will be processed after the events starts.
Wish you all the best of luck this weekend. Hope you have a great time and play well out there. Thanks again for coming to our event and may the course be with you.
