There were questions and debates regarding the special conditions used on Hole 2 (playing to the island) and Hole 3 (playing back to land) that I would like to address. An excerpt of the rule book:

805.03 Special Conditions

A) Rules governing special conditions that may exist on the course shall be clearly defined and disseminated to all players prior to the start of the tournament. All special conditions shall be covered in the players' meeting. Each player is responsible for adhering to all points covered in the player's meeting.
B) A drop zone may be utilized in special conditions. The Director must announce prior to the tournament how it is to be used and whether a penalty throw is to be assessed.
C) No rules may be stipulated which conflict with these rules, unless approved by the Tour Manager.

805.03 Clearly states that a drop zone may be used in special conditions, that the TD must announce prior to the tournament how it is to be played and WHETHER a penalty throw is to be assessed. This was followed properly and everyone was informed prior to the rounds. We chose not to assess a penalty throw to our special condition. This was at our discretion, and clearly allowed by the PDGA rule book. Thanks for your understanding.

So any explanation of what happened to the AM payouts? what was posted and paid out varied greatly, it doesn't seem like a simple math error can explain the differences from what was posted and what was paid. I know Micha was stoked to see the payouts and when he was done was talking about getting his payout, $170 was posted for second place in MA2 and he got $65? Also curious as to why their division with 30 players and 1st got $80, but the FA1 winner with only three in the division received $95? Any insight or explanation?

Putting Contest for the Tournament!!

Here's a few notes on the Putting Contest for the event, which will be open from 9:30 AM --11:30 AM Saturday for Pool B, and from after the rounds until 5:45 PM for Pool A.

-Each player will get an entry into the contest with their paid entry to the event. Additional entries can be done with a $2 donation to the Friends of Punderson, with all proceeds going back to park and course. There is no limits on additional entries.

-A putter prize will be given to each division winner, and the division winners will face off at 6:30 to declare an overall winner, with the prize being a MVP DIsc Sports Mini Basket and 5 Nano Minis.

-Distances will be 20, 30, and 40 feet, with three putts per station. 20 feet = 1 point, 30 feet = 2 points, and 40 feet = 3 points. If all three from one station is made, and additional 1-3 points will be given, based on the station's particular points (e.g. 2 bonus points at 30 for all three made). Jump putts will be allowed from the 40 foot station only.

-There will be a 1:30 time limit. In case of ties, remaining time will be tracked and used to break any ties within divisions. Time remaining will be used from this.

-Division winners will face off with 2 putts per station beginning at 30 feet. Those who make 2 (or 1 of that's the case) will keep putting until there is 3 people left. When there are 3 people left, the distance will move back to 40 feet with one putt per station, using single elimination until a winner is declared.

I would like to send a thank you to a very many people who have donated their time and efforts getting things ready for the tournament. Every year the course looks the best it ever has, and this year is no disappointment! Many of you that know me, will know how long I've been involved. I can truly say that I've never seen such a transformation in a single year, ever. I'm so psyched to play, and I hope you ALL remember to have FUN this weekend. I wish you well, but don't take things so seriously you don't enjoy yourself.
Registration will be closing in about a day and a half, so don't miss out. For those of you riding the fence because you don't like rain, think back over the past few months and think about how many times the forecast was nothing like reality. Do you want to be the one at your next league listening to everyone else talk about how much fun they had, do you? I've missed a few area tournaments and experienced this too. It's a bummer to think you missed out. This weekend is about the experience and the fellowship of friends. You'll notice players from all over signed up. Come make some new friends too.
As a former scout, I should remind everyone to come prepared. We would suggest, sunscreen, bug repellant, an umbrella (in the car at least), spare towels to switch out if they get wet or muddy, and poison ivy protection, if possible. Yes, we have poison ivy, as most places in Ohio. If you're careful not to disturb it as much as possible, you can mostly avoid it. Better safe than sorry.
I have heard talk of ticks in the area, but I have not personally seen any out there. If you run across any bees nests, please let us know where, so we can take care of them before others suffer. They dug in this year, but we've taken care of a few sites already.
If you have a bite or sting medical condition, PLEASE make sure you have your treatment and PLEASE let people around you know of your situation, so if the worst happens, people can get you help in a timely fashion. There is a hospital about 10 to 15 minutes away.
I would respectfully ask everyone to please be courteous to the other park users and park staff. They are really just learning about our disc golf community, what we have to offer and how much we can accomplish. I've seen some amazing things happen in the park this year, so please don't leave the staff with a bad taste from our event. I know many of you personally and I know this won't be the case, but I am stating it publicly to remind you to all be good stewards of the sport and help us steer others in the right direction.
Lastly, I would like to remind you that this entire event, as well as the disc golf course itself, is all done by volunteers. We're human and we make mistakes. We appreciate constructive criticisms, but not open inappropriate angry behavior that would take away from others having an enjoyable time. Come see one of us on the side and we'll listen.

Can someone give me information on camping friday night. I am on the camping list for saturday night but would like to camp friday night without having to change sites on saturday. Few questions. One, did I sign up for the group camping? Two my wife Taylor Rahe won one of the Puns invites. Since we already paid, could that be refunded via Paypal for her entry? Last question. I am in the A pool playing Am2. I did not realize how early our first round would start. I get off work at 7 AM in Canton Ohio and may not be able to make it by 830 to start my round. Should I just bump up to advanced now so I can move to the B pool and still play, or should I see if I can make it on time and if not, check in and move up to advanced on the day of?
