Hi All,
Thank you for signing up for the Paul & Evelyn Shreve Memorial Tournament at Shreve Hollow Disc Golf Course in Chillicothe, OH. Below is everything that you need to know ahead of this year’s event.
Getting to the Course
Shreve Hollow Disc Golf Course is a private course located at 309 Current Road, Chillicothe, OH 45601. Most GPS services should easily provide directions to the course. For most, the quickest way to the course will be via US Route 50. Turn onto Sugar Run Road. Turn right at the stop sign to continue on Sugar Run Road, and after about 2 miles, turn left onto Current Road. The course is at the very end of this road. A Dynamic Discs banner will be placed at the turn from Sugar Run Road to Current Road.
As this is a private course, parking is limited. We are therefore asking that, wherever possible, please car share. This will limit the number of cars needing to park. Upon arrival, you will be directed to where to park by a member of our team. Please park as close as reasonably possible to the vehicle next to you so that we can maximize the limited space we have. You may want to consider ensuring that all of the gear you need for the day is in the trunk of your car to limit the number of times you may need to access the side doors.
Please note that there is limited cell service available at the course.
Registration
Registration will take place at the rear of the house on the property, beginning at 7:30 AM. Registration will close at 8:30 AM. There will be a very brief players’ meeting at 8:30 AM before the beginning of the round at 9:00 AM. Please try to arrive at the course no later than 8:00 AM to ensure that everyone can register and that we are not delayed in starting.
If you cannot make the event or you know you will be late, please text or call me at 740-466-4363. Please include your full name in your message.
Once you are registered, you can collect your player pack disc. This year, you will have seven different molds to select from. These are:
- Dynamic Discs Lucid EMac Judge
- Dynamic Discs Lucid Felon
- Dynamic Discs Fuzion Burst Evidence
- Latitude 64 Opto Pioneer
- Latitude 64 Gold Burst Ballista Pro
- Westside Discs VIP Queen
- Westside Discs VIP Air Northman
If you would like to secure a particular mold, we recommend that you arrive early to ensure it is available. We have 10 discs in each mold available.
Extra Player Pack Discs
There will be additional player-pack discs available for purchase. These will be available for sale during payout after the second round is complete, along with all of our other discs and merchandise.
Club Membership Merchandise
If you are a First Capital Flight Club member and have not yet collected your wooden bag tag and club-stamped disc, you may do so at this event. You will be given your bag tag at registration, along with a voucher for one free club-stamped disc that you can redeem during payout after round two.
Weather
Looking at the forecast, there is a risk of rain and thunderstorms throughout the day. We will monitor the situation, but please be prepared for the weather. Shreve Hollow Disc Golf Course does an excellent job maintaining the course, but there are naturally a number of hazards throughout the course, so please be extremely cautious, especially on some of the steep hills. Rain will cause these to become slippery.
If lightning is detected within a 15-mile radius of the course, the event will be immediately suspended. Due to the limited cell service available at the course, we will not be able to communicate messages to players via PDGA Live. Therefore, if you hear three consecutive horns during your round, please mark your lie and return to Tournament Central immediately. We will then advise players here as to when the round will resume.

Course Rules & Facilities
Shreve Hollow Disc Golf Course is a privately owned course, and they do amazing work in maintaining and improving this course. They are working with First Capital Flight Club to put on this event, and we want to make sure it is a great relationship that grows each year. We therefore ask that you respect the course and leave it exactly as you found it. Please do not litter anywhere on the course. Trash cans / bags will be located at Tournament Central.
A porta-potty will be available at Tournament Central. Bottled water will also be available.
Scoring
Due to the limited cell service at the course, scoring for the event will NOT be completed through PDGA Live. Instead, your card will receive a paper scorecard that will need to be handed in at the end of each round.
New PDGA rules require that everyone on the card must keep a scorecard for the entire card. You may keep score throughout the round however you see fit. This can be on a paper scorecard, or on UDisc, for example. The important thing is that everyone on the card verifies the scores after each hole to ensure there are no discrepancies.
At the end of your round, all players on the card must check the final scorecard to ensure its accuracy before it is submitted. Any errors could result in a stroke penalty. Only one paper scorecard should be submitted per card. The entire card should sign the back of the scorecard to show that they approve, and it should be handed in to myself (Ryan Hutchings) or Denver Snyder.
Card groups and starting holes will be finalized shortly before the player's meeting. At the conclusion of the meeting, we will announce each card, and one member of the card will need to collect the official scorecard. Additional paper scorecards may be taken as necessary.
Start Time
The first round will begin at exactly 9:30 AM. The player's meeting will finish at least 15 minutes prior to the round starting to give players sufficient time to reach their starting holes. There will be a horn to signify the 2-minute warning , a horn to signal the beginning of the round. You must be at your starting hole at the 2-minute warning, and you may not throw any practice throws once the 2-minute warning has passed. Any practice throws could be penalized. This applies to both rounds.
Lunch
Lunch will be provided by Shreve Hollow Disc Golf Course. It is at least a 15 minute drive to the nearest store or restaurant, so please consider taking advantage of this, or bringing lunch with you, to avoid having to leave the course.
The lunch break will last approximately one hour from the time that the final card completes the first round. It will be YOUR responsibility to check in with event staff to confirm the start time of the second round. We will announce the start time at least 30 minutes before the round begins. Exactly 10 minutes prior to the start time, similar to before round 1 we will once again announce the cards and starting holes. As was the same with round 1, one member of the card will collect the official scorecard. A 2-minute warning horn, and a start round horn, will again be used.
Tie Break
In the event of a tie for first place in any division, the tied players will play holes 1-5 on repeat until the tie is broken. A coin shall be flipped to determine the tee order. The order shall then rotate after each hole.
Closest to the Pin (CTP)
There are several CTP prizes available throughout the event. The CTP holes will be announced during the player's meeting. If your disc lands closest to the pin, move the marking flag to the front of your disc and write your name on the card. At the end of the round, if your final hole is one of the CTP holes, please return the marking flag and card to the registration area.
If your final hole in round two is one of the CTP holes, please bring the CTP flag back to Tournament Central at the end of the round.
CTP Prizes & Ace Fund
Immediately after the second round, CTP vouchers will be handed out to the winners.
A $5 ace fund is available for this event. If you have not entered already, you will have the option to do so at registration. If any player throws an ace, they will win the entire ace fund. If multiple aces are hit, the fund will be split evenly between the players.
If no ace is thrown, we will have a CTP throw-off. Each player will have a chance to throw one disc from the marked position to the chosen basket. The two players closest to the pin will split the ace fund evenly. If any player throws an ace on the throw off, they will win the entire ace fund.
If an ace has been thrown during the event, the same CTP throw-off will still take place whilst the payout is calculated, but there will be a single winner of a $20 payout voucher.
Payout
The projected payout for each division will be published on Friday night.
Once the second round is complete, and all scorecards have been submitted, we will begin calculating the payout. Those who do win a payout will receive a signed paper voucher that lists their name, division, place, and amount. As a club, we will have over 700 discs to choose from, as well as bags, baskets, minis, t-shirts, and other merchandise.
Once you found the items that you would like to buy with your payout voucher, bring the items and your voucher to a member of the team handling payout and they will help you check out. If you would like to purchase items valued higher than your payout voucher, you can pay the difference. Due to limited cell service, we will only accept cash. Those who do not win any payout also have the option of buying any of our inventory.
PDGA Sanctioning, Membership, & Ratings
This event is a PDGA sanctioned C-Tier event. As a result, all PDGA rules will apply. Current PDGA members will receive a rating for their rounds. Please ensure that you are familiar with all PDGA Rules and the Code of Conduct.
A PDGA membership is not necessary for this event. However, for those who are not current PDGA members, if you register or renew now, your membership will be good throughout the rest of 2024. If you have signed up for a PDGA membership, but have not provided your PDGA number, you must do so before the event. You will receive a refund for your non-PDGA membership fee if you signed up for a membership after signing up for the event.
Feedback & Questions
Feedback about the event and the club is always welcome. We love running these events and we want to make them the best they can be. Whether the feedback is good or bad, we would love to hear it! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask, and I will ensure that they are answered in the player’s meeting.
