Fully agree with Ed. This is a player-pack paywall of personal data just to choose a colour for something we already paid for.
We are being asked to hand over full contact and billing info, including name, address, phone number, and email, to a third-party storefront for an item we will pick up in person. That is not standard, it is not necessary, and it is not professional for a national-level event.
We still get a jersey if we do not use the store, but making player choice conditional on giving up extra personal data is not how you build trust. This process does not serve the players, and it needs to change.

Sorry to hear you're not satisfied with how we’re managing things. I’m honestly not quite sure what you’re getting at, though - we’ve put a lot of effort into building a great player experience for this year’s Championship.

Have you had a chance to check out the website or the extra events listings? We’ve got clinics with Philo and Canadian Hall-of-Famer Elaine King, a Crokinole tournament, glow golf, opening ceremonies, a long drive contest, and a putting championship - all of which are exclusive to registered players for the first few weeks.

One of the concerns shared with us by CanDiscGolf and PDGA Canada after last year’s event was the lack of perceived player pack value and limited merch options. So we’re trying something new this year - partnering with a Canadian apparel company, working with artists like doubleram.discs on fun designs, and giving players more choice and flexibility around what they get.

We know we won’t please everyone, but we’re doing our best to raise the bar while staying true to what makes this event special. I genuinely hope you enjoy your tournament experience. And of course, if you feel this approach isn’t for you, withdrawing is always an option.

To be clear, the concern isn’t about the clinics or extras. It’s about pushing players to a third-party storefront and asking for personal info like address and phone number just to choose a jersey colour we’ve already paid for. That raises real questions about priorities and data handling.

Saying we’re “not obligated” misses the point. If giving up extra data is the only way to access a basic choice, it’s not really optional. Players are right to be frustrated, and that feedback deserves more than a deflection.

Also, how does this approach align with DiscGolfScene’s terms, which state that personal information may only be used for event-related communication and not shared without direct consent?

And one more thing — if the third-party store already recognizes our email or uses it to validate the jersey code, that means our information has already been shared without our permission. That is not okay. Who gave consent for that, and how is it being justified? Players deserve a clear answer.

Hi Paul, your division has not had any withdrawal to allow you to be promoted to a spot. You’re first to be promoted when someone drops. We are not adjusting divisions caps. Anyone promoted will be a replacement of that division.

I'm working on mine at Haute Goat and I know the other courses are doing the same...many of the properties are doing upgrades and changes to accommodate the diversity of players coming to this Championship. We are hoping to have these at least conceptually figured out by early July. It is fairly predictable what the general layouts will be at most of the properties. We don't want the locals having too much of an advantage:)

Thanks Darrell, and thanks to all the tournament team working hard on this. Not expecting hole-specific details and changes from regular layouts but it's tough for newer players to guess what "it's fairly predictable" means for a division like MA2, especially playing both at courses with multiple relatively short layouts like Newcastle and multiple relatively long layouts like P15. If anyone wants to post their predictions here I'd appreciate it.

For MA2 I would expect it would follow other events at those courses. So following that logic I would expect Newcastle to play from the shorts, P15 to play blue (the mixed layout) and Haute Goat to play White (though potentially blue). That has been my experience playing each of these courses in a tournament.

There will be communal tent/tent trailer camping spots at Escape Maze for Nationals. Escape Maze is 35 minutes to Haute Goat, 30 minutes to P15, 35 to Cedar Creek and 40 to Newcastle. It’s kind of in the middle of them all. We are still finalizing our pricing but expect to be cheaper than provincial parks, and there will be about 15 tent spots and then also 3 cabin spots available. There will also be a flex event at the Escape Maze disc golf course that week, so a convenient place to camp!
