Finale Pre-Event Email sent to players just now:
The 2023 High Plains Challenge Sponsored by Discmania is here!!!!
We are incredibly excited to host everyone this year at the Disc Revolution course @ Optimist and the Trash Panda Disc Golf Course @ Pessimist!
Today, Tom and I got all the lines painted and flagged(except Holes 14-16 at Optimist due to mowing on Thursday, Lines are painted but not flagged yet) and DZs and Mandos Marked!
Please remember this is a PDGA A Tier event. If you are new or newer to the tournament scene please ensure you are read up on ALL rules of disc golf here:
https://www.pdga.com/rules/competition-manual-disc-golf-events
Tee times will be posted here, Fridays tee times are up and the following days will be up by 8pm every evening or as cards come in and allow us to post them. Generally speaking, the tee time block will not change from day to day, but the groups will be sorted randomly on day 1 and by score (PDGA # is the tie breaker) for Rounds 2 and 3.
Caddies and Spectators will be allowed this weekend! We are ecstatic to have anyone out to watch!
Course Maps and Rules HERE
A Couple Course Notes: Disc Revolution Course at Optimist: The OB Line between Holes 8/9 is marked with Orange and White Flags to increase visibility.
Holes 15/16 have a painted line short of the reeds on the right continuing all the way to the water on the peninsula. Beyond this painted line is OB.
Hole 17: The flag line is as close to the reeds as we could, the water is high so be aware of where the line is this year.
Trash Panda Course at Pessimist, Hole 17 Left Side and Hole 18 right side are flagged with Orange and White Flags to increase visibility.
If OB Paint becomes undefinable at any OB Line the measure is flag to flag for OB. Remember that the OB line itself is out of Bounds, you must break the line on the safe side to be considered inbounds.
Amateur Player Packs: They will be available at the Disc Revolution Course at Optimist Friday and Saturday for pick up. If you are a later tee time it is advised to swing by early to get your pack if you want to pick it up Friday because after the last tee time goes off at Optimist all staff goes out for spotting on the course.
Check In: You can check in with the TD Tent (Near starting hole at Optimist, Near Hole 1 tee area at Pessimist) No Less than 15 minutes prior to your tee time.
Warm Up Areas: Once the first tees go off the course is closed, so 7:30am you can not be on either course playing or putting unless it is your tee time. When the final card gets off the course it is open again for practice.
Optimist Warm Up: There are open fields to throw and we will have a practice basket for putting near the starting hole.
Pessimist Warm Up: There is no field to throw in so we will put up our warm up throwing net near hole 1 as well as a practice basket for putting.
Reminder of Course assignments:
-Pool A(MPO/MP40/MA1) Friday Optimist, Saturday Pessimist, Sunday Optimist
-Pool B(All Others) Friday Pessimist, Saturday Optimist, Sunday Pessimist
All pro divisions, MA1 and MA40 play Long pads at Optimist, ALL OTHER DIVISIONS play short pads.
General Course Notes: Remember, when in doubt TAKE A PROVISIONAL.
NO TWO-METER RULE
Water and beyond is OB unless a defined painted line is present (for example hole 17 at Optimist will have a painted line near the reeds as close to the water as we can get. Holes 17 and 18 at Pessimist will also have a line painted to the north of the walking path before the concrete stockpile area).
Spotting: This event is always a well attended event and getting spotters is tough. We will have TD staff spotting on hole 17 at the Optimist Course but that may be our only spotting area, please spot for your cards specifically on hole 17 at Pessimist if we are unable to get someone out there each day! If we do have spotters, they are volunteers giving up their time, please throw them a thank you!
Please Note OB Lines on the maps are approximate, it is the players responsibility to be aware of the lines as painted and not rely solely on the map images which are approximate placements.
Scorecards: We will be using the PDGA digital scoring system through PDGA.com/Scores . The password will be shared with you prior to tee off. 2 people from the group are required to keep score, one via the official method, the other via PDGA ideally, but paper, or Udisc is acceptable. The group can decide who keeps the PDGA and who keeps the other PDGA or Udisc. The Digital Scorecard is the OFFICIAL score card of the event. After you complete scoring make sure everyone’s score is confirmed prior to anyone leaving for the day and ALL PLAYERS have an opportunity to review scores. PLEASE NOTE: Being unprepared to keep score, or unwilling to keep score with other methods provided is not an acceptable excuse.
Awards: After the completion of your rounds Sunday you may be in contention for a trophy and they will be handed out as soon as each division completes their final hole Sunday. Professional Players will receive payouts via paypal by Monday evening at the latest and trophy for first place only.
