Spring Sling 2025 - Tournament Day Tomorrow!

Hello Everyone,

The day we've been waiting for is almost here! Spring Sling 2025 will take place TOMORROW at Belmont Park, and we are very much looking forward to a great event. The course is in excellent condition thanks to the efforts of the City of Dayton. We also extend our sincere thanks to Todd, Jake, and Sizzel for their hard work in preparing the course.

Your support is greatly appreciated and contributes significantly to the success of the tournament. As a reminder, players will have the opportunity to win a disc golf cart from Zuca of their choice.

The Players Book contains all the necessary details for the tournament. Please take a moment to review it thoroughly to ensure you are well-informed. Please remember that PDGA rules regarding scoring are the only official guidelines for this event.

Regarding course play, please note that out-of-bounds (OB) areas have been established on nearly every hole. While the OB lines are generally not severe, crossing into designated dead zones or other fairways will result in an OB ruling. In response to player feedback, Belmont Park has been adjusted to provide more challenging and separating holes. Therefore, accurate shot placement will be important. Please remember that OB lines have no thickness; the line itself is out of bounds. To be considered in bounds, you must be touching the green on the fair side of the line. In the event of a too close to call, please rule in favor of the player or throw a provisional shot and consult with tournament staff after the round.

There is a possibility of rain tomorrow. Please come prepared with appropriate gear, such as extra socks and footwear for between rounds. In the event of lightning, play will be suspended immediately. You must mark your lie and seek shelter. Do not complete the hole. We will resume play after the weather has cleared.

Lunch will commence one hour after the last card of the round is submitted. The start time for Round 2 will be posted on social media and the PDGA app. Please be punctual in returning after the break to avoid penalties.

Player packs can be collected at Hazy Shade between or after your rounds. These packs include Innova discs featuring artwork by Justin Lago, as well as a gift card that will be sent to you via email. Please ensure you pick up your items within one week, after which they may no longer be available. The gift card will remain valid. If you require shipping, please contact us to arrange it, and you will be responsible for the associated shipping costs.

We will have two Closest to the Pin (CTP) prizes per round. Hole 19 (marked as 1 on the sign) will be a Layout-based CTP, with one competition for the MPO, MP40, MP50, FPO, MA1, MA2, MA40 divisions, and another for the MA60, MA50, FA2, MA3, MA4, MJ15 divisions. Hole 21 is the Zuca CTP, which will be divisional. Further details are available in the Players Book.

There will be no formal Players Meeting in the morning. Please ensure you are at your assigned starting hole by 8:55 AM, ready for the 9:00 AM tee-off. A horn will signal the start of play. Your starting hole assignments can be found on the PDGA website (links are provided in the Players Book). I will be on-site early to finalize the temporary course setup.

Will OB lines be touched up/repainted prior to the weekend? I played this afternoon and couldn’t really see much of anything from the tee pads. (What’s out there is pretty faded)…I would be happy to drop off a case of turf paint and pin flags to help! Heck, I’ll even paint it if ya let me!

After careful consideration and reviewing the player list, we've decided to postpone the event. Many of you are traveling in on the day of the event, and the forecast of thunderstorms poses a significant risk to player safety and our ability to guarantee two full rounds of golf.

We understand this is disappointing, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. However, player safety and ensuring a quality tournament experience are paramount.

New Event Date: We are rescheduling the event for Saturday, April 19th.

What This Means For You:

If you can play on 4/19: You don't need to do anything. We will automatically update your registration, and we look forward to seeing you in two weeks.

If you cannot play on 4/19: Please request a full refund, and we will process it promptly.

If you've already requested a refund: We will hold those requests until tomorrow. If you can now play on the new date, please message us, and we will cancel your refund request. Otherwise, your refund will be processed tomorrow.

We are currently in contact with the PDGA to finalize the rescheduling process and will provide updates as soon as possible.

This decision was not made lightly. We believe it is in the best interest of player safety, the park, and the overall tournament experience.

On another note.....yes we are aware of the weekends weather. we are closely monitoring things. We are hoping that he storm will push a little south and we will see rain and not Thunderstorms. The plan is to play if we think we can complete the event and keep everyone safe. If we feel otherwise we have been working on a back up plan. The final decision will be made by Thursday evening as we have a Port A Potty set for delivery Friday.

We will do our best to keep you updated as we can. For now everyone have some dry positive thoughts because the layout really does look great.

Yes we will use flags but will try to keep them as few as we can. It will be enough to see but these lines are mostly dividing lines on fairways so they should be pretty clear. Anything more than that we will mark heavier.

Okay sorry for the delay, we have updated the cap to the MAX amount of players for this event. With this being at Belmont Park we are going to try something a little different and try to only cap between Pro and AM divisions so there may be a little mixing on the cards but this will allow the most variety of players to sign up. If we fill again depending on how the 2 groups look we may bump those one way or another to fill. Long and short its easier to get a refund then get off a wait list. If you plan on playing this event, you better sign up soon :)
