Hey Folks - we will be sending out an email on COVID-19 guidance for this event tomorrow. Expect Phase 1, no spectators, no caddies. Final meetings with the team and the park to confirm are today and tomorrow.
Also - players will receive an email with the official 2020 caddy book by Saturday, the day that the course layout will be officially installed.
Thanks!

How does one register to play the tournament?
This event page was from the 2020 Event. To register for the upcoming 2021 PRO event go here: https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/DGPT_Discrafts_Great_Lakes_Open_2021 To register for the 2021 AM event go here: https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/Discrafts_Great_Lakes_Open_2021
I will add in. To play in either event you would have to be a PDGA member since it is an A tier. To play in the Pro Event, you also would need to have a PDGA rating above 900...

Hi Folks, So from a volunteer/spotting perspective, am I good packing in a small cooler for lunch and liquids on my cart, or how does that work? Mainly concerned about hydration on a hot day. Thanks in advance, and thank you to all making this event possible!

not sure if anybody here would have access/contacts, but I noticed the pdga page for the 2020 DGLO links to last years 2019 discgolfscene url instead of the 2020 event...
Mark, The Registration link is correct, its the "Website" that is linking to the 2019 which has information about Spectating, Old OB, an old Schedule, etc. Not just registration. This could be confusing for someone who is not familiar with how 2020 is different. Or was different if someone looks back years from now. I would recommend getting it fixed.
I had done the quick fix of deleting the about section on the 2019 one yesterday.

What is the closest free or cheap tent camping?
Camp Dearborn, Proud Lake, or Highland Rec Area. No idea about any covid restrictions.
Try bishop lake. It’s in Brighton, 20 minutes. Probably cheap. Pretty nice beach too

THE SITE IS NOT ACTIVE NOW. YOU CANNOT REGISTER UNTIL 9PM TONIGHT. YOU CAN LOOK IT OVER AND MAKE AN ACCOUNT ON THE SITE.
At 9:00pm the site will allow volunteers to pick out jobs for the Great Lakes Open. We have spotters, live scoring, and parking assistance.
Additionally, the DGPT is looking for people to assist with setting up the course on Saturday and you can find that on the site as well.
Thanks for everyone’s interest in assisting with this event.

We wanted to give everyone a days notice on this since there has been such large demand. The volunteer portal for DGLO will go live tomorrow at 9pm.
You will be picking your job be it parking assistance, spotting, or doing live scoring for the groups. You can also pick the day and time for them as you like as well.
I will post the portals address here at 9pm tomorrow. Thanks for your interest.

Will the course be open to the general public the Thursday before the tournament?
I am wondering this as well. What is schedule around tournament for open to play?

Is there caddy's allowed? This is my son's first DGPT tournament, and I've always said, " I wouldn't miss it for anything". Do I have to eat these words, and hug him good luck?
Noah, the volunteer portal is opening up today at 9am. Volunteering will probably be the best way to guarantee that you can be part of the event. I wouldn’t wait too long to sign up because I have seen a lot of interest in helping out.
Thanks...Noah is the player, and I am his dad trying to figure out if the DGPT is letting players have Caddies. I work and I needed to request time off, and I was hoping for a response from the DGPT, so I could ask off work....I am guessing that their still in the process of making the decision.
Mark Stephens July 12, 2020 at 12:26am
Ok...
I promised a DGLO update. This up date is for the disc golfing public and not the registered players. All instructions will be upcoming from the DGPT in a few days.
There will be no spectators allowed at DGLO. As much as we would like to have everyone at the Toboggan to watch their favorite professional players with COVID-19 And the state of things in Michigan, that just plain will not be possible. You will not even be able to enter the parking lot where the course is located. ...
