I played the alt course at the equestrian site. It was great, thanks for all the work it must have taken to set that up.

My question is, will the tee pads remain the partially cleared grass that were there this past Sunday? Or will there be additional work to implement a more even surface?

I’m pumped either way, just curious for equipment purposes and what shoes to wear.

Be one of the first to play a round of disc golf at Campbell Valley Regional Park. Book a tee time for yourself and up to 3 other players for a casual round on July 9, 2022 and/or July 10, 2022. This event is a fundraiser for the BC Open. Since the course will be in the same format as the course designed by INdesign Disc Golf for the BC Open, this event will also test this course’s speed of play. Since many of our BC Open Registrants will have the option to play a round on the temporary second course two weeks prior to the BC Open, this means that the second course will be available for practice on July 21, 2022 on a first come first serve basis rather than the initially contemplated reserved tee times.

Acerunners has generously offered for the top MJ18 or MJ15 player from the BC Junior Championships this month to win a free sponsored entry to the BC Open, MA1 division. Does someone know of anyone willing to offer a similar scenario for the top Female Junior player from the same tournament, to have a sponsored entry to the BC Open FA1 division? If anyone would be willing to sponsor this, it would be a great way to advance equal opportunity for the girls in the sport.

We are pleased to announce that our special event application has been approved and we will have a second course for the 2022 BC Open at the Equestrian Cross-Country Course at Campbell Valley Regional Park. We would like to thank the Campbell Valley Equestrian Society and Metro Vancouver Regional Parks for working with Ace Runners and permitting us to use this property for the 2022 BC Open. We would also like to thank Chris Hartmann and Stewart McIsack of INdesign Disc Golf, both of whom played an integral part in this process by helping to secure this property and creating the course layout. Our second course will be located on approximately 45 acres of the Campbell Valley Regional Park and it will have a mixture of wide-open spaces, elevation and treed fairways which will provide for a beautiful and challenging venue.

Now that we have our second course, all 131 registrants on the waitlist have been moved into the Registered Players list. Since we know that a number of people have registered in Divisions that were not their first choice, we want to give all current registered players the opportunity to play in the Division of their choice. If you are one of these registered players, please go to The Disc Golf Scene and move yourself into your preferred Division by end of day Sunday, May 1, 2022. We will then finalize the player caps for all Divisions and open up any remaining spots for additional players.

Please note that this property at Campbell Valley Regional Park is an active equestrian facility and disc golf is not permitted at any time other than our permitted event dates from July 21-24, 2022. Our temporary second course will be available for practice on July 21, 2022 for registered players. Registered players will have the opportunity to reserve a tee time at a later date on a first come first serve basis. As we are very excited about this venue and hope that this will be an inaugural event for disc golf on this property, we ask that everyone be an ambassador of disc golf while on this property.

Update April 15, 2022

Good News! We have just received a tentative permit approval for our proposed temporary second course in Langley for the 2022 BC Open. We cannot disclose the location yet since we do have to get a few more steps completed in order to get final approval, but things are looking very positive to move forward.

If our permit is approved, we will be able to accommodate everyone on the current waitlist plus a few more. As soon as we get final approval, we will update the registration to show the new caps per division.

Update March 31st.

Our original plan was to collapse any empty divisions on April 1, 2022 and collapse most divisions with less than 4 registrants on April 8, 2022. Due to the large waitlist, we have been working towards securing a second course. Finding a second venue for the same weekend and a second venue that is appropriate for a A-Tier event has been supremely challenging. We are pleased to say that we are actively working with the stakeholders of a property which is located relatively close to Raptors Knoll with the aim of creating a temporary second course for the 2022 BC Open. We will know in another two to three weeks whether this proposal will be approved. So until we hear back, we will not be collapsing any divisions.

If approved, we should be able to extend the field to accommodate everyone who is currently on the waitlist. We know that registration got off to a rocky start with the system wanting everyone to have the same PDGA number and this caused a number of people who were ready to register as soon as registration opened to end up on the waitlist. We will give another update by April 15, 2022 at the latest and hopefully the waitlist will disappear.

In the meantime, we would like to thank the many players who registered early and sponsored our event and the many businesses that have stepped up to support the 2022 BC Open, as listed on our sponsorship page at https://bcopen.ca/sponsors. If you know of any business that you believe would like to be involved please point them in our direction.

This sport is growing so much sad you guys didn't realize how busy the sign up would be. Raptors is a great course but you can also include other courses in your tournament to spend out the numbers like lanley passive would be a great addition. Or do one pop up course at a ball golf course is another options for the future. Or you could have a AM BC Open and a MPO BC open to spread the numbers out. Oh well at least the kamloops tournament thought of this, maybe next year BC open will be more accommodating.

Seeing the growth of the sport and having the BC open being one of the biggest tournaments in the province, something needs to happen or it will continue to disappoint and discourage many in trying to register.
