Good morning everyone. It has been a sleepless night making the decision that I feel will best suit players safety. The storm is entirely too unpredictable which is questioning the safety of all involved. The potential risk of high winds and even higher gusts while the entire event is using wooded courses has left me with the decision of rescheduling the event to September 22-23, 2018. This is next weekend and I’m aware this will impact players from all areas. My sincerest apologies but your safety has to remain #1.

Please understand that this decision did not come lightly. This has been a trying week while I look at all the information that is available pertaining to Hurricane Florence. In the end, the risks and unknowns are just too high for me to feel comfortable allowing everyone to proceed with competition this weekend.

I will process refunds for those that won’t be able to participate next weekend. Thank you all for being understanding while some of the hardest decisions I’ve faced have been upon me this week.

Good afternoon players. As everyone is aware I’ve been trying to decide what the best decision ahead of this weekend is. Your safety is priority as well as event staff and volunteers. I’ve had several conversations with the PDGA today after reports are updating and providing us with more information. The uncertainty of the storm is not making decisions easy. Please understand that these are tough choices with very little time.



I want to give everyone my decisions and plans as of the current advisories that have just been released. Sunday’s rounds at both locations have been cancelled. This has been a hard decision but I feel it is the best one for everyone. My concerns for your safety on wooded courses has led me to make this decision as Sunday's forecasts are troublesome.



After lengthy communications with the PDGA, throughout the day, we have collectively decided on two alternatives that follow the information I sent everyone last night. Option one is to compete Saturday, pending conditions, and complete awards at Langley Pond upon completion of round two. Option two is to cancel the event and move it to the following weekend (Sept 22-23) with the previously planned format of 3 rounds for all competitors.



I will make the final decision tomorrow morning by 9am and email all players immediately. I appreciate everyone’s patience while I’m working to find the best option for everyone’s safety. I will now process all refund requests for anyone that has already sent me requests and any that may decide to withdrawal now. Thank you all for your patience while some of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make have happened these past few days.

First off, thank you all for your patience while tough decisions are weighing heavily. Please understand that player safety is my #1 priority and I'm working diligently for the best alternative with the event.

I'm aware players are traveling and conditions are troublesome in many areas. Models are changing regularly which is making tough decisions even tougher but I'm continuing to watch so the safest and best decisions are made.

I'm very involved with the PDGA on deciding the best option that allows player safety and the event. I can't stress enough that player safety is, and will remain, my #1 priority.

I'm sure most are tracking the storm and see that the models are changing quite frequently. To better prepare and continue communications with the PDGA, I will make a final decision tomorrow after the mid day storm reports come out.

I'm looking at many scenarios but these are the top two:
- canceling the event & rescheduling
- planning to continue Saturday (pending conditions) with updated information before rounds and in between rounds regarding Sunday.

Theses are the two biggest scenarios I'm currently working on with the PDGA for the best decision of everyone.

Please be understanding while these decisions are made. This has been some of the hardest decisions I've faced as a TD and I want everyone to know that I'm working to determine the best option. Your support is very much appreciated while these decisions are being made.

I will process all refund requests tomorrow and understand the equally tough decisions that players and event staff are having to make.

Registration will be open until Wednesday, September 12 at 10pm. I'm trying to be considerate of the storm and players locations. I know some are in areas that will be more prone to disastrous impacts and my thoughts are with you and your families.

I have accepted withdrawals and would like to fill those spots. I have allowed 5 waitlist spots to help compensate for those still watching the weather and making their travel decisions.

Just had a question about how wait list works for this event. I just signed up for intermediate and I noticed it looks like there's about 7 or so people with waitlist on their name. Is it likely for spots to open up for something like this? Or is it fairly set on the field that is playing? Just curious what the chances of getting to play will be.
