Hi All,
Thank you for signing up for the Aileen Cole Stewart Charity Challenge 2025 at Aileen Cole Stewart Memorial Disc Golf Course. We are excited to raise as much money as possible for Veterans in Transition, Inc., and we are really pleased to be able to run this event at Aileen Cole Stewart Memorial DGC course in Chillicothe, which, appropriately for this event, is located on the grounds of the VA Hospital.
Getting to the Course
The course is located within Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center. On UDisc, hole 1 is located at the southern end of campus. However, for this event, registration will take place at the clubhouse for the golf course. This is located on Cleveland Avenue, as shown in the map attached, just behind hole 10's basket. However, in order to ensure that there is sufficient parking for everyone, and that we leave plenty of space for those using the golf course, we are asking that you use the parking lot for VA Memorial Stadium, located just behind the clubhouse. You will then have a short walk to the clubhouse from there. Both registration and payout will take place at the clubhouse.
Registration
Registration will take place at the clubhouse beginning at 9:00AM. Registration will close at 9:50AM, and there will be a very brief meeting at 10:00AM before the beginning of the round at 10:30AM. Please try to arrive at the course no later than 9:30AM to ensure that everyone can register, and that we are not delayed in starting.
If you cannot make the event or you know you will be late, please text me at 740-466-4363. Include your full name in your message.
Weather
Looking at the forecast, the weather for the event looks pretty good. It will likely be pretty cold, with a high of 44, but there is little to no chain of rain. We likely will have winds around 8mph.
Due to the recent bad weather, and out of concern for player safety, we have installed temporary tee pads using artificial turf. Some of these tee pads are slightly to the side of where the original tee location used to be, but this has been done to provide a flat tee surface where possible. There is a potential for rain this week, which means that the rest of the course may still be muddy and / or slippery. Please take caution.
Course Rules
The majority of the course will play as you would expect if you have played the course before, with a couple of exceptions. Firstly, a 21st hole will be added. The tee for this hole will be immediately visible after completing hole 20, and the basket will be a temporary red, white, and blue Veteran basket. There will be no turf tee pad for this hole. White flags will mark the tee.
Secondly, hole 1 will use a completely different tee location. The tee will be located across the road from hole 21 and you will throw between the trees to your right, and the road to your left, to the current pin position for hole 1. These changes have been made to ensure that there is a smoother flow around the course, and that players do not have to walk across the fairway of a hole to get to its tee. Again, there will be no turf tee pad for this hole. White flags will mark the tee.
The general rules for the course are that all parking lots and roads will be out of bounds. If you disc lands on a parking lot or road, you will play your next shot 1 meter in from where your disc went out of bounds, and will take a penalty stroke. Similarly, there is a small creek / canal that runs through campus. If you disc lands in, or goes beyond, the canal, your disc is out of bounds, and you shall play your next shot 1 meter in from where your disc went out of bounds, and will take a penalty stroke.
Holes 11 and 12 feature double mandatories marked by trees. Your disc must pass in between these mandatories. If your disc crosses the flag-marked line on the wrong side of either mandatory, you must proceed to the drop zone with a penalty stroke. The drop zone will be located in between the two mandatories. If your disc lands short of the mandatories, you have not missed them. You may proceed with your next shot and must still pass the mandatories correctly.
Orange arrows will be on every basket indicating the direction of the next tee. For the majority of holes, the next tee will be immediately visible. The two exceptions are hole 7, in which you will need to walk across the field in the direction of the arrow at hole 6's basket, and hole 16, in which you will need to walk the length of the road to your right after hole 15, in between the greenhouse and the VA fire department. Hole 16's tee is slightly to the right as you cross the road at the end. A map of the course layout is attached.
All holes will be par 3, except holes 7, 10 and 11, which will be par 4, for a total course par of 66.
The following notes will be listed on the PDGA live scoring.

Campus Rules & Facilities
Please ensure that you follow all the relevant rules for the Chillicothe VA Medical Center campus. Maintaining a positive relationship with local courses is integral to putting on bigger and better events in the future.
Please remember that the campus is federal property, and all federal laws apply.
Follow all speed limits on the road entering the campus. Alcohol, drugs, and tobacco are not permitted anywhere on campus. Please remember that this campus is home to a hospital.
Please ensure that you do not litter anywhere on the course. Trash cans will be located at the clubhouse, as well as by a select number of tee pads. It will be announced on the day which holes will have trash cans.
Bathrooms will be available within the clubhouse. Water will also be available within the clubhouse.
Scoring & Card Groups
Scoring for the event will be completed through PDGA Live. PDGA rules (https://www.pdga.com/rules/official-rules-disc-golf/808) require ALL players must keep score for their entire card during their round, so please come prepared to keep score. Refusing to keep score could result in disqualification. At least one person on your card must complete the PDGA Live scorecard for the entire card throughout your round, although it is recommended that all players use PDGA Live to keep score, as this forces all scorekeepers to address any conflicts between scores before moving on to the next hole. If not all players are able to do this, an alternative format of scorekeeping, such as UDisc, or a paper scorecard, is acceptable. Regardless of method, all players should confirm scores after each hole, and should make a final review of the scorecards after the round before being officially submitted. An incorrect scorecard being submitted could result in a penalty.
To access live scoring, go to www.pdga.com/score or use the PDGA Live app.

Card groups and starting holes will be published on Friday, but these will be subject to change as a result of no-shows and last minute changes. Please verify your starting hole and group immediately before the round.
Start Time
The round will begin at exactly 10:30AM, unless mentioned otherwise at the player's meeting. The player's meeting will finish approximately 15 minutes prior to the round starting to give player's sufficient time to reach their starting holes. There will be no horn to signify the 2 minute warning, or the beginning of the round. Instead, use the clock on your phone. You must be at your starting hole at the 2 minute warning, and you may not throw any practice throws once the 2 minute warning has passed. Any practice throws could be penalized.
Tie Break
In the event of a tie for first place in any division, the tied players will play holes 10-13 on repeat until the tie is broken. A coin shall be flipped to determine the tee order. The order shall then rotate after each hole.
Closest to the Pin (CTP)
There are 4 CTP prizes available throughout the event. These will be on holes 3, 8, 12, and 18. If your disc lands closest to the pin, move the marking flag to the front of your disc and write your name on the card. At the end of the round, if your final hole is one of the CTP holes, please return the marking flag and card to the registration area. The CTP winners will each receive a First Capital Flight Club mini marker.
Immediately after the round, CTP prizes will be handed out to the winners.
Ace Fund
An ace fund is available at a cost of $5 each. If you did not sign up for this at the time of registration, you may do so when you sign in on the day. We will accept cash, PayPal, or Venmo. If someone who entered the ace fund throws an ace during the round, they will win the entire fund. If multiple aces are thrown, the pot will be split evenly.
If an ace is not thrown, 50% of the fund will be donated, and 50% will be awarded through a CTP throw off. Each player who entered the ace fund will have a chance to throw one disc from the marked position to the basket. The two players closest to the pin will split the remainder of the ace fund evenly. If any player throws an ace on the throw off, they alone will win the 50% fund prize.
If an ace has been thrown during the event, the same CTP throw off will still take place whilst payout is calculated, but everyone will have a chance to throw, and there will be a single winner of a tournament disc.
Raffle for Chainstar Lite Basket
As part of your entry fee, you will receive one entry into the raffle for a Dynamic Discs Portable Recruit basket. If you would like to purchase additional tickets, you may do so at the time of sign in. Each ticket will cost $1. Once again, we will accept cash, PayPal, or Venmo. 100% of the ticket sales will be donated to Veterans in Transition, Inc.
Once the throw-off is complete, we will draw the raffle. You must be present at the time of the raffle to win. Please do not throw away your ticket until someone has successfully claimed their prize. If a ticket number is called and is not claimed, another number will be drawn until a winner is found.
Payout
The projected payout for each division will be published on Friday. These are subject to change as a result of last minute sign ups / cancellations. Please remember that since this event is primarily a fundraiser, the payout will be a little smaller compared to our other events. $20 of your entry fee was towards the payout, with the remaining $10 going towards Veterans in Transition, Inc.
Once the round is complete, and all scorecards have been submitted, we will begin calculating payout. Those who win a payout will receive a signed paper voucher that lists their name, division, place, and payout amount. As a club, we will have over plenty of discs to choose from, as well as baskets, minis, t-shirts, hats, and other merchandise.
Once you have found the items that you would like to buy with your payout voucher, bring the items and your voucher to a member of the team handling payout and they will help you check out. If you would like to purchase items valued higher than your payout voucher, you can pay the difference. We will accept cash, Venmo, or PayPal. Those who do not win any payout also have the option of buying any of our inventory through these methods of payment.
Those who are members of First Capital Flight Club will have the option to rollover their payout to a future event. If you would like to use this option, please bring your payout voucher to the team handling payout.
