Hey Disc Golfers!
Thank you for registering to play in the 3rd Annual Cackleberry Pie Classic presented by Innova! The Lions Club Course in Mena is a true hidden gem and we are always thrilled for this annual trip! This course would not be what it is without the passion of local disc golfers. Justin Ludwig pours his heart into this course for the benefit of others and the community. He is the reason that this tournament exists and the course continues to thrive! With the support of others like Adrian Bozeman, Bridger Kempf, and more, Mena disc golf continues to impress. Thank you for what you do for the course and for disc golf!
I'd like to also thank our Long Drive Contest sponsor Jace Roles and Holly Springs Real Estate! This email contains all of the needed info to compete in the tournament. Please review the items thoroughly. We will have a players's meeting at 9:00 which is not mandatory. If you have any questions please let me know at the meeting.
Tournament Central & Parking
Tournament Parking is located near the Lions Club building at The Disc Golf Dojo Mobile Shop. Parking is limited in the main lot and players should prepare to park along the entrance road to the property.
Schedule
This event will be a 2 round shotgun start tournament. Round 1 will start at 9:30am. Players may check in as early as 8am. As mentioned above, there will be a players meeting at 9am before we break to go to your starting holes. After the 1st round there will be an hour lunch break before the start of round 2. The 1 hour timer starts from the time that all cards have made it back to the parking lot after round 1.The Official start time of Round 2 will be published on the PDGA and Facebook event pages. Following round 2, trophies and payout will be awarded to the top finishers in each division. Following round 2 there will be a Distance Showcase and Ace Pot Throwoff if necessary.
There will be 2 short horn bursts to signal a 2 minute warning followed by a single extended horn burst to signal the start of each round.
Distance Showcase
Jace Roles and Holly Springs Real Estate presents the 2025 Cackleberry Pie Distance Showcase!!
We will begin after round 2 is complete and players have cleared the course. Anyone is welcome to join. Players get 5 attempts. Discs must stay within the marked lines. Distance is measured from where the disc first touches the ground. The winner will get $300 and the next 4 will get $50 each.
Friday Doubles 6pm
In addition to the main event Saturday, we will host a $10 Doubles round at 6pm tonight (Friday) at Lions Club DGC in Mena! Bring Your Own Partner or find one at the course. We will have a pro and am division.
Starting Holes
Starting holes for round 1 will be published to thePDGA event page around 7-8am the morning of the event to allow for last minute sign ups. Round 2 starting holes will be published along with the start time.
Live Scoring
We will be using PDGA live scoring for this event. One player from each card will keep score via pdga.com/score or the PDGA App using the code: Cackle
ALL PLAYERS are required to keep a scorecard for the group. PDGA Live Scoring is a great system and is very easy for multiple players to use. UDisc is another good digital option and paper scorecards will be available for players as needed. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR GROUP UNTIL SCORES ARE FINALIZED AND SUBMITTED VIA PDGA LIVE.
Course Rules
We are playing a mix of Yellow and Blue pin positions. They are mostly in the Yellow positions with exception to holes 1-4-7-17. OB lines will be added separating holes 1 & 10, 2 & 18, and along the tall grass line on 13. Hole 8 will be an island. There are standard course mandatories in play on holes 2-5-12-14-16.
All rules will be found on your PDGA Digital Scorecard, in the pictures section on Disc Golf Scene, and published to the Event Facebook page.
Weather
The weather forecast looks wonderful! If anything develops during the day we will monitor the weather and communicate with players via the PDGA Digital Scorecard. If you hear 3 short horn bursts at any point during play then play has been suspended. Players must return to their vehicles and take shelter.
Lunch
We will break for 1 hour for lunch starting from the time that the last players get back to tournament central after round 1 is complete. There are tons of local options for lunch. The 2nd round start time will be published on PDGA and the Digital Scorecard.
Awards and Payout
Following round 2 we will present trophies to the winners and award payout to all am winners. There is $1000 added to the pro purse for this event.
Payout will be awarded to the top 45% of each division using the PDGA payout scale. Pro divisions will be paid digitally after the event via paypal sent to the email address that they registered with. Amateur players will win a merchandise credit to the on-site Disc Golf Dojo proshop.
All payout can be seen on Disc Golf Scene once all players have completed their rounds. Payout can be redeemed the day of the event, at our Clubhouse in Van Buren, or at any future Disc Golf Dojo event. Follow us on Disc Golf Scene and get notified where we are each weekend.
Am payout will expire 2 years after it is awarded. Credit awarded at this event is valid through September 6th, 2027.
Trophies will be awarded to the first place finisher in divisions with 3 or more registered players. Once again, I got a little too creative with our trophies which has caused a delay in their production. Trophies will come in 2 parts the first of which will be presented at the course and the 2nd will be shipped to our champions in 2 weeks time.
Thank you again for registering to play in the 3rd Annual Cackleberry Pie Classic presented by Innova! I will see you all in the morning!!
