Please remember to get there by 8:30 if possible, so we can get you checked in and you can try out the package in a trial run. We have a big field without a plethora of baskets to match, so I want to minimize delays, even though this format lets it all move pretty quickly all the same.

Just got confirmation that the packages have been shipped, and are expected to arrive tomorrow. And I need to double-check with Discraft, but at this point, they have issued a rather significant shipping charge overage refund, which if accurate means that I'll already clear a $300+ donation from this year's event to Wadsworth Disc Golf. I'm really hoping to convert this donation into tangible change by the end of the year via bulletin board, step completion, red & white tee ... more

Just got confirmation that the packages have been shipped, and are expected to arrive tomorrow. And I need to double-check with Discraft, but at this point, they have issued a rather significant shipping charge overage refund, which if accurate means that I'll already clear a $300+ donation from this year's event to Wadsworth Disc Golf. I'm really hoping to convert this donation into tangible change by the end of the year via bulletin board, step completion, red & white tee kickboard lines for each hole, and hopefully a few more holes, leading to a hopeful full 18 without waiting too much longer.

I'm also in conversation with the City of Wadsworth for permission to run weekly doubles on Saturday mornings in September and October. However, they seem to be against granting permission unless a greater percentage of the pot goes to benefit the club. I am trying to assure them that this is how it's basically done everywhere: Medina, Massillon, Canton, Portage, Wingfoot, Hudson, Euclid, Parma, etc. etc. So hopefully they'll see the benefit of the proposed structure, and I will be able to announce that it is a go by the Ace Race. Less than a week away, and the weather forecast looks excellent at this point (though we are six days out, and it is Ohio...).

I plan on being at the park at the crack of dawn to set up, and will gladly take check-ins as soon as possible after setting up. If you are new to disc golf, I would recommend showing up as soon as possible to try out throwing the new discs.

I plan on being at the park at the crack of dawn to set up, and will gladly take check-ins as soon as possible after setting up. If you are new to disc golf, I would recommend showing up as soon as possible to try out throwing the new discs.

We will try to get the shelter by holes 8 and 9 (the big shelter is the only reservable shelter, and it's not available). If someone beats us to that one, I'll be setting up on the other side of the park, by hole 1, either using the shelter or setting up a portable shelter there. Look for the Discraft Banner(s).

We will have two rounds (though depending on the layout, a "round" might be twice through the course). At the end of the first round, we will have a short lunch break. We intend to have hot dogs and water, and will simply request donations. Any donations past covering the cost of the food/drink will go to Wadsworth Disc Golf. Also, we may shorten several of the holes even further for the second round to encourage ace opportunities.

We will also be having a couple of optional items:

1. A 50/50 CTP challenge. 1 throw $1, 5 throws $3. Closest to the pin wins half the pot, the other half going to Wadsworth Disc Golf. If the hole is aced by multiple people, there will be a CTP throwoff among them. You do NOT need to use the Ace Race discs for this contest. This will take place before the first round, during between rounds, and a last call will be after the second round.

2. Optional Ace Funds for each round, $2 per round. 100% of the money split among aces hit by those who opt in for that round. If nobody hits among those in for a round, a CTP throwoff for half of the pot will take place at the end of that round.

If anyone is willing to assist, I'll gladly take the help. Fortunately, most of this stuff is easy to get going.

Also, I am checking out a video camera from the Wadsworth community access cable, and hope to produce a show about the Ace Race that will appear on WCTV and YouTube. If anyone has friend or family not directly participating that would be interested in helping capture some of the event, please let me know. Also, anyone capturing anything useful via smartphone or personal cams, I would welcome obtaining any of that as well for adding to the production.

Finally, if anyone has a portable disc golf basket they can lend to the proceedings, please let me know. As soon as I have a final number, I'll try to finalize and publish the layout of the Ace Race course. It will likely be similar to last year, though I hope to add a basket or two since we have such a strong turnout this year.

WOW - 61 and counting! As an FYI, I have extended the registration until 9pm tonight, as I can afford to push it that far before ordering, and I had a few folks at the tournament at Portage Lakes today expressing interest without cash. We'll see what develops with that.

Speaking of Portage Lakes, the Dynamic Discs traveling Disc Store is there today all day, and will do the same at Hudson Springs tomorrow. I had to show INCREDIBL ... more

If what I've been communicated is accurate, we might hit 60 registrants when all is said and done. Thanks to everyone for coming out on the 24th, and I guarantee you'll be happy with the package.

Also, I will confirm two additional optional competitions during the Wadsworth Ace Race:

1. 50/50 Closest to the Pin. Enter as often as you like, $1 per throw or 5 throws for $3. Winner gets half the pot, and the remainder goes to Wadsworth Disc Golf for course improvements. If there are multiple aces of this contest hole, then each ace earns three throws in a final playoff at the same hole (CTP wins if no ace). There *might* be an additional prize for this one as well.

2. Cash ace fund. $2 per entry per round (for two rounds, optional to add second round entry between rounds). All aces hit among those who enter cash pool get an even share of this pot. If nobody hits in a round, there will be a CTP for all entrants for that round, winner getting half the pot, and Wadsworth Disc Golf getting the other half. To clarify, if an ace is hit during the round, the winner(s) will take 100% of the money. 50% to the club only occurs if there is a post-round throwoff.

Finally, we will have food available between rounds, with the request that a donation be made. Any money after covering food expenses will go to the club. I plan on trying to get donations of food for 2014, but I didn't have time this year.

Package announced, and the disc looks sweet! It is a DRIVER again, described as beginner-friendly, and it is being produced in Discraft's new Titanium plastic - a high durability plastic with a metallic look to it.

The other items in the package include a Titanium mini, Discraft stickers, can koozy, and 2 high impact drinking glasses...AND two perpetual scorecards in two separate layouts. All in all, a fantastic return on your $25 entry.
