Unfortunately, yes, you would have to register for both divisions. If you’re able to get in off the MA1 waitlist you can request a refund for the MA2 entry. There will be no processing fee charged for that refund.

division limits might shift a bit, but pool limits probably wouldn't, since that'd require shifting courses. C pool (which includes MA3) currently has 83/112 full; if other divisions in that pool don't fill, the TDs will likely add people from that pool's waitlist. Don't take that as gospel, though; the TD has the final word.

The Music City Marathon will be running on Saturday. We’ll be using Two Rivers that day instead. There’s another marathon (which I can’t remember the name of) running at Two Rivers on Sunday. So, we’ll be using Naval that day.

This will definitely test the PDGAs intent of ‘serving’ underserved divisions. I’ve often seen A tier and above tournaments offer all divisions as the PDGA does know there is a skill difference in a 59 year old player playing a 69 year old player. It is after all a trophy only tournament and there is a caveat a trophy does not need to be procured for a division not meeting minimum number of players, As an interested MA65 player I’m listening as to how this request plays out.

Typically, in our area, we don’t see enough interest to justify offering MA55, MA65, etc. And, with the PDGAs new rules, if I offer MA65 I also have to offer FA65. I am willing to open these divisions (and I guess I’ll go ahead and open MA55 and FA55 as well) but I’m gonna need a day or so to adjust the pools to make it work.

Rule 5.03.C states "available for practice for a minimum of six (6) daylight hours." and Rule 5.03.E states "no sanctioned events or other tournament-related events that prevent or impede these practice hours may take place on the course(s) ". So it sounds like it is okay as long as the flex start doesn't impede the 6 hr minimum. I've seen practice rounds and doubles event take place on the same day and co-existing with each other fine.

So, I contacted the PDGA today to clarify 5.03. I am told that as long as they don’t interfere with practice rounds, they are okay. With that being said, our staff is much smaller than, say, Ledgestone’s and will be far too busy on Thursday to run any flex starts. I will, however, contact some of the other groups in our area and see if any of them are able to run some flexes on Thursday.
