About this tournament

WNCDGA is proud to announce the inaugural Stroke Play Championship! We heard feedback from a few of you that you didn't love match play (which isn't going away) and with the new calendar year schedule, we figured let's do something new!

The details are as followed:
Registration
•Entry into the event will be FREE for 2024-2025 tag holders. (Check your registration here: https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournament/WNCDGA_Membership_2024_2025)
•Entry on Disc Golf Scene will be required.
•When registration initially opens, spaces will be held by division based on the current tag distribution.
•After 2 weeks, redistribution of spaces will occur. Additionally, a week prior to the event, redistribution of spaces may occur one last time.
•A waitlist will be used by division.
•Those who hold 2 tags (say Masters & Open) must choose which division in which they wish to compete prior to the start of play. If you choose to switch divisions, you will move to the back of the waitlist for that division.

Play
•All competitors will compete in Round 1 of 18 holes at the Asheville Municipal disc golf course.
•Round 1 will be scored on UDisc. Every player must have a UDisc account (free version is enough). This will allow all players to see scores towards the end of Round 1 to try to make the cut. However, due to format limitations in UDisc, Rounds 2 & 3 will be scored with paper scorecards.
•After the completion of Round 1, approximately HALF the field (by division) will be cut. The exact number of spots will be announced prior to Round 1.
•There will be an hour break for lunch & travel.
•Round 2 will begin after the break, with the smaller field and be played at Highland Brewing Holes 1-12 ONLY.
•After the completion of Round 2, there will be a final cut to approximately 8 Open, 4 Masters, & 4 Ladies for the final Round. These numbers may adjust prior to the event but will be announced prior to Round 1. A short 15 min break between Rounds 2 & 3 will occur to finalize scores and set final cards.
•Round 3 will begin with the final cards at Highland Brewing Hole 13-18 ONLY. In the event of a tie, play will continue on Hole 1 until there is a winner.
•After Round 3, three Champions will be crowned!
•Exact layout details will be announced at least 10 days prior to the event date.

Awards
•The winners for Open, Masters, and Ladies will have their names added to the brand new WNCDGA Stroke Play Championship trophy for years to come. The trophy will be on display for all to see.
•In addition to their name on the trophy, the winner of each division will take home a little cold hard cash (purse to be announced prior to play beginning).

Extra
In addition to the competition, WNCDGA will be set up at Highland Brewing with 2026 Bag Tags and remaining merchandise. Come grab your new tag, a beer, and watch the Stroke Play Championship Finals!
Sign up for your 2026 Bag Tag here (starting 12/1): https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournament/WNCDGA_Membership_2026
2026 Bag Tags do not get entry to the 2024-2025 Stroke Play Championship
