About this tournament
1 round of play
It’s about time! Throw and Go is an assigned-tee-time and timed event (run or walk) played with a single disc, where stokes are not counted.
Five year divisions, with the option of a second round for an additional $3.
We have included a discounted division for first time disc golfers $3. First time disc golfers (New players) are not eligible for awards, but have the option of joining an age division and being timed a second round for $13.
Awards will be given to the top 33% in every 5-year division:
1-3 players in a division = 1 award
4-6 players in a division = 2 awards
7-9 players in a division = 3 awards
10-12 players in a division = 4 awards
13-15 players in a division = 5 awards
A SPEED event (or not — decided by the human)! Acceptable discs are PDGA approved round-edged putters or rubber putters/midranges.
This is a fund-raiser. Our goal is to give $6 from every registration to be divided between Mental Health CT and Neighbor to Neighbor.
Players pack is custom shoe laces. Needingto keep it minimal so we can stay the course with our fund-raising.
If you have never played or do not have a round-edged putter, we will have a supply of used donated putters with us to share with players (and you may keep your putter for future rounds).
Here is how it will work:
Players will register in any of the 5-year divisions and will include their approximate 5K, 50-yard-dash, or speed-walking pace (just to help us seed your starting time).
Tee times for the day will be set based on pace, from fastest to slowest.
• When it is your turn, you start on the first tee pad, and when the official says “GO” — you throw!
• You then move (run or walk) to your disc, place your front foot in front of the disc (where a mini would go), pick it up and throw again!
• Repeat that sequence until the disc comes to rest in or on top of the basket (which is not PDGA approved, but allowed here!)
• Grab your disc, hasten to the next tee pad (see orange chalk arrow on ground for direction to next tee) and do it all again!
The only time you may hoof-it with disc in hand is after completing a hole on your way to the next.
If you catch another player, say the words “Gotcha, Gotta Go!” — that player will step safely to the side and freeze, and you play through.
If you are CAUGHT by another player and HEAR those words (or anything similar), step safely aside without your disc until the other player completes the hole and is safely away from the basket, then proceed.
For their kindness, a passed player gets 15 seconds deducted from their time for every player who passes them.
You will never be alone — there will be officials out on the course to help guide you if you get off track.
If I missed anything or you have any questions at all, please ask. We will learn together on this one!
