Clarification of the Ace Fund.

Each Pool (A or B) has their own fund and prizes.

Pool A prizes are:

Innova Traveler Basket, MSRP - $150
Innova Super Hero Bag - $110
Innova Umbrella - $40

Pool B prizes are:

Qty 3 Factory Second Super Hero Bags @ $70 ea = $210
1 Combination of an Innova 'Standard' Bag (small duffle type bag), $29 and a $50 voucher redeemable at Maverick Disc Golf.

Each pool prizes equal 150% of what was paid into the Ace Funds.

How they will be awarded:

If you ace in any round, at any course, you get first choice of the prizes that are for your Pool.
If there are more than 1 ace, those that hit an ace will play a separate Maverick CTP game (described below for first, second, third, etc. choice)

For each pool, whatever is remaining in the Ace Fund prize collection, those that paid into the Ace Fund will do a Maverick CTP game (described below).

If you hit an ace, you will get a prize, but you will not be a part of the CTP game afterwards for the remaining prizes (i.e. you can't win more than one item, unless you have more than 1 ace).

MAVERICK CTP GAME RULES.

Those that paid into the fund get one throw. The throws are generally between 70 - 120'. It's a modified CTP in that their is a hierarchy to various 'hits'.

Hierarchy:

1. Throw in
2. Chain out
3. Top band or basket cage (count as same)
4. Pole
5. True CTP (closest to pin).

So, if someone hits chains and deflects 20' off the basket, that is a higher 'hit' than someone who slides up to 1" of the pole but doesn't touch the pole.

There is some strategy. If you are in the back of the group, and no one has hit metal, you may want to go for a CTP to win. However, if someone ahead of you hits the band, you either have to hit chains or throw it in to win.

EXAMPLE:

There are 2 prizes left. One person hits chains, two others hit bands. The person that hits chains gets first choice, the two people and only those two people do it again to see who gets the second prize.

EXAMPLE:

There are 3 prizes left. One person hits the band and no one else hits metal. The person who hits the band gets their first choice. The next two people that are closest to the pole get second and third choice, the closet gets second choice, the second closest gets third (last) choice.

EXAMPLE:

Five people in a pool have aces. There are only four prizes. Only those five people play the CTP game for the prizes of 1 through 4. The fifth person gets a big bummer. (Actually, in the 65+ tournaments I've run, I've only had 1 tournament with more aces than prizes. I still gave that person a small voucher to pick something out).

If you have a tape measure, I recommend bringing it.

TEE AREA: For the most part, the ‘tee box’ is the concrete triangle. For those that want to tee on the grass, you can do so if and where it is marked. Sometimes it is on the left, other times it is on the right.
1: 264’, Par 3. OB sidewalk right, parking lot left, playground long. Both use regular pad.
2: 214’, Par 3. OB sidewalk right. Both use regular pad.
3: 211’, Par 3. OB sidewalk right. Both use regular pad.
4: Short Pad: Normal pad, 314’, Par 3. Long Pad: On sidewalk. Approximately 335’, Par 3. OB creek right, long, and left as marked by paint. If paint is not present, it is the mowed grass line. Sidewalk is OB.
5: 620’, Par 4. Tee Pad will be moved up 10’ to level ground. OB creek right, sidewalk left, sidewalk long, playground long. For the right size, the OB line is defined as paint if present, the mowed grass line if not present.
6: Short: 169’, Par 3. Long: 295’, Par 3. Regular pad is the short pad. Long pad is the sidewalk currently marked with a orange/white line. OB, Sidewalk left, private lawn right and long. Private lawn is defined as painted line if present, mowed grass line if not present. The taller grass itself is OB.
7: 417’, Par 3. OB sidewalk right, creek left. Creek is defined as painted line if present, mowed grass line if not present. Both use regular pad.
8: Short: 196’, Par 3. Long: 280’, Par 3. Regular pad is the short pad. Long pad is the sidewalk currently marked with an orange/white line. OB Sidewalks. Creek is casual.
9: 313’, Par 3. OB playground left as painted, creek right, sidewalk long. Shelter in or on is OB.
10: 203’, Par 3. OB sidewalk right, long. Creek is casual. Both use regular pad
11: 325’, Par 3. OB Sidewalk right, creek left. Both will use orange/white line painted on sidewalk. Creek is defined as painted line if present, mowed grass line if not present.

17: Short: 318’, Par 3. Long: 630’, Par 4. Long pad is the regular tee area. Short pad is on the bicycle / walking path to the right of the fairway. It was marked with white paint. This is the sidewalk on the right towards the industrial buildings, not the walking path that winds through the park. OB sidewalk right and left.
18: 257’, Par 3. Both will tee off sidewalk immediately to the left of the normal tee area - marked with orange paint. It is a safer tee area. OB sidewalk right and long. Bench and concrete base are OB.
LONG, PAR 59, 6942’, SHORT, PAR 56, 5769

[In all cases the sidewalk is OB, even when you are teeing off of the sidewalk. What this means is, if your disc never crosses the vertical plane to make it in bounds, the last place you were in bounds is the tee area. So, you are reteeing as a 3 (or 5, 7, etc.)]

Drop Zone: There is a mando on holes 14 & 16. They will be marked with a drop zone next to them. In both cases you must be to the left of the mando. If you go to the right, proceed to the drop zone for missing the mando with a one stroke penalty. On hole 14, since the creek left is OB, and the tree right is mando, it does make for a fairly narrow gap. Of course you can go over the OB line as long as you come back inbounds.

We will not be using the OB for any part of the levee - it is safe. Any water in the drainage ditches or standing water is safe with the exception of HOle 6.

Getting a few questions so will provide some information now. More information will be emailed to the registratants Saturday afternoon at the latest.

Check in for both pools is from 8:15 - 8:55 at the course you start at.

Pool A - Long pad pool will start at Kanza Park. You'll see Beau easily enough when you get there.

Pool B - Short pad pool will start at Forest Park. Rob will be in the shelter in between Holes 1 and 2.

Second round will be one hour after the last card on your course finishes. Your second round Hole Assignments and tee time will be posted at the same link above.

It is too late to request a refund at full value. From now until 5pm Friday, 7/30 you can still request a refund with a $5 fee deducted. After 5pm Friday, no refunds will be given. If you don't call or text before tee time on Sunday, you will forfeit entry fee and player pack. If you let me know you need to withdraw after registration closes on Friday but before your tee time I will hold a player pack for you to pick up or ship at your expense.

There will be some painted lines, but mostly where the course maps already shows the OB (Out of bounds) to be located. The painted lines are for clarrification. The paint will be done on Saturday.

If there is rain, we will still play. This event cannot be rescheduled. The only weather that will alter this is active lighting which we will delay for 30 minutes after the last lighting strike per my app Weather Bug.

I want to provide to you information as soon as I have it. I can tell you that Kanza Krush is officially being postponed. Flood stage for the Marais des Cygnes River will not drop to below flood levels until 3AM Saturday if no additional rain comes. Rain is in the forecast for both Friday and Saturday. Forest Park has may holes under water and Kanza Park has standing water in areas that pool. Any additional rain will not drain well. If we got a Thunderstorm on Saturday it would be horrible.

The make-up date has yet to be confirmed as I need to work in conjunction with the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Recreation Commission (different entity then the city), PDGA scheduling for both Kansas and Missouri due to the proximity to the border, Kanza Disc Golf Club, various non-sanctioned tournaments and my own personal calendar.

After speaking with the Kansas PDGA state coordinator this evening, these are the dates that are a possibility along with the known soft conflicts with those dates. If a date is not listed, there was one or more hard conflicts, meaning it absolutely would not work.

6/6. Sunday. Would conflict with Trilogy Challenge at Shawnee Mission. I would personally have to cancel a vacation that has been planned since January.

Rest of June and July are locked up.

8/1 Sunday. No known conflicts. Best choice.

9/5 Sunday. Labor Day weekend. Not ideal at all, but is technically open.

I will be proceeding with getting approval from other entities for the 8/1 date.

REFUNDS: All refunds are currently on hold until the reschedule date has been confirmed. Once it has been confirmed I will then start processing refunds without the $5 handling fee. If you are wanting to stay registered for the event, that would be greatly preferred and appreciated.

Kanza is easy to quit mid round too (like 4 spots play near starting spot) in case you're racing the weather or daylight. On Facebook, our group is Kanza disc golf club- if ya want to play a round with anyone, just post on there.

LATE WITHDRAWAL / NO-SHOW

At this point, withdrawing from the event will incur a $5 fee from the refund.  No refunds will be given out after 7 AM Friday, no exceptions.  Saturday hole assignments will be posted Friday before Noon.

If you cancel after Friday 7am, but before check-in closes for your particular day, Ams will receive the player pack (to be picked up as I cannot ship umbrellas at this point).  Pros, if you proactively cancel before check in closes, as a thank you for letting me know I'll ship you some Double G jerky (FYI, not required per PDGA).  If anyone, regardless of division, does not proactively cancel and doesn't show up (No-Call, No-Show), you  will forfeit your player pack and entry fee.

PARKING - 

For both parks there is ample parking. Overflow parking for Kanza can be in the parking lots adjacent to the course parking lot as these businesses are closed on Saturdays.

Forest Park parking is available in various marked parking areas within the park. Please try to not park next to fairways.

RESTROOMS

Forest Park has permanent restrooms that should be open. I am still working on the restroom situation at Kanza. If the city has not placed a portable there yet, Maverick will rent a portable restroom.

CHECK-IN

Saturday, May 22, 2021. Check in is from 8:15 to 9am at the course where you start round 1. Tee time is 9:15, but you need to check in prior to 9AM. At this time there is not a planned players meeting.


SCORING

We will be using the PDGA digital scoring system.  (This is not Udisc).  To access it, go to pdga.com/score.  Enter in the password, then your last name or PDGA number, and the card will pull up.  I will have paper scorecards as a backup.  You can also use udisc as a backup.  However, to submit the scores, it needs to be done through the PDGA scoring system.

AMATEUR PLAYER PACKS

Ams will receive a tournament disc and a surprise item. Most of the time I announce the player pack, but this time it’s a surprise for fun.

I will be splitting up the discs so that an assortment of each is available at both parks. If you didn’t get the disc you wanted, you are able to trade it in for what’s available at the second course as long as the disc was not thrown, at all. I.E., no field testing.


LUNCH BREAK / ROUND 2

We will have an approximately 1 hour lunch break after the last card is completed before starting round 2.  Your course will change and all likelihood your hole assignment and card mates will also change.  You will be able to find your new starting hole and second round tee time at the same links above and copied here below.

AWARDS / PAYOUTS

Awards for First place in all divisions and First, Second and Third place for Recreational will be given. The awards will be at the second course where you finish. We will give the award as soon as the clear winner is determined after the second round.  All payouts will be done with Rob at Forest Park. PRO PAYOUTS can be either a check picked up the same day, a check mailed to you, or PayPal Goods and Services (winner pays fees) based on what you chose during registration.  AM PAYOUTS can either be the same day with inventory I have on-hand, or you can receive a Gift Card code to redeem via my webstore maverickdiscgolf.com.  If you choose the webstore, it will charge you sales tax and shipping.  I do have some items in my tournament bins that are not available online, and I have some stuff online that is not available in my tournament bins.
